Herslev Stjerne Bryg (2005 - 2014)

Herslev Stjerne Bryg (2005 - 2014)

3.6 Bottle at home. One year old. The colour is hazy and brown with a medium, beige head. A sweet aroma with chocolate, dried fruit and some spices, especially coriander. The flavour is more sweet with wood, heather, anise and leather. Has a rich and slick mouthfeel, and a light bitterness. The spices is probably less pronounced from the aging but is still a solid and sweet ale.
3.9 DWG; Pours dark browm with fading creamy tan head. Aroma is malt, dark fruit, anis, caramell and citrus. Flavour much the same adding sweet and spice. Full body, oily texture. Sweet finish, sweet Christmas.
4.0 DWS Dark brown colour. Aroma of coffe, dried fruits, spices, liqorise, caramell and citrus. Taste sweet, fruity, hints of spices. Very good !
3.6 Ved ikke lige hvad der menes med 2005,nu er det i hvert fald 2013. Men glimrende øl. Jeg er meget begejstret for den lidt specielle smag, som jeg ikke rigtigt kan definere. Kunne godt blive kørt igen.
2.6 Bottle from Systembolaget. Ar: malty, jam, dried fruit, alcohol, honey, almost too sweet. Ap: Brown/reddish colour medium beige head, lacing. T: cloyingly sweet overpowers everything, can’ finish it. P: good mouthfeel. T: sugary, sugary, sugary.
3.5 DØE. Dark brown with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, yeast, dark fruits and spices. Flavour is malt, yeast, dark fruits, medium sweet, caramel, spices, candy sugar, little plume and a little bitter. Earlier Rating: 12/31/2011 Total Score: 3.7 Bottle, 2011. Very dark amber/brown with big beige head. Aroma is malt, yeast, dried fruits and plume. Flavour is malt, yeast, caramel, chocolate, plume, dried fruits, medium sweet, spices and a little toffee.
3.3 Bottle at home. Sweet spicy aroma, notes of anis. Light brown color small white head. Medium body small bubles, sweet taste and anis in the aftertaste. :) Bolton Brew.
3.5 Clear, dark brown/reddish body with a frothy, quite short-lived, off-white head that reduces to a film. Fair lacing. Quite strong aroma: sweet, spicy and fruity. Also yeast, dried dark fruits and dusty hints. Moderate sweet taste that lasts into the moderate bitter and long-lasting finish. The flavours are very spicy! I get anise seeds in the aftertaste, but before the beer is swallowed I just get a strong mix of all sorts of spices and herbs. Cool! Also caramel and coffee and alcohol in the back. Very nice oily texture, very soft carbonation and close to full body, but the massive spice and herbs attack makes the mouthfeel a bit rough. Still a lovely brew! [50 cl bottle, batch 623, enjoyed 6 months before BB date, from Vinmonopolet Online]
3.5 Pours light brown with a with a white head. Aroma of sweet fruits, some alcohol, caramel and anis. Nice taste. Decent brew
4.2 Bottle. Dark brown with pale brown head. Aroma sweet dried fruits, staranise can be detected. Taste sweet dried fruits, dates, some hopp bitterness, quite sweet. Delicious for sipping and a great christmas beer .
3.4 Bottle, bryg 623. Pours dark, reddish brown, with a small creamy head. Aroma is nice and herby with cloves and anise, as well as caramel and kandi. Body is creamy, with soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with raisins and dark fruits, sweet coffee and chocolate and a nice and spicy hint of anise.
3.8 bottle, 50 cl. Hazy orange brown with quite some yeast floating and slowly diminishing beige head. Strong star anise aromas combined with notes if caramel, yeast coriander and fruity hops. Taste is sweet malty, strong anise, spices, yeast and a fairly generous hoppy bitter finish, balancing things out. Smooth - a perfect match with traditional Danish x-mas fare like mustard glaced ham with kale.
3.7 Bottle. pours dark amber, with a moderate, lasting white head. Aroma is strong malt, with some noticeable spice to it (coriander, orange peel, and anise, perhaps?), and a whiff of alcohol. Flavor is rich caramel malts, again with some significant spicing, though it blends quite well (perhaps better than in the aroma, actually). Smooth mouthfeel. I quite like this.
3.3 Bottle. Christmas 2011. Anise Caramalty. Sweet licorice flavour and taste. Good body with a rater long finish. Fine brew preferable for the winter season.
3.3 Shared 0,5 l bottle from Vinmonopolet. Hazy chestnut body with a creamy, light brown head. Spicy, fruity and wooden nose. Sweet, toasted, wooden and alcoholic mouth. Full bodied. Syrupy texture. Medium carbonation.
3.7 50cl bottle from Vinmonpolet. Best before 2012-06-24. Batch 493. Poured a brown colour with a red hue and a huge foamy head that settled down fast. Aroma is sweet with notes of spices (anis and coriander) and malts. The belgian yeast is also present. Flavour is also spicy. The malts really come out and play around with the belgian yeast again as well as some sugar and syrup. Not as much spices in the flavour compared to the aroma which was a bit disappointing, but they are present. Mostly the anis. Hints of liqorice. A decent beer, but neither a good winter ale or a belgian strong ale. It’s just not a good mix of these two styles.
3.3 Bottle enjoyed at home Dark brown, thin beige head. Smells powerfully of anis, also some caramel and malts. Taste is quite one dimentional and malty, good sweetness. Dry on the palate, nice malt bitterness. Ok beer, but forgettable
3.2 100509: Slightly spicy scent (oddly enough, not anise). Sweet, heavy and strong spicy taste - slightly sharp taste both because alc. and the spices. It is important to say, that despite the scary name, it does not taste very much of anise. The flavor reminiscent of Belgian strong ale. Alcohol, spices and sweetness combine to make this a very good beer. But it would be better if it was a little less alcohol i think.
3.5 Nose is weak soap, decent caramel, cane sugar whiff, walnut, weak smoke, feel Is mediumwatery, carb is mediumlow, taste is decent sweet malt, cake, sweet alcohol, red apple,
3.8 Hazy brown with a lasting beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, light yeasty, oranges and light spicy. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Sweet and light bitter finish. 031211
3.8 A very good christmas beer. A bit spicy and very tasty. Dark in colour with slight white head.
3.9 0.5l bottle. This one pours a deep brown body with a red hue and a mild brown fading head. The aroma has nice spicy tones, lots of sweet caramel, sweet raisin, caramel malts and a licorice-anise spicy hint. Quite complex and not bad. Average carbonation level, full-bodied, warming with a nice rich and oily mouthfeel. Spicy and sweet flavors; lots of caramel and anise, licorice touches blended with milk chocolate and a nutty snickers-like flavors. Nuts and fudge perhaps? Ends really warming with a long and spicy aftertaste. Good stuff!
3.7 Dark amber pour with a nice tanned head. Aroma is strong on estery yeast notes, dark fruits, especially figs stand out very clearly, burnt caramel, spicy notes of anise, clove and cinnamon. The taste is very nicely balanced. Very sweet and estery, still has the figs and caramel, a slightly roasted note from the malts, some breadiness like rye bread. Also slightly spicy, anise cinnamon and cocoa. One of the bet danish Christmas beers I can think of.
3.7 Bottle as a gift from my son Mats at my 40 something birtday, thanks, Pours dark unclear brown with a huge creamy tanned head. Aroma of spices and chewy malts. Taste is dominated by the aniseed, with enough bitterness to make it tolerable and balanced. Me like a lot.
3.1 from tap @ Høkeren. 1 year old Stjernebryg. Clear dark brown/ruby, with off white small head, Aroma is tooth paste, lots of different spices, who dropped the spice rack? cinnamon, cloves, dried fruits, raisins, dates, malty sweet, light anis, burnt sugar, medium mouth feel, pretty sweet, caramel, very spiced, a bit confusing, with some clashing spices, dried fruits, light grassy, floral, light bitterness, brown sugar, molasses, caramel,
3.9 Bottle (dmg notes). Beautiful orange. Slight ethanol along with a lot of spices in aroma. Heavy taste with a lot of anis and spices. All that was readable on the note...
3.0 Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival-09.Pours brown with an off-white head.Aroma is spicy with some licorice and anis. Some fruitiness .Flavor is candy sweet and warming with some bitterness and yeast.Medium body, average carbonation.
3.5 500 ml bottle 2010, 8% ABV. Clear, dark amber body with a big, foamy off-white head that fades. Aroma is malty with spices, mainly anis and liquorices. Flavor is sweet and soft malty, spicy, a bit fruity, moderate bitter and with a sweet malty aftertaste. Quite OK, maybe just a bit on the sweeter side with some lack of bitterness.
