A light-bodied, aromatic, Irish-style specialty ale. Double-hopped with PAcific Northwest Cascade hops for the flavor and smoothness of a traditional ale without bitterness of heaviness.

2.7Straw color, very "skunky" aroma, thin mouthfeel, little to no taste, easy to drink but pretty boring.
2.7On first impressions, like a glorified Molsons Golden. Pours with medium head that quickly disappeared. Standard US pale aroma, taste a little more creamy (within the realms of a light lager) and not as crazily fizzy as e.g. PBR. Very little bitterness in the finish. Overall decent but not Full Sail’s finest by a long way.
4.1This rating is a historical assessment of what the Blue Boar Ale was. It is still a fresh, crisp, lightly maltly and hoppy ale but overall its fame suffers from the original brewery (Weinhardts, Portland, OR) no longer making it. It tastes like a real good, large brewery, retail beer should taste. Because it comes from my end of the world (N.W. USA) I have a fondness for it. Nothing goes down better than a ice cold HW Blue Boar Ale on a hot summer day. Who gives a hoot what color the bottle is... keep it cold and drink it empty!
2.012oz bottle from the state store
Appearance: Pours crystal clear light golden with a medium sized white head that dissipate fairly quickly leaving some spotty lacing, good carbonation
Aroma: Skunky, sweet caramel malts and honey
Taste: Skunky, grainy, corn and bitterness
Why a green bottle? Tastes like a juiced up Heineken, not for me!
2.3Pours a bubbly bright gold color with smallish white head. Sour-hoppy-grainy aroma. Taste - nothing stands out. Corn, hops, hay and grass. Prickly carbonation. Light and refreshing, no off flavors but overall, this is pretty forgettable.
3.1Either this "Irish Style Ale" tastes a lot like Heineken, or Heineken is an "Irish Style Ale". Apparently Blue Boar is an American Pale Ale in the end. Hmmm.
1.312oz bottle. Rating #159. Clear yellow/gold pour with a light white head. All skunk in the nose, it overpowers anything else that might have there. Flavor was the same, more skunk, why would a brewer use green bottles. (1539)
1.1Bottle. "Double hopped"!? With Cascade?!? WTF? I don’t want to waste precious seconds off my life even responding to such ridiculous bullshit. This is a pale lager, and a pretty shitty one at that. Like every other Weinhard piss juice. FAIL.
2.3Light skunky beer with a hoppy taste. Not my favorite but I can drink it. It’s cheap and easy to find.
5.0This has always been my go to beer. As far as a cheap, light beer goes, this will always be in my fridge.
2.5Green bottle poured a clear gold with a lasting white head. Aromas of bread, spicy hops, light skunk and a hint of earthiness. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of bread, light spicy hops and a hint of earthiness with a smooth finish.
2.0This history rich name is contracted and brewed by Full Sail which makes great beer, this however, is not one of them. Pee colored pour. Skunked, wet paper, and cheap beer taste. Some flavor but none of it is good. pass.
1.7Pale yellow/gold, thin white head. Aroma of corn and mild hop. Taste is mild and lame. Somewhat refreshing when very cold.

1.012 oz bottle. First impressions before even tasting it: boring. It looks boring, smells boring. I imagine it’s going to taste boring. It smells skunky, cheap. Why breweries who should know better continue to use green and clear bottles instead of brown is incomprehensible to me. It almost always creates this skunk aroma and flavor. Idiots. It pours pretty much like a pale lager--maybe a little darker, but not much--no head, shitty lacing. Tastes of skunk, cheap adjuncts. This doesn’t even taste like a pale ale. It tastes like a macro pale lager. This is without a doubt the worst pale ale I’ve ever had.
2.8Washington is rating Henry Weinhard’s. 12-oz screwtop, brought to me by my boss as a gesture of kindness. And because he doesn’t feel like moving a bunch of beers over to our new offices in the next building. Either way, it’s the kind of thing that puts a fellow in a fine frame of mind. Pours a crystal clear pale yellow with loose grayish fizz on top. Mild nutty, corny, slightly earthy-hoppy nose. Watery light body, a bit fizzy. Corn, nuts, and earthy hop on the mid palate. Amazing neutral finish for an "APA." But not an awful beer by any means. Just horribly dull.
1.8Skunky Aroma. Pale golden in color... there’s really not much else to say about this other than I"m really disappointed" and I don’t see how they can call this a Pale Ale.
2.7Pale crystal clear yellow a white head but minimal lacing. Aroma of hops, some fruit and a hint of spice. Thin body with a flavor of apples - very interesting and unexpected. Finish balanced towards malt and a clean but light bitterness. A decent beer on its own, but it makes for a surprisingly bland North Western Pale Ale.
3.1Interesting name. Poured a moderately carbonated medium gold and delivered a smallish foamy white head which departed laceless. Aroma was nicely hopped and floral, as was the taste.
2.512oz bottle: Apperance is a golden brown with white head, aroma is bland of malt, flavor not much to write about slightly malt a little to much carbonation, pretty bland pale ale.
2.2You’d think that by association alone, that the beer brewed by Full Sail would have something to it. Unfortunately, this is just another mass brewed pale ale, with nothing going for it.
The body is a clear golden color, short 1" white head which went away with as much as a whimper, and clear carbonation bubbles floating away. Aroma has a moldy grassy note (like lifing up the lid of the grass barrell after a few days fermenting), very light citrus notes and some bran cereal thing going on. Flavor is an okay balance of hops and malt, but it seemed so watered down it was barely noticeable. Palate seemed crazy carbonated. I suppose it’d do in a pinch, but if there are other options I’d seek them out.
2.3Bottle - Not my favorite beer from the Henry Weinhard’s collection. My friend got me started with Private Reserve, but my favorite has to be the Blonde. The Blue Boar to me has a bitter taste.
2.6A truly average beer, below average when compared to any decent Pale Ale. Better than Bud, but not by a wide margin.
2.333 cl bottle, Fargo, ND, USA. Pale yellow, skunky aroma in the bottle, balanced hop and malt with some pepper on the aftertaste. On sale for 50 cents a bottle, it’s pretty good, drinkable for a bbq.
0.8Oh man did I get fooled, thinking I was getting a nice pale ale for cheap. Ha.
2.212oz bottle 3/4/09 (Tukwila Trading Post)-Pours a clear golden body with a small white covering for a head. Aroma of skunk. Taste of slight hops and a little malt. This light bodied brew should not be put in a green bottle and I was expecting more from this beer.
1.4Thanks to ghawner. Drank it at a beer session last nite. Truly forgettable beer. Very watery and tasteless.
1.4Bottle: Expected more. Light thin body. Thanks to rcasta, drank with ramenen. next.
2.7Desde seattle hasta la casa de hawie con el gordo. Aburrida por suave y sin mucho sabor.
1.2Metallic and thin, sour grassy notes upfront. Some skunked citrus and super-skunked bready, cereal grain at the finish. Ultra-carbonated. Did I forget to mention all the corn accents - well it’s there in spades. Double hopped with Cascades???? Did they put 2 hop pellets in their 5000bbl batch as opposed to the standard 4 and call it ’Double Hopped" or are they using their labels as a retarded joke forum like Laffy Taffy
