4.1Thick white head on top of a clear yellow gold body. Smells sweet, like a corn heavy wort was used. It tastes a little bland, but not off putting or unpleasant. A good alternative to macro brewed session beers.
2.5Aluminum can from GO: Poured a carbonated golden liquid with light dust flakes of sediment with minimal foam layer created. Aroma is oat meal and cereal flakes with a dry white wine finish. The cheaper in price and flavor for German imported cans but worth it for the price still.
2.3Bottle. Backlog rating from bottle collection and historic scoring. Source not recorded. No tasting notes kept, just rating.
2.6From a can. Pours clear bright gold with a thin, fizzy white head. Tastes like sweet corn, doughy malt, and musky grains. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like sweet corn, doughy malt, and musky grains.
2.3Can. Pours clear gold. Aroma and flavor are pale malt, corn, caramel, and faint floral notes. Light/medium body.
2.5One of those guilty pleasures you sadly purchase from time to time as it is freakin’ cheap in bulk. Drank a lot of Henninger in its home of Frankfurt am Main years ago for the same reason - did the job so to speak. This is a crowd pleasingly thin version of their Dortmunder style Export. Radiant, translucent medium gold with high carbonation lifting up a loose, fluff of white that holds. Sweet honey and cereal-like nose after the initial DMS waft wanes. More dry on the tongue than the aroma gives off. Quite gassy at first, a carbonic acid bite upfront; the body thin and watery. And then it is flat - Didn’t see the transition coming once it warmed slightly. Grainy, peppery, plastic palate with a dry, stale hop finish and length. Medial to low bitterness. Not much here but it does drink easily chilled. Just another macro lager selling for bargain basement prices!!! (50cL can, BB 23/12/17, 1st Choice Liquor)
2.6660ml Henninger traditional German Brewing, not alias beer as listed. Very pleasant crisp German lager. Easy drinking and refreshing. Just enough bitterness for a lager to keep the taste fresh.
3.0can. Poured clear gold with a lasting white head. Fresh almost floral aroma. Light body, average carbonation, clean mouthfeel. Flavour of cereal malt, light and grainy, grassy hops, mild bitterness. Easy drinker.
2.8Clean golden with white head. Grain aroma. Mild sweetness. Decent body. Fairly easy drink that doesn’t stand out from the crowd.
2.8500 ml can from Dunmore Liquor, served in a shaker pint. The can erupted upon opening, losing a good amount of beer to my pants and the floor, and raising a strong vegetal scent. Pours a bright golden hue with a few streams of large-bubbled carbonation and a crackling, milky head that vanishes quickly, leaving a few tiny scraps of lace. Aroma is of wet grain, vegetal and corn, light honey sweetness, and earthy noble hops. Flavor is dry, with (just) tolerable tomatoey vegetal, wet hay and grass, and some doughy maltiness, ending with a soft bitterness and a black pepper note. Watery, and with a clean finish. It’s drinkable, but there are more palatable and satisfying German lagers to pick from.
3.1500ml can. Pours a clear, golden yellow with a half finger of white head. Aroma has notes of grain, classic German spicy/earthy hops, and faint, sweet caramel. Taste is balanced with notes of bread, sweet caramel, mild hops, and a touch of bitterness at the end. Medium body and carbonation. Clean in the mouth with a slightly dry finish. Overall pretty standard but done ok. Classic flavours for a German lager.
3.22015 BJCP Category: 2A International Pale Lager
AROMA: Lightly sweet malt, but no hop presence. No flaws, either. 8/12
APPEARANCE: Crystal clear gold hue. Bubbly at first, but becomes calm. Large white foam mostly dissipates. Trace lacing. 3/3
FLAVOR: Low grainy malt flavor. Clean fermentation. Lightly sweet. Palette is mild but not boring. Hops have faded. Hint of oxidation. 13/20
MOUTHFEEL: Light/medium body. Consistently crisp and clean finish. Refreshing. 4/5
OVERALL IMPRESSION: Nothing to dislike, but nothing to truly savor. Easy drinkability from the 500ml can and cheap cost make it appealing. 5/10
TOTAL SCORE: 32/50
2.6smell of yeast and lemon. taste of lemon, a long and quite bitter sourness, with some malt and grains at the crest of the taste if you will. Pour is a abstract yellow with a ring of head
3.1Pour from a 1 pint can. Clear golden brew with nice compact white head. Pleasant aroma dominated by sweet malty notes. Taste is sweet light malt up front with a modest hops towards the finish. Overall sweet from start to finish but a clean light caramel sweetness that is enjoyable. Nice lager.
3.1330ml bottle. Poured into a Pilsner glass. Nice lager. Not the biggest fan of lager, so a 3+ is a high rating. Simple crisp flavour which is not complex but quite nice. Moderate sweetness (I had tried a sweeter lager just prior) and a light hop flavour. Small white head typical of the style and for me there was no lacing. Overall a decent drop and for Oz this was really well priced. Would have again.
2.8Not a bad lager at all! Doesn’t have the big alcohol grain flavour which is nice. Mild corn and wheat flavours. Easy to drink.
3.1500ml can from the beer store. Solid pale lager. Ejoyablebly clean ethanol delivery. Tick tick tick.
1.4330ml bottle into glass. Slightly smoky nose. Rapidly dissipating head leaving a scummy white film on light golden beer. Watery with cardboard notes. Tinny/vegetal finish. Quite unpleasant.
3.0Can pours a clear pale golden with a large off-white head. Aroma of dry grassy hops and malt. Pleasent simple malt with some hops. Yeah I could drink a lot of these, very drinkable.
1.4Can. Typical lager. Straw-golden color foamy head. Light but foamy carbonation, soft thin mouthfeel. Doughy and grassy nose (mild). Grainy sweet flavors. bleh
2.7Oh Henninger, I remember you from my salad days in the suburban nightmare of my youth. 12 packs drunk in cemeteries & at pit parties & at the beach as the sun came up. You were never anything special, just an upgrade from Molson Canadian or Black Label. I’m surprised at how pretty you pour today, with a nice one finger mushy cap that you don’t see too often in these pale lagers. Your not very tasty: a cross between mushy corn flakes & soda water steeped with hay. While there’s really not much going on & i will probably never drink you again, you bring me memories of those lost crazy times & for that I say cheers.
2.4500 ml can from TBS, served cold in a tulip glass. Clear light golden with a fairly full white head. Sweet and grainy, slightly metallic, light grassy/peppery hops. Medium-ish body with moderate carbonation. Sweet and grainy, very light grassy, wet hay hops; dry with light bitterness and a somewhat vapid, lightly grainy finish. Meh.
2.6500 ml can from The Beer Store. Pours a clear bright golden colour with moderate-sized white head. Aroma is grassy and a little metallic. Flavour is grainy and grassy with a hint of metallic character. Average body. Servicable Euro lager.
3.4Had it from the can. Was pretty decent beer, would have it again. Nothing stands out, just regular German lager. You get what you expect from it.
2.1Meaty first impression. Export. A bit tart. Almost Apple. Unremarkable. Straight down the center.
This is most certainly true.
2.1Can. As Henninger Frankfurt Beer. 5%. "Brewed and canned by General Investment Co.Ltd. Jordan in association with and under technical supervision of Henninger Brewery, Germany.". Clear golden with a white head. Grainy aroma with a bit of hay and a bit of grassy hops and a metallic note. Sweetish flavor, somewhat grainy, a bit bready, with a faint grassy and metallic bitterness. Mouthfeel is quite watery. Pretty bland and non-offensive. Quite drinkable when served cold.
3.0Light malty nose, a touch of banana-bubblegum esters, but a slight over-ripe fruitiness. Moderate bitterness. Pleasant medium body, bitter finish with no harshness. A pleasant ordinary light lager.
2.3500ml bottle. Grain and grass with a light malt sweetness on the aroma and to taste. Some mid-fruits and citrus characters for freshness too. Medium carbonation, light to medium body whilst crisp and refreshing enough when chilled with a light, grassy finishing bitterness of fine length.
2.7Nothing wrong with this easy drinker. It is just an simple lager that is enjoyable enough to down. Serving Size: Pint Can
2.4Pours crystal clear gold with a big frothy white top. Aroma is cereal grains and slight floral. Taste is clean and crisp with cereal grains. Nothing special but tasty.
