2.8 Bottle. Moderate cereal and roasted for the malt, light herbs and earth for the hops and yeast with a hint of cola in the background. Head is average size, frothy off-white with fair but slippery lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear copper. Flavor starts lightly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, between dry and watery and has a soft carbonation and a lightly astringent finish. Not much to this Landbier, but it’s still above some of the more popular German style beers.
2.8 Bottle--hmmmmmm, a beer that just kinda sits around and doesn’t do much for me. Dark amber color with a nice head that reduces and stays with the drink. Not much aroma that I can notice. The taste was nutty with some carmamel, some bread and malts made appearance, almost tried to be a British bitter, but not. So, so. Produce place 5.99
3.0 Amber color with white head. Malt aroma. Caramel malt flavor with spicy hop finish.
3.7 Aroma is nutty and spicy, with a little caramel. Taste starts out sweet, with some hop bitterness coming in for balance. A really good beer from an underrated brewery.
3.7 Pours a crystal clear light brown with a good two finger head the dissipates to a cap on top. Smells of bready malt mixed with some caramel melanoids, a spicy floral aroma from the hops and some light sweet fruits. Taste follows the aroma fairly well. Medium level of carbonation, sweet sticky mouthfeel, medium body. I enjoyed this beer. Smooth easy to drink sessionable lager.
3.4 22oz bottle, unknown date but a number of months old. However, it has been stored at a constant 38F since arriving at the store so that should help preserve some freshness. Served at around 45F. Pours clear copper/amber with a two finger off-white light beige head that leaves some walls of lacing and holds a wispy cap. Aroma is grains, cereal, bread, some grassy and earthy hops. As it warms some light fruit such as apples and a more toasty character develop. Moderate to good strength, getting better as it warms. Flavor is bread, grains, some caramel malt, good spiciness, decent grassy hop and citrus zest bitterness on the finish. Zero alcohol detected. Mouthfeel is on the light side of medium bodied, a bit oily, medium carbonation. My first Landbier and despite not being all that fresh, is still quite enjoyable and I wouldn’t pass up an opportunity to try another in the style down the road. Also serves as a good example as to what refrigeration can do to help preserve the lifespan of what should normally be a fairly fragile beer.
3.2 Thanks to acjohnst for this bottle. Served in a wine glass. Pours a moderate brown with a single-finger white head and a good dose of streaky lacing and a full cap. The nose brings forward plenty of earthy hops, which are followed up by a slight woody character. Under all of this is a bready base. The taste is more bready, but still has quite a few of those earthy components. The beer is a bit plain, but certainly well made. The earthy component is a nice addition, though it doesn’t have quite the maltiness that I’m normally looking for in a Vienna. Props again to Harpoon for continuing this series, which--along with Troegs’ Scratch--is one I like forward to trying new beers from. Serving type: bottle Reviewed on: 12-29-2010
2.7 Pot from Potto. Pours a clear light orange color with a white foamy head. Aroma is very grainy and seawater. Salty notes. Grainy. Flavor is light and dry with some bread and spice. Strange because it has a distinctive flavor and yet not at all. Well, here we are.
1.9 Bottle from the Pioneer Majestic. Light brown pour with a big white head. Aroma is light grain, kinda spicy, and weird. Taste is a little chocolate, roasted, and the same weirdness.
3.6 22oz Bottle. Poured a dark amber color with a white head. Aroma was malty, hoppy. Flavor was sweet bready malts. A solid, beer that was refreshing and worth checking out.
3.1 Caramel, clean and refreshing. Hops in the aftertaste. Improves flavor by increased temperatures.
3.3 Pours a deep dark amber with a lasting white head. Sweet candy malt aroma. No hops. Sweet malt flavor with a touch of hop bitterness on the back end.
2.4 not sure what i expected from this one, but it wasn’t this. Dark amber color, not too much aroma, has a metallic smell, like a tin can. Kind of like Sam Adams Boston lager upon first sip. nothing really special or distinctive about it, not bad though just sort of there. Doesn’t make me want to try more of the style.

3.3 Dark copper in the glass with an off-white head. Faint malty aroma. Nutty malt flavors with a touch of caramel. Spicy hop finish. Not really outstanding but certainly a very drinkable beer.
3.1 22oz bottle. Pours a clear dark honey brown with one finger long lasting head. A very subtle smell of malt and some hops. The taste starts out sweet with flavors of caramel, fruit and brown sugar. Then bready flavors come with a hearty malt character. The hops presence is strong but not over powering and creates a good balance. Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is clean.
3.1 22 ounce bomber poured in tall Oktoberfest glass. Copper light bodied with good lacing and light, spicy bitterness. Also slight sourness, yeasty and roasted grain flavors. Could this be Hamburg’s session beer?
3.3 This beer was alright. I haven’t tried any other beer of this genre but to me it tasted like a spicy lager. Not a go to beer but I’m glad that I’ve tried it.
3.3 Amber in color with a good sized off-white head. Aroma is of bread, nuts, slight hint of hops. Taste is of caramel, light herbal notes, and nuts.
2.9 A dark amber beer with a thick off white head. In aroma, nutty malt with bits of lactic points, grainy and herbal. In mouth, a nutty malt with an oily mouthfeel, light roasted nots, lactic points, not bad. Tasted Jan 1 2011.
3.2 Bottle. Pours an amber body with a white head and good retention. Light melon like sweetness a hint of honey due, earth tones a bit dry and woody with a light spiced hop character. Thin and simple, enjoyable.
3.0 The beer pours a brownish-amber color with a white head. The aroma is toffee malt along with some earthy and grassy hops. The flavor is more of the same. I get a ton of malt character - toffee and biscuit - as well as some grassy hops. Overall, the beer tastes a little bit like iced tea. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.
3.2 Bomber - fairly clear amber beer - aroma has an initial oxidized/cellared character, some caramel, doughy yeast, some raisin, light spiciness - fairly full-bodied and flavored for the abv - has a bit of nuttiness - fairly bready throughout - lightly spicy - fairly strong, spicy hops, but tempered by a moderate caramel sweetness and some notes of date and raisin - a bit of diacetyl, but just a touch, and it kind of works with the breadiness - the hops are a bit overly bitter in the finish, and never completely come together with the malt, but this is decent.
3.5 22oz bottle from Wegman’s in State College, PA. Pours a crystal clear, copper colored body with a finger-width, dense and frothy, off-white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a pretty nice lacing throughout. Aroma is bready and caramel malts with some floral and herbal hops. A bit grainy and a hint of spice with a touch of apricot and toast. Flavor is similar. A decent, even level of spicy herbs and floral hops balanced with a moderate caramel, somewhat bready and grainy maltiness. A few fruits and a touch of toast before this finishes somewhat minerally, crisp, and very dry with a light-moderate bitterness that leaves a fairly lengthy aftertaste. Lighter body and medium-high, soft carbonation. Overall, a well balanced, easy drinking lager. Pretty solid hop taste throughout with a solid, crisp, lightly sweetened bready caramel. I think they achieved what they were going for. Not bad at all.
3.0 Frothy off-white head of varying sized bubbles. Light cereal grain aroma with some bready malts, herbal aromas and some floral hops. Color is not very impressive as it is being poured but when you sit and look at it in the glass it is a somewhat nice medium brown with a red hue. Grainy and malty flavor with some roastyness and a bit of bread. Pretty one dimensional and uninspiring. Still a smooth and easy drinking brew though.
3.4 22oz Flower Mound bottle on T-Day. Filtered landbier with a clear bronze-copper color and a medium off-white head. Overall very pleasant with a the caramel malt up front balanced with a light, hoppy bitterness in the finish. Refreshing and nice with a heavier meal.
3.2 Bottle pours an amber/red clear brew with a thin white head. Malty scent with some spice notes. Malty, bready taste with hints spices. Nice bitter finish.
3.2 Location: 22 oz bottle from Buy Rite - Jersey City, 11/18/10 Aroma: Light, somewhat sweet nose, with some earthy notes, caramel malts, and a some wood Appearance: Pours a clear caramel-amber color with a decent sized beige head and lots of lace Flavor: The flavor is malty, somewhat dull, light sweetness, minimal bitterness present here Palate: The body is fairly light, it drinks pretty easily, and the carbonation is average to soft Overall Impression: I wasn’t overly impressed with this one. The quality of the product is pretty decent, but its just a little bit on the boring side. That’s really all I there is to say about this one. There isn’t much to praise or much to criticize, just a decent, but fairly boring brew.
3.4 Bomber pours crystal clear copper with tan head. The meek aroma is spicy and earthy when I’m able to detect it with very little else going on. The taste begins with fresh spicy hops rimmed with bitter citrus and then rolling toward grainy malts, biscuit malts and then a mild level of fruity esters.
3.7 Aroma: sweet, caramel, noble hop. Appearance: Dark copper, beige head. Taste: Nicely balanced, earthy, spicy hop notes with a sweet, slightly toasty malt profile to back it up. Very nice brew, can not think of anything critical to say about it.
