This gloriously amber coloured ale is one of our brewer’s timeless classics. Made with what is often considered the finest hop on the earth, namely the Simcoe Hop. The result is a fruity finish with distinctive malty undertones. Take a sip and whilst time stands still discover this thirst quenching and palate enlivening ale.
4.4Fresh but smooth hit of hoppyness but not over powering .. never tried harviestoun before but will try again ..
3.5First impression is that this is a classic British best bitter with American (simcoe) hos for variety. Light amber colour, rather thin head. Malt dominates the aroma and initial taste, soon followed by substantial and lasting hop bitterness.
3.0Bottle. Clear light amber colour. Fruit and malt comes through. A very bitter hoppy finish that lingers.
3.6A traditional British recipe given an American hoppy twist. Again, something that has been done a hundred times over now, but to varying degrees of success. Personally, Broken Dial is a pretty well balanced brew, with dominant malt flavours. However, the hops add a welcome foil to the maltiness. Bottle downed enthusiastically at a hipster burger joint in Bath (lol) that I forget the name of. Great beer to go with a burger, I’ll be honest.
3.2330ml Flasche. Klar und bernsteinfarben mit minimaler Schaumkrone. Leichte Karamellnoten. Malzig. Leichter Koerper. Feinherb.
3.0Draft at hotel bar. Amber w ok head. Mild bread hop aroma. Similar taste. Some rounding in the mouthfeel but in general a pretty typical English beer

3.5Bottle at golf place hotel, st andrews. Amber color, tanned head. Aroma has malts, caramel notes, some fruits. Nice caramel malty taste, some fruity hoppiness, some hops. Great balance.
3.4330ml bottle: BB Nov 2018. Poured into my huge 'Judas' glass at home on 20th Sep 2017 during a live random tasting session with myself. Lovely looking clear and clean amber body, on top a white covering of foaming bubbles. malty lead in both the nose and taste, some hop bitterness and fruitiness also within the aromas and flavours, but the malts rule the roost. Liked it.
3.6Bottle from beer hawk. I drink this and think of home and f*** I miss Britain and its gorgeous cask beers, poured into proper pint glasses; darker beers which cling to the palate and taste of pubs themselves. Ok getting carried away but this is a lovely amber ale. Bittersweet. Another cracker from this brewery.
1.815.02.2014, 0,33l bottle sampled @ RBNG14:
Tiny shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly sweet, caramel malts, grass, citrus, dried fruits, yeast. Taste is slightly dry grassy, hay, hops, caramel malts, grass, cardboard. Medium to longlasting bitterness, dry mouthfeel. Next!
3.3Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Bridge Street. Light orangish brown, thin and clear with little head. Low aroma of light bready malt with some clove, orange peel. Taste is bitter-led, but there’s a birch-y herbal sweetness underlying it. Long medicinal finish. Takes a while to get used to but once you do, it’s pretty decent. There are so many ambers with bags of personality and I was hoping this was one... but it’ll do.
3.1Bottle - clear pale yellow with small white head. Decent fruity aroma. Ok mouthfeel, leaving tang in mouth. Fruity flavour - good lasting taste.
3.5Clear, copper colored, medium- off white frothy head. Aroma is of malt, caramel, biscuit, bit bready, medium fruity and some citrus hops. Taste is medium sweet malt, caramel, biscuit, light bread, medium hoppy aroma of fruit and grapefruity citrus, moderate bitterness, dry finish and rather long bitter after. Medium bodied, soft carbonation.
3.6From a mystery beer hawk case. Nice and hoppy. Little head. Bitter aftertaste. An ok ale.
3.1Clear orange-brown with no head. Not much aroma. Clean and slightly bitter, with a bitter aftertase. Smooth and light bodied.
3.8Pours amber, ring of head. Basically clear. Aroma is fruity, otherwise quite mild. Slightly spicy, slightly bitter, slightly sweet. Very harmonious.
3.2Live rating 330 ml bottle served cold. I’ve always thought calling a beer "Amber" is a bit non-committal: This leans brown ale-wards, smelling like toasted wholemeal bread, and pouring dark golden amber with an off-white head that disappeared: bready with a hint of milk chocolate, something earthy, and a bitter finish. Didn’t get any of the fruitiness mentioned on the label. I’m sure somebody somewhere loves this kind of stuff, and while I find it acceptable, it doesn’t make my heart sing. Am I missing something?
3.4Lahev. Hezká vůně i svěží ovocná chuť, trošku zvláštní barva na IPU. Ale pivo dobré.
3.1Flaske 330ml fra Meny Oslo City. Drukket hjemme 29 Okt 16. Mørk gyldenbrun. Høyt tett skum. Lett karamellaroma. Smaken balansert. Karamell & frukt. Bra fylde. Tørr ettersmak.
3.4Bottle. Sharp, malty character. Very much has a dark lager character to it. Cinnamon and spice. A nice drinkable option for the colder months when lagers can feel particularly rancid.
4.3Very malty but fresh and easy drinking. Very smooth. Fine carbonation. Nice after taste.
3.0Amber with a white head. Caramel, grainy and malty aroma. Sweet malty taste with some light bitterness towards the finish. Overall, a bit dull.
