Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet Prosit!

Heavy Seas Mutiny Fleet Prosit!

Malt focused, made with five types of grain including Vienna and Munich malts – plus a secret extra malt that we use only in our Prosit! Consider this bomber to be the burly big brother to our Clipper City MarzHon, a three year in a row winner at the Great American Beer Festival. We’ve balanced the sweetness of the malt with three kinds of hops making this one of the boldest marzen style lagers you’ll ever try.

3.6 Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are caramel, fruits, malt, nuts and hops.
2.5 Appearance is translucent copper with a thin beige head, sticky full body, and medium carbonation. Aroma is coriander and faint alcohol esters, with some heavy sweetness, like a good orange liqueur. Flavor is noble-esque hops and roasty malt sweetness. Overall, it’s way more Strong American Lager than Oktoberfest, but obviously, that’s what they were going for. Too sweet to be sessional, but a nice sipper to share with the crew.
3.1 22 ounce bottle. Pours a clear amber with a small biege head. Aroma of malt, caramel, orange, and hops. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, and some floral hops. Some alcohol at the finish. Interesting. Decent.
3.3 Pours a clear copper color with a nice off-white head to it. Sweet malt and yeast aromas with some bread and earthy hop notes. There’s a bit of fruity esters to it, which I don’t necessarily associate with an "Oktoberfest". The flavor is quite sweet with lots of caramel and sugar notes, maybe some hints of fruit. A bit of earthy hop character toward the back end. Medium to full in body with medium carbonation.
2.0 651mL. Pours a clear, light honey amber with a larger, beige head with nice retention and decent lace. Nose is sweet honey, sugary strawberry, grenadine, honey sweet rolls, moving to heavy sanitizer and dish soap. Taste is not very good- bland at the beginning moving to some serious cardboard and paper. Exceptionally bland and chalky mouthfeel. At almost 500 calories a bomber, I dumped the rest. Not worth the beer gut.
3.6 Bomber. Clear amber color with a lasting off-white head. Big and bready with well hidden alcohol and a medium body. Lots of malt layers with a moderate fruitiness but not as heavy and sweet as most doppelbocks, which I guess could put it in its own category of imperial marzen, though that’s really just a different take on a bock. Good and almost reminds me of a paler andechser, which is on the light side for a doppelbock.
3.0 Bottle thanks to Burg326: Poured a hazy burnt orange to copper with a creamy off white head. Aroma was very malty. Taste was smooth with loads of malts, but lacked depth in the body. A drinking beer but not a show stopper overall.
3.6 On tap at The Pony Bar. Sweet, pleasant, and seems to have some rye in it. I thought it was a rye saison. A good, well-balanced brew.
3.3 Bottle. Moderate malt aroma of cereal, light herbs for the hops, faint doug for the yeast, with date nutmeg and sherry in the background. Head is small, off-white with no lacing and is fully diminishing. Color is sparkling clear orange/red. Flavor starts lightly sweet and acidic, then finishes lightly sweet and acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is medium, and little slick with a lively carbonation and a light alcohol burn in the finish. Nice festive German tastes with a little pumpkin pie from this Imperial Pilsener.
2.6 Draft at Victoria. Pours light brown without much malt on the nose. A bit of sweetness on the tongue which doesn’t add much. Clean finisher. Meh!
3.0 Pours a clear, darkish amber with a 4 finger, sticky beige head that has great retention and leaves nice lacing. Aroma is cereal grain, sweet malt, caramel, toast, honey and floral and spicy hops. Flavor is more honey and sweet malt, biscuit, lots of alcohol, spicy hops and cereal grain. Palate is thinner than I would have expected at this strength, a bit oily on entry with an oddly dry, slightly boozy finish. Not bad, but probably not something that I will buy again at bomber price.
3.1 On tap at Battleship. Pours a clear golden color. Aroma is pretty simple. There’s malts, hops, and some citrus present. Flavor is a little sweeter with sweet malts, hops, citrus, and brown sugar. Leaves a sweeter hop finish. Pretty well balanced for 9%.
2.8 The aroma has corn, malted grains, and grass. The appearance is amber with an average head. The taste is exactly like the aroma. The palate is smooth. Overall it’s OK but not great.
3.1 not much with this beer, has some interesting flavors. I can taste the fall flavors with a slight maple syrup like after taste. slightly funky at the end, but overall its a good beer.
3.3 22 oz. bottle at the STLHops Pinball Party. Pours a clear golden-amber with a small eggshell white head. Notes of sweet and caramel malts, grains, corn flakes, honey, hay, and grass. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a malty mouthfeel. Some booze, too. Not bad, just not a style I’m wild about.
2.6 Ok beer. This is a clear amber color without much aroma it has a slight Carmel taste and is quite bitter.
3.3 Head was yeast aroma but malt then faded to a typical marzen malt aroma with mineral and a distinct grain scent almost a vanilla/carmel aroma with alcohol.Color is a sunburst copper decent medium-full carbonation.Carmel malty toast flavor with harshness and smoothness kinda a slick mouthfeel with some sharp hops/toasted malt. Cant really say if im a fan of the hop flavor in this-kind of a dirt like flavor bitterness.Alcohol gets in the way sometimes but its a pretty decent brew for its style.
4.3 Pours a wonderful amber color with very little head. Vienna and Munich malt aromas, with a yeasty note. Initial sparkly attack which fades quickly to a malty warm finish.
3.3 Not a bad brew. I prefer other Imp Oc’s more but this one manages to say that it’s not f’ing around. Try this out, it’s well balanced.
3.4 This was one of the more intense marzens ive had. Very malty with a small hint of hop flavor.
3.5 Deep, clear copper pour with substantial creamy head, slowly dissipating. Aroma of hay, caramel and toasted malts backed by a spicy hop addition. Taste is medium sweet, medium bitter, bold yet smooth. Medium body with subtle alcohol tang, lasting bitterness into the finish. I find this a very interesting and drinkable Octoberfest, getting better as the nights get cooler. Two thumbs up!
2.4 On tap at the charlotte flying saucer. Prosit pours a medium amber with not much head to speak of. Nose is malty with a hint of cloying sweetness. Taste is similar to the smell. Sweet malt with a hint of hops and a cloying alcohol sweetness that builds as you drink it. Body is medium. Nothing special. Finishes with a hint of hops and more of the sweetness. A bit strong. Not really getting marzen from this. Mos def strong ale.
2.8 Golden, aroma typical of style. Really sticky sweet caramel. Hard to drink. That’s all the comment this deserves.
2.9 22 ounce bottle, label says it’s 8% ABV. Served in a mug, the beer pours a mostly clear orange/amber color with a half inch off-white head that didn’t stay around for too long. Not much lacing, either. Aroma is a bit weak, it smells like toasted and caramel malt, toffee, and some orange peel. The taste is similar to the aroma, but there’s also the addition of a slight medicinal and a tea-like herbal flavor that I don’t care for in this beer. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it’s somewhat slick with moderate carbonation. Overall I’m not a fan of this brew. I’m disappointed in it since I’ve usually liked the Clipper City/Heavy Seas beers I’ve tried in the past. It’s not bad, but this one didn’t do much for me.
2.5 Poured a 22oz bomber into a pint glass (seriously need to consider some lager appropriate glassware.) Appearance - A translucent amber that allows me to view a world of red through the glass. Two solid fingers of foam that dissipated quickly, leaving behind a soft foam top and little lacing. Plenty of bubbles at the beginning that only die slightly. Aroma - Plenty of malt on the nose. A touch of hop character to indicate perhaps some will be found in drinking. Taste - Surprising. Almost initially little to no flavor from either end of the spectrum. Then subtle hop notes begin to make their presence known. A touch of caramel, almost what one might find in a darker beer. Alcohol flavor begins to make its presence known about half way in the taste. Mouthfeel - Sits like a bubble. Doesn’t have much weight or presence until you pop it. Either way no over carbonated burn. Pleasant, but at the same time not offering much. Overall - Oktoberfest/Marzens are not a style I’m overly familiar with. Thus judging the difference between a regular one and an imperial one is very much beyond me. Thinking about spending the fall getting to know them a little bit better. I’ll hold off determining if I’ll buy again after sampling what else is out there. Though, quite happy to say this will probably go well with the spicy peanut chicken dinner I have prepared.
2.8 Sweet and moderate fruit aroma. Clear orange color with a large white head. Sweet flavor throughout with a light spicy bitterness.
3.4 Bomber from Charleston Beer Exchange. Pours deep copper with a creamy/bubbly beige head. Smells like smooth caramel with some detectable herby hop. Med body. Flavor is caramel, but not sticky, and there’s some grassy/herby hop. Very light touch of heat. It’s pleasing to drink, and though sweeter than not, it seems near balanced.
3.9 Reviewed from notes. Pour is a moderate orange color with a nice off white head and a bit of lacing. The nose is caramel, toffee, hops, and some light nuts. The flavor brings everythig together well and is enhanced by the cask serving. Feel is nice with a touh of alcohol. Drinks quite well and is one of the better Oktoberfests that I have come across. 2.9 Maybe it is the style, but I just didn’t love this beer. Bottle split awhile ago.
3.2 22 oz bottle: Pours a caramel brown with a small head and light CO2 release. Caramel aroma and flavor. Very malty, easy to drink considering maltyness and alcohol content.
