2.5 A Lidl special so apprehensive Pours an amber with a thin white head A hoppy IPA with good aftertaste Bottle version
3.0 Copper coloured with medium large head and medium body. Hoppy, fruity, quite ordinary and average IPA.
3.7 Very light as an IPA. Not a heavy or over powering IPA. Subtle hop background. Nice colour. Flavour lets it down a little
2.8 Golden ipa with no head. Very hoppy with distinct american hops taste and some tropical citrus. Not bad at all
3.1 Golden body with white head Aroma is malts herbs grass. Taste is malts herbs fruits. Aftertaste is nice bitter
3.0 500ml bottle from Lidl, Leatherhead. Pours clear amber with a thin white head. Aroma of malt and hops with a hint of lemon. Similar taste with toffee. Bitter finish.
3.4 Fles gedeelt door KoenvD, geprobeerd met Roelzie1986. Het is een amberkleurig bier met een dun schuim. Het heeft een moutige wat hoppige geur. De smaak is moutig, zacht bitter en hoppig.
3.3 Not a bad IPA by any means, but not doing anything particularly interesting. Don't really taste the supposed citrus finish but it is a reasonably hoppy one
2.8 Thin beige head on a light copper coloured still body. Malt aroma. Medium bodied, limp & lifeless. Malt, soapy, pine & hoppy tastes. Standard EIPA
2.3 Bottled, 500ml from a Lidl in Evesham, Worcs. Gold with white head. This proved to be quite a thin, malty beer, fusty cardboard, CO2 notes, some boiled vegetable bitterness. Not for me.
3.5 2016 08 09 Butelka 0,5 l. Piana barwy brudnej bieli, obfita, z drobnych pęcherzyków, trwała, ładna koronka. Piwo ma kolor miedziany, jest klarowne. W aromacie przyjemne, średnio intensywne nuty cytrusowe - cytryny, limonki, oraz słodowe i biszkoptowe. w smaku dość wytrawne, wyczuwalne nuty karmelowe, żywiczne, cytrusowe. Pełnia średnio niska, wysycenie niskie, goryczka średnio intensywna, krótka, cytrusowo żywiczna. Zaskakująco pijalny i dobry angielski odpowiednik Argusa, zdarzało mi się pić gorsze crafty.
3.0 Bottle. Pours a dark orange colour with a fluffy white head, plenty of fruit especially orange in the aroma, the taste is medium bitterness and fruity with a dry bitter finish.
3.0 # 496; 10/2016. Hodně ovocná (třešně) a výrazněji karamelová IPA s horší, drsnější kořenitou hořkostí, která mírně ulpívá.
2.8 Some hops and pine, not enough to class it as an American style IPA though. Caramel sweetness combined with the the lemon and resin makes it more in line with a traditional English IPA. Decent enough for just over a quid though.
3.0 Bottle, from Lidl. Orange gold, thin short lived white head and gentle condition. Pleasantly citrus sweet nose with hints of burnt toffee and lemon, and a gentle floral honey note, good citrus hop resin and caramel in the mouth with a solid chalky bitterness, finish has a lingering bitterness with delicate citrus and honey lingering.
4.5 Bought in lidl, this is my go to beer that falls into the trolley at the end of a shop, this is shipyard ipa just in a different bottle and cheaper, perfect combination taste and price.
3.0 Plenty of citrus aroma on pour, and good carbonation. Pine bitterness with hints of citrus. Pleasant well priced ale. Bottle signed by Pat Mcginty of Marstons.
3.6 Very good lawnmower IPA...Malty grapefruit taste works well together. Value for money
4.8 Lovely IPA for the price. Each to their own but feel Marstons have impoved Green Gecko. Before it was too dark to be described as an IPA but am convinced it is Shipyard India Pale Ale, relabelled, as this is brewed by Marstons under licence from the Brewery in Maine USA and is 5% abv.
3.1 Blind tasting of the 'Hatherwood' range, 07/02/19. Most flavour and interest so far. Nose turmeric, rye and orange. Clear red with more head and lace than the paler brews. Taste rye and herb with basil and turmeric nods. Yep, I’m hallucinating flavours after 2 pints of insipid piss. Toasted nuts and jellied orange Sheps hop. Earlier Rating: 12/17/2015 Total Score: 3.7 1) 17/12/15. (BANKS’S VERSION). Well, well, well. A 5% £1.25 Wychstons beer from Lidl that tastes like a 7% US IPA. Berry red with a generous off white collar. Aroma of honeyed grapefruit, peaches in pineapple juice, dry citrusy resin and pine. Taste of perfumed grapefruit and grenadine fruit underscored with soggy English biscuit and a snort of hawthorn. American-English hops? Lingers with husk and biscuit. Just a hint of OTT astringency that knocks it down a point but in truth this is a better beer than innumerable throatsweet flavoured IPAs/DIPAs marketed as craft and retailing at 5-10 times the price tag. For that reason alone it’s a 16 from me. 2) 25/03/17. SHEPHERD NEAME VERSION. House flying saucer nose. Stale papery elements with crumbs of Jam ring biscuits. Low condition. All traces of hop or citrus pulled, expunged. Digestive and strawberry cream hints. Pure Sheps; anodyne, bog standard, drinkable, tastes like all the rest. Pity, as it was a near IPA proper when brewed by Banks’s. 535311.
1.1 Bland, thin, characterless. Not much of an IPA but can't work out what it is. Reminiscent of the unloved generic 'ale' you find in bad 80s bars.
2.6 Bottle from Lidl, Todmorden. Deeper clear golden with a small carbonation and a small head. Fairly undistinguished hoppy beer in taste, but remains palatable nonetheless. Earlier Rating: 4/7/2017 Total Score: 3 Bottle from Lidl, Todmorden. Copper-red with a thin head. Mainly a sweetened pale ale, but there’s a few hops of note too.
2.1 I really liked this when I first tried it but then I have the distinct memory that it said contains 'barley and rye' = if correct it no longer does and is much sadder for it. It still has a somewhat lemon hop tang and toffee malt notes but seems a bit bland
3.2 gold/amber colour fading bubbly head. smell is sweet and pine. taste light sweetness, pine and grapefruit and strong pithy bitter finish. bit bitter but ok
1.8 Aroma is sweet with caramel, sugary and slightly roasted notes. Taste begins with sweetness but then strong bitterness kicks in. Not typical IPA-like hoppiness but somehow artificial and exaggerated bitterness. Sticky mouthfeel. A weird brew. Definitely not my favourite IPA.
2.2 A thin beer resulting from the addition of glucose syrup in substitution to more malted barley. A poor example of an IPA. Reminds me of the thin watery US beers like Budweiser. Needs way more hops too
3.0 07-07-2018; bottle; at home (bought at an unknown location). The looks of the beer are nice. The beer has a nice pure golden yellow color. It is a bit darker than most IPA's...so it isn't that pale. The beer is crystal clear though and a lot of small bubbles are rising towards the top, sustaining the fluffy soft slightly off-white layer of foam. Foam retention is good. The smell of the beer is fine. It isn't very special. There are some sweet malty aromas, with a tiny small hint of caramel. Hops are pretty present. They give some zesty aromas, but also a nice herbal smell, with some piney influences. It is quite fruity, but it just isn't very strong or special. Nice though and an easy drinkable one. The taste is also not very special. Sweet malts, bitter hops with a slight fruity acidity. It is well balanced, but it feels a bit rough. Not extremely harmonious. Easy drinkable though and a good thirst quencher. The palate of the beer is average. Medium carbonation, medium body and slightly sticky. The finish is simple and has some bitter hops and a slight piney note. All in all, rather simple beer, but not bad.
2.7 Very dark for an idian pale ale bitter smells citrus and toffee ,taste citrus with caramel .It's ok bit darker and more bitter than one would like
3.3 50cl bottle from LIDL. Thick creamy white head. Clear golden pour. Nice bitterness. very good.
