Harpoon UFO Raspberry (R.A.Z) Hefeweizen

Harpoon UFO Raspberry (R.A.Z) Hefeweizen

Natural raspberry flavors are added to our UFO Hefeweizen to create this beer. Consistent with the Hefeweizen style, this beer is unfiltered and cloudy with a solid foamy head. UFO R.A.Z. has a distinctive, hazy rose color. The scent of fresh raspberries hits the nose immediately, along with a subtle bready aroma from the wheat and yeast. The body is light and the unfiltered yeast provides a soft mouthfeel. The taste of the fruit compliments the beer nicely, neither overwhelms the other. There is a faint sweetness on the palate, which finishes cleanly in a semi-dry, tart finish. - See more at: http://www.harpoonbrewery.com/beer/96/ufo-r-a-z#sthash.ZVHloRZ3.dpuf

3.2 (Tap) cloudy orange red colour with a small beige head; aroma of raspberry candy;balanced flavour with a long, light bitter and sour flavour
3.3 Bleh... raspberry everywhere, kind of in a fake artificial way. Bright and crisp, but just not what I want to find in a beer. I wish it had more wheat notes.
2.2 0,33l Flasche. Pink-rote Farbe. Bitteres Himbeer Aroma. Erinnert im Geschmack an berliner Weisse mit Schuss oder schlechtere Fromboise aus Belgien. Mir zu pennetrant und leicht künstlich
3.3 Exactly what they claim, but the wheat isn’t that great. The raspberry is precisely what they said it would be. Fruity and pink. High carbonation. Tap
3.1 Pours a pink amber color with raspberry and wheat aroma. Lots of raspberry flavor wheat and hint of yeast. Refreshing summer beer.
2.8 Pours a cloudy red-orange with a white head with no lacing. Nose is fruit. Taste is crisp and tart. Aftertaste is lingering. Good refreshing summer beer. Hefe characteristic is low. 12 oz bottle in variety pack
2.1 Bottle 355ml @ Harpoon Tap Room - Terminal A - Logan Airport (BOS), Boston, MA Pours hazy copper with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, wheat, raspberries and hint of sourness. Taste is light to medium sweet and light bitter with a long wheat, grainy, raspberry and hint of popcorn in the finish. Body is light to medium, texture is thin., carbonation is soft.
2.9 Poured a cloudy orange color with aromas of wheat and raspberries fake raspberries galore. Flavors are wheat and light husk with fake raspberries and some skunkiness. Meh....
3.0 Orange color with little haziness. Aroma of raspberry and wheat. Same notes in taste. Drinkable.
3.5 On tap at The Brass Tap poured a hazy pinkish amber with a small lasting off white head. Aromas of wheat, raspberry and light yeast. Palate was light bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of wheat and raspberry with a smooth dry lightly tart lingering raspberry finish.
2.8 Served in tulip glass from a bottle. Fared a little better as it warmed, but not a great tasting beer. More a fruit beer than a hefe. Orange, white head, quite carbonated. Cloyingly sweet raspberry flavor with tart aftertaste.
2.8 On tap at the Harpoon Brewery, Boston. Pours orange with off-white head. Raspberries in aroma and flavor. Sweetish with light wheat notes. Light to medium bodied.
1.5 Pours a hazy ruby-amber from a bottle with a quickly dissipating minimal head with large bubbles. Reminds me of pouring a coke into a glass or something. Aroma is a rather messy mix of raspberry and the sort of light breadiness of the beer. Flavor is likewise just raspberry on top of an unpleasant piece of toast. Not like a warm childhood memory, more like a "why did they mess with this?". Meh.
2.7 Decent raspberry and wheat aroma without smelling like a wine cooler. Light gold with a slight pink tint. Lightweight palate with strong carbonation. Raspberry up front that is a little sweet followed by wheat notes. Some bittetness but a little one-sided.
1.9 Poured up a hazy ice tea colored brew with very small head that didn’t hold. Smells of rasberry and wheat. Taste is a medicinal artificial berry that is not plesent at all. There are some wheat flavors hiding here and there but it is dominated by what appears to be a flavor extract rather than real berries. Sadly I grabbed a whole six pack of these. Will get buzzed on some other brews and then see I can just suck these on down to get rid of them.
2.9 bottle to glass; better than I expected - light fruitiness in fizzy aroma. sweet taste - no real hefe per se but it went down easily...
3.4 Transfer from BA review on 5-24-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance- Served a lightly hazed orange-amber colored brew with a reddish-pinkish hue and a fizzy one finger white head. The head quickly dissipates leaving only a trace level of lace on the sides of the glass. Smell- The aroma is of wheat mixed with some nice raspberry smells. Taste – The taste begins with wheat mixed with raspberry flavors. A little bit of a yeasty flavor joins midway through the taste with the raspberry flavor getting slightly stronger and the wheat flavor slightly less so. In the end a rather refreshing and moderately crisp raspberry wheat flavor is left on the tongue. Mouthfeel- The body of the brew is rather light in creaminess and thickness with a carbonation level that is on the higher side. Very appropriate for the wheat and fruit flavors of the brew, making for a rather refreshing drinker. Overall – A relatively easy to drinking hefe with a moderate, but not obnoxious raspberry flavor.
2.3 Aroma of artificial fruit, raspberries, strawberries, wheat, sugar, hops, grass. Taste is sweet from the fruits. Not badly balanced by the wheat and malt. Still way too sweet, artificial.
1.9 Draught at brewery tour, Harpoon, Boston. Too pronounced raspberry, feeling of beer almost lost. Nice colour, though, not too red.
2.8 Pours a cloudy golden color. Aroma and taste are wheat and very mild raspberries.
3.0 Bottle - Nice light raspberry and light wheat. Cloudy gold with a decent thin white head. Raspberry and light grain. Lots of raspberry, but not too exciting.
2.0 Tap at Harpoon. Light raspberry and very light flavor of a very light beer. Pink color. No particular raspberry flavor.
3.7 Had a glass of this from a bottle at the Arbor Brewing Company sours & fruits tasting. Didn’t take formal notes.
2.3 ビールではない フルーツ
3.2 Cloudy, avg lace, middle amber with an orange hue, due to the raspberry juice added. Light body, medium flavor density, bright mouthfeel, short palate. Slight bitterness, touch of fruity sweetness which predominates in the finish, refreshing acidity. Well defined raspberry flavor which persists longer than all other impressions, yeasty soapiness. Good way to start the session.
2.1 Basically raspberry juice mixed with a little beer. A raspberry shandy. Very sweet like fruit juice. Still, not too bad.
2.9 Hazy light gold with cream colored head. Aroma of yeast/wheat and fruit. Taste of raspberries.
2.5 Amberish in color. Raspberry with slight hops in the aroma. The flavor kind of falls off the raspberry tastes artificial and sugar-candy like. The beer is lost.
3.0 Simple and flavorful. Clean raspberry flavor but if you only want a hint of raspberry and a lot of hefeweizen you are looking in the wrong place.
2.4 Reviewed from notes. The appearance was a hazy orange/brown colored body with a small white head, body is too hazy for any carbonation to be seen. There was no lacing at all. The smell had tart raspberry with some slight wheat coming in every now and again. The taste isn’t any different from the smell. The palate is about a medium with the carbonation felt, sessionable. Overall, well, I don’t think I’ll have this again, just wasn’t that impressed for me, still good for the style.
