1.7 Bland malt taste with insufficient hops. Good color. Small head. It tastes somewhat watery. A mass produced beer with little attention to detail.
2.9 I prefer this over the regular Heineken lager, but I think it is mainly because I prefer dark beers. The flavor is more syrupy of course: caramely, malty, maybe a little bit more hops to offset the sweets. Pours an copper-medium brown color. Not heavy though like a lot of other dark beers. They don’t offer it at a lot of places, especially with the flood of micro-brews flooding the market lately, but if they ever say "Heineken", ask if they have Heineken Dark if you haven’t tried it yet. Worth the try for sure if you like the regular Heiny Lager.
4.0 Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass. This is a much better beer than their "green meenie". it is very flavorful and is lightly carbonated. Not often seen in the states but worth a try.
2.6 De geur en de kleur laten het ergste vermoeden, maar uiteindelijk valt de smaak goed mee. Gedronken in rillix
2.8 How: Bottle Appearance: Dark amber, large head. Aroma: caramel and bread. Palate: thin body, high carbonation.
2.4 Special Dark: "wow...a Heineken CAN be drinkable. Not exactly earth shattering, but drinkable. I’m surprised. pours a pleasant brown/ruby, decent malty nose and flavor, if still a little light. as good or better than newcastle."
3.2 2 Oct 2014, bottle. copper, clear, some bubbles. nose is copper malt. thin body and moderately fizzy. toasted malt and sweet lager. decent.
3.3 Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a pilsener glass. The appearance was a semi-dark red color with a light transparency about it to allow light streams of carbonated bubbles rising. The head was about a finger’s worth of white foaminess that dissipated within about a minute. Lacing was stringy and smooth. The smell had a fair toffee, light chocolate and a little bit of earthiness with a light apples. The taste was mainly sweet and bready. The apples come back slightly. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat sharp but still lending a decent smoothness about it too. Overall, this was a pretty good Vienna Lager I could see myself having again.
3.5 Heineken Special Dark bottle poured into pint glass. The aroma is very light but has the smell of coffee with chocolate undertones. Very dark but beautiful appearance with lots of frothy head. Tastes like coffee and chocolate one of the better dark beers.
3.0 Malty and slightly sweet, much better than normal heiny, actually a good beer smooth and malty
2.3 bottle. light brown with small head. not saying much, but it’s much better than the regular heiney. light caramel malt.
3.2 Sweet pecan nose. Clear bronze, thick tan head, good lacing. Lightly sweet, unmalted grain and pecan. Clean finish. Surprisingly decent.
3.4 Poured from 12 oz bottle into nonic glass. Appearance: 1" off white head slowly recedes with mild lacing. Color is a reddish brown. Aroma: mild aroma of molasses and whole wheat bread. Mouthfeel: light and refreshing, somewhat creamy. Flavor: chocolate, medium roasted barley, caramel, molasses with some grassy hop in the finish. Overall: a very pleasant dark lager. Nicely done.
2.6 Solid and drinkable, doesn’t have the skunk thang going. An early intro into the fact that there was something behind fizzy yellow beer.
3.3 Not bad if you’re in the mood for it. There’s a hint of chocolate and toasted malt. Far from great, but better than I expected. Another lager for my cheap pizza category.
2.5 Bottle. A- Caramel, toffee, spices. A- Very dark red color, hazy liquid, tan head. T- Slightly bitter, slightly malty, spices, toffee. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, spicy finish. O- An upgrade from regular Heineken but it’s still lacking quite a bit.
3.7 Tastes like your having chocolate milk

2.2 As a wise man once said " Heineken? Fuck that shit! Pabst Blue Ribbon!" I say " Heineken Dark? Fuck that shit! BLATZ!!" That’s how I roll.
4.6 When Anna Geertruida Cornelia Heineken inherited the brewery from her late husband, never she thought she will create the standard for beer marketing and the finest quality beer from Holland. This dark lager resembles her character; strong but gentle, with character and savor. I prefer the dark lager to the original, more taste to the palate! 2.9 October 2011. From bottle. Pours amber color with a white head. Roasted malt aromas with caramel and hops. Medium body and carbonation.
2.8 Pours a pretty deep amber. Looks force carbed. Aromas of nutty malts with caramel. Could pass for a Polotmavy. Taste is caramel, toffee, tree nuts. Finishes clean. Not fucken bad.
3.7 The aroma of this beer is a mixture of dough yeast and roasted malts, and the appearance is a clear mahogany color with a small off-white head that fades to a ring quickly. The taste is surprisingly good with a mixture of slight umami, touch sweet, and slightly sour, and the palate combines a medium body, slick texture, malty finish, and a soft carbonation.
2.6 Dark amber color; Medium body; Aroma of malt, & some grain; Flavor of slight roasted malt, nice caramel, and light hops; Decent macro brew.
3.5 This a very smooth and rich beer, it's the finest beer from Heineken. The malts are nice and toasty.
3.3 Clear dark brown pour with light brown head.. Aroma of prune and nut.. Taste is malts hints of chocolare..no wht i wzs expecting
2.7 After only knowing of the regular Heineken for my whole life, discovering this piqued my interest. I gave it a try, and what a beer. Not comparable with regular Heineken. This dark later is easy to drink and has a nice strong malty taste.
3.2 Bottle at Giovan’s. Deep reddish brown, kinda newcastle colored. Offwhite head. Nose is actually kinda neat. Low molasses notes and cocoa, pale malt, faint hop. No skunk. On tasting, super clean and fresh with a light roast note trending towards cocoa. Super drinkable and likable. Huh.
2.8 Semi- transparent red-brown with a creamy, light brown head. Aroma is toast, caramel. Taste is malty, chocolate, caramel. very sweet. Tasty, but a little watery. Wayyyyy better than regular Heinie.
2.6 Poors thin but dark. Very little to no head. Taste is malty and sweet, not unpleasant. Mouthfeel is thin and finish is weak and slightly sour
