Hertog Jan Lentebock

Hertog Jan Lentebock

In the early days this was the last beer to be brewed before the warm summer season. It had an increased alcohol percentage so it would last longer.

2.6 Clear golden with a white head. Pilsner malt, slightly yeasty and wet dog smell. Medium sweet, medium bitter and softly acidic. Thin to medium bodied with medium carbonation. Not spectacular, reminds me more of a sweet lager.
2.6 The looks are OK but I do not want a beer just for the looks. slightly metalic, soapy and sweet.
2.8 Bottle from an Albert Heijn in Tilburg (I presume). Pours clear dark golden with a lasting, foamy, off-white head; little lacing. Not too inviting aroma of hand soap, spicy phenols, band aid, grass, white pepper, ripe banana & apricot. Taste is medium fruity sweet, estery, ripe banana & apple, and light spicy bitter, phenolic with yeast & grass notes; faint sourish wheat in the back, weird band-aid effect. Dryish, spicy & grassy hoppy finish, phenolic; grainy & alcoholic effect, bit wry. Medium body, oily texture, fizzy carbonation. Nope, not that good, nothing artisan about it, I can taste InBev has a hand in this now.
2.7 Drafg at S'Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. 29.07.2017. Taste with Misko. Pour it clear golden color with small white head. Aroma green apple. Taste sweet and sticky apple flavor, not so compact and exciting, light body, slick feel, average carbonation.
Volle, frisse, tarwige smaak, licht kleffig, flink moutig, banaan, zoet. (4-2011).
2.6 Clear dark golden beer with small white head. Aroma is malty, yeast and some freshness of fruits. Taste is modest sweet and bitter, malty and wheat. Thin feel. Overall average beer.
3.2 (Rate 13/05/18: 6-3-6-3-12 = 3.0) Clear dark golden pour with white head, faling down rather quickly. Fruity, malty and spicy aroma, soft sweet/caramel. Taste is soft bitter and mild sweet. Quite soft carbo. A very pleasant and easy drinkable beer, but nothing special or characteristic. (Re-rate 15/04/22: 6-3-7-4-12 = 3.2) This time a bit better retention and strong carbo, but less clear aroma including something metallic. Taste still moderate sweet (soft caramel) and mild bitter. Nothing particularly wrong with it, but nothing special either. I was a bit too critical though.
2.9 30cl bottle at home, bought at Albert Heijn. Appearance: clear golden with medium white head. Aroma: sweet malts, clove, banana, caramel. Taste: medium sweetness and high bitterness. Notes of plastic, clove, some banana. Palate: medium bodied, oily texture and medium carbonation. Meh
2.5 Clear. Amber colour. Sparse, bubbly head. Aroma is aggressively sweet fruit candy and malt. Taste is malt, vanilla bean, and orange.
3.2 Geruch schwach nach Honig, gelben Früchten. Im Geschmack Honig, Karambole, relativ viel Alkohol.
2.7 Goldig, klar. Geruch karamell, süßlich, leicht nach Apfel. Im Geschmack leicht süßlich, auch Apfel. Recht bitter, erfrischend, aber kantig.
3.0 Alkohol: 7,2% obj. Data ważności: 30.09.2018 Aromat umiarkowany w kierunku niskiego. Dodatkowo kapka drewna i ciemnych owoców. Goryczka wyraźna, lekko ściągający finisz. Wysycenie umiarkowane. Tekstura niska do umiarkowanej.
2.8 33cl bottle at my father-in-law. Pours a clear golden cokour with a moderate white head. Aroma of yeast, wheat, grain, pale malt. Taste is moderate sweet, medium bitter with a medium dry finish. Notes of malt, wheat, yeast, caramel, grass, hay. Texture is thin, medium to light bodied with moderate carbonation
2.1 Golden coloured ale. Tastes like sweetness, some slight fruitiness. Overall a very sickly sweet beer.
Weinig karakter. M: Weinig body en medium carbonatie.
2.7 (Tap) reuk vrij neutraal.
2.8 0.3 l bottle from ’AH’ (Groesbeek), best before September 2018. Clear, golden yellow with a thin, frothy, almost stable, white head. Sweetish, slightly yeasty-spicy aroma of caramel, vanilla, honey, some clove and a touch of banana. Rather sweet, malty and quite yeasty-spicy taste of caramel, clove, banana, honey and vanilla, followed by a short, moderately bitter, rather yeasty-spicy, almost peppery finish. Medium to full body, slightly creamy and quite effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Not a Bock, quite some top-fermenting yeast character, but drinkable and overall not bad.
2.0 LCI.
2.9 Bottle shared in Watford. Cheers to Fergus. Pours clear yellow-gold with a creamy, white head. The nose has some cheap, doughy malts, faint honey, crispy caramel. Heavy sweet flavour with some gummy candies, bread, jammy citrus, a little alcohol, crusty bread. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sugary finish, faintly warming, more lightly toasted sugars. Not all bad.
2.4 Bottle at home from the rot box. A clear golden orange coloured pour with a fading off white head. Aroma is sweet sticky malts, oxidised, apple, cardboard, mint, musty. Flavour is composed of sticky toffee,, brown sugars, toffee apple, musty. Palate is dusty, airy, moderate carbonation. Aged malty bock.
2.1 Goudgeel, helder bier. Bijna geen schuimkraag. Zoet, appel, mout. Limonade. Zacht.
2.5 Heel gewoon zoetig limonadebiertje. Amper spannend, typisch fabriekbier. Onvoldoende.
2.2 Pours rather clear , bit darker blonde. Smal white head. Smell is spiced, rather bitter, some sweetness. Taste is yoghurty, yeast, bit bitter, harsh, industrial sidenote. Spiced. Not too great
2.8 Bottle. Nice orange goldish color. Thick white head. Taste sweet, yeast, hints of herbs, citrus. Too superficial.
2.8 Fast gpne white head over rather big-bubbled orangeish golden beer, clear. Spices’ nose. Not intense, but a tad oppressive. Sweetish spices, and faintly peppery too, ginger even. Bitterish, first, and spicy (ginger springs too mind again); then toasted malts, getting sweeter . Finally the carbonation takes over. As it feels like sodawater with a spicy beertaste, that falls away, this seems to want to be a new kind of alcoholic rootbeer, it would seem. Ultra watery finish, high gravity brewing went too far??
