2.8 an amber ale that’s a little malt heavy...lots of caramel and toffee, light in the hop department, but still not bad...there’s just better choices in their line-up."
2.6 Bona cervesa, és bastant equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza, es bastante equilibrada y sabrosa.
2.6 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pint glass. The appearance was a hazy red to almost brown color. Bar pour yielded no head and it doesn’t leave any lacing. The smell had some light toasted caramel malts with a light piney hops to it. The taste followed the nose. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued. Overall, this was a pretty decent beer, nothing over the top.
3.4 A smooth and malty beer. A caramel flavor throughout. Very mild and not too complicated.
2.6 Pours a caramel color with a hops aroma. Taste is mild hoppiness with a small amount of sweetness. Malt flavor throughout, with a good lingering malt flavor on the palate. A Decent amber ale that was complex as a red.
3.0 On tap.Aroma was of caramel and roasted malt. Not a bad amber ale at all. Had a great toasty nut and raisin taste with a proper balancing of hops. It was a easy drinking medium bodied ale. Not big on amber ale, but this one is okay by me.
3.1 Keg Pint at Heartland, Empire State Building, New York in March 2013 - Amber red in colour. Malty; sweet malts, caramel, some nuts. Sweet malty fruity throughout. OK, but nothing special. Easy drinking.
3.5 5oz sampler from the brewpub NYC. Pours a slightly hazy dark golden color with a small foamy off white head. Aroma of caramel, fresh citrus hops, and a hint of yeast. Taste of toasted and caramel malt, citrus zest, and pine.
3.1 Tap at Heartland, Union Sq, 24/11/13. Reddish brown with a good size light beige head that retains well, good lacing ensues. Nose is caramel, sugars, sweet bread dough, light fruit. Taste comprises biscuit malt, caramel, fruitloaf, candied sugars. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth, sweet finale with light bitterness. Ok for style, not much depth but an easy drinker.
2.3 On draft at Heartland Union Square. This had a yeasty amber/lager taste. Mediocre. Heartland likes to run advertisements with photos of their smiling brewers showing off their beers, but this one is nothing to be so proud of.
3.2 Mörkbrun med litet skum! Inte mycket doft men i smaken finns det mycket caramelsmak och humle!
2.6 An average amber ale. Pours a light amber. Has a light aroma of malt and some caramel. Taste is malt, caramel, and some nuts. Smooth.
2.8 27.06.2013, tap @ Heartland Brewery & Rotisserie NY: Small creamy shortlasting head. Aroma is slightly neutral and sweet, caramel malts, dark sugar, hay, toffee, nuts. Taste is slightly sweet, caramel malts, hay, slightly roasted coffee, nuts, cardboard. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Fair enough.
1.8 I wish I knew what happened with this one... It was a decent amber ale with slight malty notes. I was too put off by the alcohol flavor in my drink though! It covered any enjoyable maltiness that might otherwise have made this an enjoyable beer.
3.5 18th Jan 2013 finds me in New York and the Heartland tap under the ESB. I found this to be their beer that most suited my taste buds. Good colouring, red and clean, on top a beige head of foam. The aroma was malt infused nuts with caramel topped toffee apple. The taste was also on the sweet side , but the hops gave it a more semi-bitter feel after the roasted malts calmed down in the mouth. Flavoursome and most enjoyable.
3.1 Clear reddish amber with an off white head and modest lace. Toasted malt and caramel aromas. Caramel sweetness is prominent, accompanied by nuttiness and a gentle offsetting hop bitterness. Medium mouthfeel and carbonation and a clean finish.
2.9 Better than the lager, dark red, smooth, pretty good overall drank in nyc at the pub there
3.3 I enjoy this red. It has a rich toffee that is a little sweet at the end, mild nutiness. Gorgeous dark red color.
2.3 On tap at Heartland, New York. Nice very dark red color. Unconvincing in relation to coffee and smoke flavor. Strange aftertaste.
3.2 Draught at Heartland Brewery (Empire State Building) NYC sept 2012. Dark amber beer with a tanned head. A bit vinuos, toffee, nuts aroma. Nutty, toffee and some coffee notes flavour.
3.2 [keg, Heartland Brewpub, New York City] Pours a clear amberish red, with a decent white head. Aroma is predominantly caramel, but with plenty of nuts, brown sugar, bready yeast. Flavours are similar, ends quite sweet for my personal taste, but is decent enough [24112012]
3.8 Tap sample at the brewery. Clear pretty mahogany color with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, nuts, wine like fruitiness and amaretto. Dark fruit flavor (raisins), round nutty malt flavor, some spicy hops and medium bitterness. Medium bodied, balanced and quite nice.
3.2 On tap at Heartland Brewery and Chophouse - 43rd St, August 2012. Clear amber with a small head. Sweet aroma and taste of malt, toffee, fruit and some nuts. An ok beer.
3.5 Tap @ Heartland 43rd st. Nice head with good duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are rich caramel, toffee, nuts, notes of licorice, malt and hops.
3.1 Draught at Heartland. Clear dark red/brown - offwhite head. Nutty. High nutty. Red berries. Roasted notes. High malty. Dry malty. Light hoppy.
2.9 On draft at the south street seaport location. Dark red color with a white head. Malty with some citrus notes.
3.5 Notes from 2008 NY visit. Clear reddish amber ale, white head. Nose is chocolatey malt, caramel, brown sugar. This is very malty. Taste is chocolate, caramel, brown sugar but there’s also some ale hop fruit. Touch of hop bitter in the finish but it’s mainly malt dominating.
3.7 Draught at Heartland (Empire State Building, NYC), on January 30, 2012 Clear deep copper to brownish red color, off-white to tan head. sweet, malty, fruity taste. Some berry aftertaste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel, high bitterness. Fruity, berry taste.
3.0 On tap. Clear bronze hued body with a retentive/lasting off-white head that leaves good lace. Aromas are of mild esters, fruit, toffee, caramel, bready, grainy, tea and a light orange hoppy note. Flavors are grainy, biscuity, bready, nutty, tea, caramel and orange. Light citrusy hops. A bit sticky on the palate. Full carbonation, medium bodied. Generic amber. No flaws, but not very interesting.
3.5 Sample @ Heartland Times Square. Very sweet; brown sugar taste. I wrote down at the time that this was amongst the best ambers I’ve ever had...
