Zwart & Straf Winterbier

3.7 330mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma brings out an absurd amount of dark chocolate, followed by caramel, and Belgian yeast. Flavour is less chocolatey and more caramely, with dark fruits, Belgian yeast, bready malt, and a little toffee. Quite malty, but doesn't quite have the complexity of an elite Belgian Strong. Still, very good.
3.7 (bottle) clear, very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of raisins, buckwheat honey; balanced flavour with a long, medium bitter finish
3.8 330 ml bottle poured at home. Day 14 of the craft beer advent calendar. Pours almost black with a tan head. Smells like chocolate, rye and dark fruit. Taste is sweet with a dark fruit flavour and sweet malts. Soft palate with low carbonation and no alcohol taste, which was surprising for a 10% beer. This is really good.
3.7 Bottle. Black pour with a medium beigeish brown head. Aroma is sweet boozy soy, light char, light coffee. Mouth feel is lighter than expected, carb is good. Finish is sweet, and roasty, but not as much roast as you would think. The roast is soft and fruit, slightly bready, more Baltic porter. I don't feel this is Belgian, it's more of a fruit, soft Baltic porter. Alcohol is very well hidden, this packs a punch, and sneak up on you.
3.6 Bottle sample at SBWF19. Dark brown with off white head. Dark sugar, complex malt base, sweet, dried fruits and alcohol.
3.5 Slightly alcoholic smell mixed with sweet malt and grassy hops. It starts of mildly sweet with a strong liquorice taste, a solid body, but then the hops kick in, which for me don't go with the malty flavors too well. Mostly grassy hops, not too exciting. The alcohol is well hidden.
3.3 The beer has got a deep dark brown color with a creamy touch, steady head and medium body. Aroma of yeast and oranges. Taste of oranges, flowers, malt, yeast, bread. Belgian finish.
3.8 Dark brown/black color, small beige head. Aromas of brown sugar, herbs, dried fruit, marmalade and yeast. Taste of brown sugar, herbs, yeast, alcohol, dried fruit and licorice.
3.3 Brown liquid, small head. Aroma of iron, malt. Light body, average carbonation. Taste is sweet, a bit toasted, bitter.
3.7 RBESG 19 Grand Tasting. Bottle. Brown body, off white head. Heavy malty aroma, bacon, salt, oxidation, figs, whoa. Sweet taste, figs all over the taste mixing with leather, quite lean. Nice enough, full of character and the aging did some interesting things with it.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy brown color with beige head. Aroma is nice chocolate, bourbon, vanilla. Taste is bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, caramel earthy, dry finish. Silky mouthfeel with medium carbonation.
3.7 0,2l from a bottle @ The Belgian Embassy. Pours very dark brown with a low head. Aroma is sweet roasted malts. Flavor is sweet roasted malts with some coffee and some hops. Decent.
3.7 It’s like a cross between a strong beligian ale and a stout. The body struggles to keep up with the abv. But the roast is in nice balance with the dried fruit belgian flavour. online belgian beer factory bottle
3.8 5 January 2019. At Westies, Ghent. Cheers to Eurogamer crew! Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head; little lacing. Aroma of roasted peanut, toast, pear syrup, ripe plum, milk chocolate, candi sugar, brown rum, mocha. Taste is medium malty sweet, notes of butterscotch & syrup, hint of raisin; light spicy bitterness has 'spicy' licorice, clove, mocha too, rendering it a bit toasty, accent of blackcurrant. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering caramel, syrup & dark fruit, faintly spicy, licorice again, and warming brandy alcohol. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Still within the expectations of a 'Belgian Strong', but quite good.
3.5 Nice dark beer that reminds a little on the american black ales. Watch out for the alcohol as it is well hidden.
3.7 Poors nearly black indeed, beautiful mahogany hue, a little syrupy. Aroma sugary, plums, some touches of vanilla, caramel, well subdued alcohol. Taste the same, maybe a bit lighter, candi sugar, licorice. Nice spices/hops adding a little bitterness and a light grainy finish. Alcohol very well hidden, 10% abv hardly recognisable, finish maybe a little watery even. Well balanced, tasty, solid.

3.8 Bottled 0,33L. Dark/brown color, deep aspect, medium bubbly and long creamy and fomay white/nut head of long duration. Intence and rich nose, notes of strong alcohol, licorice, anis, dark riped fruit, yeast, roast caramel. Medium prickly and sweetish taste, strong and fraught alcoholic palate even if very equilibrate and pleasant. Roasty and caramel notes, rumors of yeast and dark riped fruit, soft toffee and licorice final.
3.8 A strong sweet smell of roasted malt, chocolate. The head is small, beige and fizzy, it disappears fast. The body is black. A malty and bitter taste, later on a strong among of chocolate. The body is quite strong, oily and creamy with a lively carbonation.
3.7 Clear black, dark ruby red, tanned lacing lasting foam head. Aroma is koffie, fruit and caramel. Taste is great, yet no stout. (Velp 201805)
3.3 Dark brown, tons of floaties at the last of the pour. Candi syrup, treacle, star anise, clove, brown bread, yeast. Lingering licorice and anise notes leave it a tan herbal on the finish. Alcohol well hidden. Bottle from the Rare Beer Club, aged a few years.
