Heavy Seas Small Craft Warning Über Pils

Heavy Seas Small Craft Warning Über Pils

Arguably our most well-balanced beer, Small Craft Warning seems at once hop-forward and malt-forward; our brewers debate over which flavor force prevails in the beer. Small Craft exemplifies a robust pilsner - it's crisp, well-carbonated, and slightly sweet. The beer is characterized by a firm malt backbone and a pronounced hop character. A fine aroma, from an array of hops, completes this quaffable beer.

3.5 Well balanced pilsner very enjoyable. My friend gave me 3 bottles and wish I had more.
2.7 Bears little resemblance to a lager with a thick creamy body and a rounded slightly fruity character. Very low on both aromas and flavors. Some alcohol warming in the chest but no alcohol flavor despite strength.
3.0 4 oz draft pour at Heavy Seas Alehouse in Baltimore. Clear golden yellow with off-white head. Aromas of sweet malt, honey, light floral notes. Tastes of sweet malt, caramel, tropical fruit, honey. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation.
3.9 Transfer from BA review on 9-6-12 - Poured from bottle into pint glass Appearance – Pours a clear golden-amber color with a thick one finger white head. The head has fantastic retention eventually fading to give nice lacing. Smell – The smell is bready and sweet. A caramel and toffee sweetness mixed with a biscuit maltiness. There is also a light hoppy aroma as well, although this is very light. Taste – A smooth bready and doughy flavor meets the tongue. There is a lighter caramel sweetness up front that grows stronger more toward the middle of the taste. In the middle the sweet and bready taste create a rather smooth sweetness. At the end a very light hoppy flavor of an earthy and citrus nature as well as some alcohol flavor comes to combine with the rest of the flavors. While perturbing the smooth taste of the brew, it did bring an element of change and ended up leaving a somewhat pleasing Mouthfeel – The body of the beer was rather creamy with only a light carbonation level. Very nice for the smooth bready flavors of the beer. Overall – It is a very tasty and soothing brew with some nice sweet bready flavors. One to sit back and enjoy.
2.4 Purchase by December 2013. Uh, oh. 12oz bottle poured into stange. Lovely auburn color with thin white head that quickly fades. No lacing. Aroma indicates oxidation, but caramel malt comes through. Flavor is pleasantly malty, however tinny oxidation is hard to get over. Medium body, creamy texture, lower carbonation, semi-dry finish. Drank a quarter and then drain poured, but would definitely give a fresh one a shot.
3.6 Sweet fruity aroma. Thin head on a clear dark amber body. Malt and fruit smooth taste.A sense a crispness in the background which gives it some character. Has a nice clean finish.
3.0 Pours a light amber color with a hoppy aroma. Taste is mildly fruity with a malty backbone. The flavors quickly disappears after the swallow but an earthy banana flavor is left behind. The malt is clean, smooth and is refreshing.
3.4 12 ounce bottle. Orange like body. Surprisingly sweet. Fruity esters. Pretty malty for a pils. Hmmmmmmm.
2.5 Bottle @ home via jcnielsen courtesy toss. Pours a surprisingly dark orange appearance with a thin off white head. Some orange candy, sweet toasted malty, bready aroma with a touch of cardboard. Carbonation is dull. Some citrus fruits in the flavor. Dull toasted grainy flavor. Strong finish. Not very good. Maybe a fresher bottle could have been better but I don’t think so.
3.0 Bottle. Clear dark gold with a thin ring of white head. Aroma is bready maul and Noble hops. Very pungent. Taste follows suit with some fruity sweetness on the end. Not as crisp as I'd like. Not terrible.
2.6 Some light sweet malt. Finishes with light sourness, some bitterness. Pours golden with ok head and lacing. On tap at DC Summerfest.
3.4 Bottle--gold to yellow color with a large, white head. Soft malt based aroma with some bread. Bread taste was up front with a solid malt base. Finish was thick for a piles with low carbonation. Might be the beat pils i ever drank. Produce place. $1.79.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a copper color with white head. Malty, sweet, corn aromas. Not great but just not my thing.
3.0 Bottle to tumbler. Pours amber, nice two finger head, decent lacing. Aroma of spruce, grass, light malts. Taste is grassy, bread, sweet malts, slightly bitter. Medium body, light carbonation. Finishes earthy, sweet, notes of funk. Drinkable but strange.
3.1 Logged in from untappd - for a pilsner its not bad as it has some flavor. Still tough to give any pilsner a mark
2.0 Drank out of a 12oz bottle. Not a fan of Heavy Seas products in the past. Fond of Pils, but Not of this one. Very flowery aromas. Very hoppy taste.
2.8 Bottle. Pours a copper color with white head. Malty, sweet, corn aromas. Malty, corn, slight boozy, slight green apple flavors. Not a fan.
3.4 bottle. deep golden with small head. solid pils with a good body. mild hops in the finish.
3.2 Poured light gold with almost no head. Grassy aroma. Taste is grass and pine with a crisp, dry lager finish.
2.8 Drought at International Great Beer Expo (Meadowlands). Rich yellow color, white foamy small head, slight hops aroma, crispy medium body, high carbonation, a bit yeasty taste, hoppy long finish.
3.1 Aromas of honey and citrus. Tastes sweet with a subtle bitter note, like orange, lemon, and grapefruit. Not a bad pilsner.
3.2 On tap 5 oz. sample at Judges' Bench in Ellicott City, MD. Clear, golden amber with an off-white head and excellent lacing. Aroma of orange, bread, honey and caramel. Taste of light fruit, toffee, citrus, grain and pilsener malt. Medium/light body and medium/high carbonation. If the goal was a more intense version of a crisp pilsener, I don't think this succeeded. While it is a quite quaffable brew, it comes across more like a grainy barleywine than a big pils.
2.2 On draft. Bright gold color. No discernable aroma. No discernable hop profile either, or any other particular flavor. Just tastes wet. Kind of oddly flat... maybe a tap-line issue?
3.3 Had on tap at Heavy Seas Alehouse. Somewhat more amber than most pils. Very thin head. Somewhat malty and sweet. Alcohol doesn't overpower. Pretty nice.
3.8 Deep golden color (for a pilsner). Light citrus aroma, lemony-grapefruit bitter/sweet finish. I don’t often drink a pilsner, this one I liked a lot.
3.1 Draft at Baggataway. Pours a hazy deep gold with thin white head and thick rings of lace. Nose of grass, honey, hay. Medium body. A bit hot with a bitter finish
2.8 pours a dark gold color with little to no head. Aroma of toffee and alcohol. Strange taste for a lager. Should be labeled a barleywine to be more accurate to the taste.
3.8 12oz bottle. Yellow-amber color and full bodied flavor with crisp carbonation. Wife liked it.
3.0 On tap @ C.B. Huntington’s (Bayville NJ). Pours a clear golden color with a thin foamy white head. Aroma of light citrus, and grain. Taste of citrus, orange skins, honey, lemon, earthy hops, and a metallic aftertaste.
3.2 Bottle. The aroma is predominantly yeast bread and some sweetness. The beer is a nice golden color with a decent fluffy white head. The taste is sweet with some bread notes and barely a touch of hops. The beer is clean and smooth.
