3.7Terrapin & Friends beer dinner at Trappeze. Poured cloudy amber with a slim head. Aroma of light hop, fruit, funk, malt. Taste is a little fruity, with some sour notes. Pomm is not too noticable. Brew is nicely balanced. Finishes a little bitter, with a touch of alcohol. Mouth is medium bodied and tart.
3.822 oz bottle. Lots of muted hops that were mostly just sweetness. They were evident in the aroma and the flavor. Sweet finish and some vanilla and caramel malts in the long finish. I liked it!
3.7Cloudy orange colour with a beige head. malty, caramel sweet aroma with fruity notes and hints of vanilla, hops and alcohol. malty, caramel sweet flavor with notes of fruit and hops.
2.6This certainly wasnt the greatest beer by any strech of the means. Flavor is sweet and full of alcohol. aroma was nice though. Had a lot of pomegranate to it. Not much else to say about this one.
1.6Thanks to Daniel for pulling this rare gem out of the cellar. Pours out a red color without much of a head. Smell is fruits, wheat, and nothing else. Taste is sweet, and fruity, but not in a good way. Fruity in the same sense as Greg Luganis. This beer was about as good as cancer.
3.7Reddish color with a smallish head. Aroma is very sweet and sugary with a nice amount of citrus and floral hops. Flavor has lots of caramel and brown sugar sweetness with a smooth hoppy bite. Some dark fruit and candy in there too. Nice feel with a solid finish. A bit underrated in my opinion.
3.3Poured a lightly hazy, golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, vanilla, light pomegranate, almond, and minimal oxidation that I found, especially for being two years old. Taste of sweeter caramel, nuts, lightly tart pomegranate, toasted malts, and surprisingly low alcohol presence for being 10%.
2.8Bomber. Poured a brilliant, fiery shade of reddish-orange with a short, swirly cap of beige head. The aroma opened with candied medium-skinned fruits, caramel, and nutty notes.. lots of oxidation present, with the hops pretty well shot. The flavor found lighter fruits, some vinous notes, and pomegranate on the sweet core.. light herbal (and other non-classifiable) bitterness surrounds and makes itself quite annoying by the sticky, cloying finish.. somewhat toasty overall.. a lot more pomegranate right at the back. Medium-plus bodied and it never came together for me on the palate.. sticky and hot on the final impression. I didn’t care for this.
3.0It pours a nice amber colour with a tan head. very little lacing. Wine scented aroma with almonds, caramel and bread. Has a very smooth nutty taste with flavors of bananna, licorice and biscuits.
3.6bottle. pours copper/orange pour with frothy white head. leaves a nice lacing. strong hops. perfume and pine. dark fruits, rich malts and alcohol aroma. smooth and fruity. nice malt backing. well hopped. great fruit. the pomegranate is very nice. not overly done. very enjoyable.
2.72006 Bottling; Sampled May 2008
This has been sitting at the back of my fridge for quite some time now, don’t know why I never got to it but…
A vigorous pour produces a three finger thick, tan colored head that just rises above the rim of my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is a clear, rich amber hue that shows a brilliantly clear copper-amber color when held up to the light. The aroma is fruity with just a touch of a spice edge to it. Aromas of cherries, mahleb perhaps, berries, woody pepper and a touch of earthy spiciness. A touch of age is perhaps just noticeable, it really adds only a touch of Port-like aromas.
Smooth and creamy up front, but it quickly becomes a bit fizzy as it rolls across the tongue. It finishes with a hot alcohol note and a bit of astringency that is accentuated by the same. A berry-like fruitiness is found in towards the front and middle of this beer before the astringency and hot alcohol in the finish drown it out. A touch of toasty malt towards the finish almost seems to have a touch of roast character to it (but that might just be the alcohol influence again). This is probably more fruity than anything with flavors that remind me of cherries, currants and perhaps a touch of pomegranate (this last not nearly as distinct as one might expect). This is not super heavy bodied for a beer of this strength, but does have some heft to it.
I am surprised how present the alcohol is still, I would have figured after two years it would have mellowed out some. I am really disappointed in this beer, despite the fact that I held on to it for so long, it is worse than I expected. This could still age quite well for at least another couple years and may even improve.

3.6Bottle. A amber beer with a off-white head. The aroma is of caramel malt, floral hops and light alcoholic. The taste is light sweet dry and of caramel malt, floral, citric. Medium body with a dry hoppy finish.
2.5Poured dark brown, tan head. Fruity nose--pomegranate? Flavor was big, malty, and fruity with some alcohol notes and a tart pomegranate undercurrent. Finish was quite bitter.
3.6(Bottle 65 cl) Courtesy of boboski. Slightly hazy amber golden with a yellowish, off-white head. Fruit, caramel and a little diacety in the nose. Quite full-bodied with sweet, burned caramel, fruit and roasted malts. Lightly bitter finish with a slight underlying acidity. 190408
3.5Muddy with medium white head. Sweet fruity aroma with hoppy and caramel notes. Sweet flavor that holds notes of caramel, hops, grapefruit and toasted malt.
3.1Darker amber pour with decent brown head. Roasted nutty nose with some brown sugar. Flavor is carameal and a lot of light toasted malt. Very sweet, and yes, you can tell this has a lot of alcohol from the warmth. Finish is clean with a touch of bitterness from the hops.
3.6Bottle.
Hazy amber coloured with a medium sized off white head.
Sweet aroma of caramel, malts, hops and grape fruits with notes of dried fruits and dusty notes.
Sweet flavour of caramel, peaches, dried fruits, hops and grape fruits with notes of wood.
Hoppy finish.
3.7Bottled. An unclear golden beer with a thin off-white head. The aroma is sweet and totally dominated by over ripe fruit. The flavor is sweet wtih strong notes of fresh fruit as well as lots of hops, somewhat of a hop soup, leading to a dry bitter finish. The alcohol burns slightly in the top of the throat.
3.2Blind tasting at Papsoes place, another great session, thanks Henrik! Beer #3: Pours hazy orange with a fully diminished white head. Orange and grapefruit aroma, light woody dry note. Flavour is sweet and light acidic. Sweet caramel malt and a mild liqourice hops note lurking through. Goes into a dry and light woody finish. A bit too sweet for my liking.
3.7# 3 Bottle. [Papsoe’s great blind tasting, thanks Henrik!]
Average white bubbly head that mostly diminished. Fair display of lacework. Hazy amber color. Initial sniff gave the impression of sweet hoppy notes. Manly citrus, apricot and light grapefruit. Over the palate came strong notes of lovely bitterness, floral, grapefruit and again floral notes. Some underlying sweet malty and fruity feel as well. Medium to full bodied with a soft carbonation and light dry and alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet and bitter flavor in a well balanced way. Sweet floral finish with a light hoppy ending. 7-4-7-4-15 = 3.7

2.8Bottled sample via presario. Burnt orange in colour with medium carbonation. Aromas of lightly toasted malt, vague citrus fruit, and a bit of alcohol. Syrupy in terms of both flavor and texture. Tons of sweet malt, black pepper, mild citrus, earth, and something burnt. Very muddled.
3.1Clear amber with a frothy tan head. Malty sweet fruity smell. Medium bodied with a very smooth mouthfeel. So-so taste of burnt malts, hops, and pit fruits which didn’t seem to mesh all that well. Decent enough i suppose...2807
3.82006 22 oz. bottle pours a hazy orange brown with a smallish head and very tiny bubbles - lace sheets. The aroma is yeasty and perhaps a bit sour or fruity - perhaps the pomegranate. Include a bit of vanilla in the nose as it warms. The flavor has a big caramel malty sweetness and fruity punch. I can taste the pomegranate. Anyhow, the flavor seems to impart some yeast notes, perhaps some hops are noticeable, but very faint - could be the age. The sweetness stands out as it warms. There is no real heat for such a high ABV. The palate is pretty full/sticky, yet still nicely carbonated. Overall, this is a fine beer, highly under rated. Having gone back through the ratings it looks like this was pretty harsh when young. It has aged well.
2.7Dark amber colour with a cocoa powder brown foam. Very malty with a decent balancing act from the hops. "10 kinds of malt and 10 kinds of hops"? Still doesn’t seem that complex. It’s like a malty, salty, alcoholic cookie.
3.3Bomber. Yeah, a little oxidation gets through and distracts from what the beer once was. I get both straw and raspberrie and pear in this along with some chocolate. There’s still a decent amount of hoppiness to go along with the fruits. Not worth cellaring.
3.6From a 22 oz bottle this poured a nice clear copper color with slightly -off-white head and medium lacing rings. Nose is caramel malts, and some fruits with no obvious sign of the pomegranates. Flavor is a little sweet and the mouthfeel if medium. Dry finish, and the alcohol is not noticeable. I drank this at cellar temperature, and it got better as it warmed.
3.9Over 10,000 pomegranates gave their juicy little lives to produce this tasty experiment. Though technically a "fruit beer" it has very little in common with all the halfhearted "fruit and wheat" beers on the market. The pomegranates add a slight tart/sour component to the beer that blends nicely with the caramel and toffee malt flavors. If you allow it to breathe and warm up a bit it exhibits a nice barleywine flavor.
3.322 oz. bottle. Pours a cloudy amber with a large sudsy linen white head. The aroma was very light; I just about had to dunk my nose into the beer to get a whiff of anything. A bit of fruit and that was about it. Thankfully a good bit more flavorful with some fruit sweetness, which I assume is the pomegranite juice, along with a bit of brown sugar and caramel. The alcohol was well hidden with only a trace of warmth noticeable. An ok beer.
3.3Copper color with a large head. Fruity aroma with a little bit of grain. Strong caramel malt flavor. Oddly hoppy for a year old beer. The pomegranate is still there, but just barely. Not too bad at all.
4.0I was quite impressed with this beer. Dark off-amber in pour with a white head that was not too thick. Aroma of sweet fruit (pomegranate) and citrus. Flavors of sugary sweetness contrasted with the tart of the pomegranate.
