Highland Black Mocha Stout

Highland Black Mocha Stout

Highland’s most robust beer, having a very malty body with a large, roasted chocolate flavor. It is black in color with a very clean finish and a moderate hop flavor.

3.4 Pours a deep brown to black khaki head. Aromas of malt and chocolate. Taste the same very smooth and malty. Nice beer. Light to medium mouthfeel.
5.0 great
3.8 12oz bottle. Pours thick dark brown with a full tan head. Lots of roasted and chocolate notes, flavors the same featuring dark malts, coffee, chocolate. Nice thick texture and a delicious chocolate, roasty finish. Very nice.
3.6 Pours up dark black, with a practically non existent tan head. Aroma was coffee and malts. Flavor matched the smell, coffee and chocolate with almost no hops coming through at all. Enjoyable, I would buy this again.
3.9 On tap at Tapworks. A good chocolate coffee stout whose aroma is matched by its flavor. Solid and always a good choice but there are some excellent beers in this profile.
4.0 Pours a very dark brown color with khaki colored head. Roasted malt, chocolate, and some caramel sweetness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with a lot of roasted malt flavors. A solid stout.
3.3 Thick oily pour with a medium creamy tan head. Robust roasted malts accompanied by a medium toffee flavor. The aroma just isn’t there to match the flavors in this brew. Overall, enjoyable roasted stout.
3.4 Light roast and some coffee and light cream. Some caramel. Decent tangy finish. Decent balance. Bottle.
4.1 One of good Highland beers. Smell of chocolate, coffee. Taste of bitter stout, cofee, dark, medium body, somewhat slimy texture. Good one.
4.7 A hearty stout, with notes of chocolate, coffee, toffee. Full, rich. Great in summer or winter. Goes well with just about any meal or solo.
3.7 Tap at Findleys Bar, Nashville, 10th July 16. Pours black, little head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, smoke. Taste is rich, dark chocolate, coffee, slightly smokey. Palate is slightly thin. Good overall
3.8 12 ounce bottle purchased at Outer Banks grocery. Chocolate, roasted coffee flavor. Very little bitterness aftertaste. Medium body, one quarter inch tan head with a little lacing. Very pleasant and drinkable stout, one of their better offerings.
3.6 Pours a nice jet black color, with a creamy reddish brown head. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, and smoke. Flavor is a nice blend of coffee and chocolate with a nice bitter smoke aftertaste.
3.3 It pours black with a small tan quickly fading head. It has a strong chocolate and roasted aroma. It has a thin body and tastes of chocolate, coffee and has a nice roasted flavor. I enjoyed this beer & am glad that I bought it.
3.2 BOD 12/1/15. Pours black. Outstanding head volume and lacing, world class retention. Light nose of roast and chocolate. Light body that is water like. Slightly below standard carbonation level with a bit of effervescence in the middle and a lackluster finish. The flavor profile is good. It lacks intensity (think stout lite...very lite) but is well balanced. The flavor is pretty much one dimensional and lacks complexity. It begins with a blend of light roast and chocolate. The middle adds a touch of hops but very little bitterness. The finish is a slow fade of the middle.
3.6 At the brewery: Chocolate and coffee on the nose and taste. A little more flavor than the porter but lower abv so mouthfeel is thinner. Not as much flavor or as complex. I prefer the porter.
2.9 Bottle - jet black with an average head, malty, a taste of ash, burnt toast and coffee. A little thin.
3.5 Black! Easy on the palate. Doesn't have a strong aftertaste. Good Highland beer.
3.8 pours a thick black topped off with a thick tan head, truly the way a beer should look to me. Aroma is of fresh brewed slow roasted coffee. Taste is of mocha and chocolates with a slight touch of cloves. thick but not too heavy, finishes smoothly.
4.1 Taste of black patent malts, dry coffee notes with some roasted chocolate, toffee. Black and opaque. Roasted coffee bean aroma. Full body. Big foamy cocoa colored head.
3.7 Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of toasted cereal, moderate herbs for the hops, light earth for the yeast, with background notes of coffee and dark chocolate. Head is small, frothy light brown with spotty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear very dark brown. Flavor starts faintly sweet and moderately acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A tasty easy drinking Stout
3.6 12oz bottle pours a black color with a bit of head. Strong roasted malt flavor and medium hop bitterness.
4.0 Highland Black Mocha Stout is not an in-your-face stout, but it is still enjoyable as a sessionable brew. Moderate malt aroma rising from a requisite dark pout with a nice tan head that stays well. Taste is malty with coffee and chocolate notes but not overwhelming with a clean finish. Black Mocha is definitely a nice everyday brew.
3.8 Bottle, Whole Foods Orlando. Rich mahogany colour with a deep tan head. Chocolate and roast malt aroma, earthy flavours, pleasantly dry with light metallic notes, then finishes with some tasty blackcurrant.
3.3 12oz. Brown bottle poured into a glass. Black with small beige head. Aroma is toasty, medium body, low carbonation, and some lacing. Taste is chocolate, toasty, and dry finish.
3.4 It pours black with a bit a light that gets through when held up to the light. The head is brown with lacing. It has aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, and maybe a hint of cinnamon or brown sugar. It has smoked flavors with chocolate.
3.6 Aroma I dark roast coffee and a bit of tobacco come wafting from the black liquid, the head is a soft khaki color floating atop. The flavor is a perfect example of the taste, but with dark fruits added for good measure...perhaps some overripe blackberries. The taste is lightly bitter, an umami with an edge. A good finish, short and not invasive at all. I’d definitely drink this again if someone were to offer it up!
4.2 Poured from the bottle at home. Pours a dark brown. Aroma is that of milk chocolate, coffee, Taste is great, milk chocolate, mocha, nice malts, faint dark fruit notes. Very smooth and creamy. Great Stout!
3.5 A decent Stout. Pours nice and black. Aroma was coffee and malts. Head was practically non existent. Flavor matched the smell, coffee and chocolate with almost no hops coming through at all. Enjoyable and I would buy this again.
3.8 Pours black with a slight brown head. Nose is coffee and cream with a nice burst of roasted barley and a touch of sweetness. Flavor, while not offering anything unusual for a sweeter stout, is rich and well-balanced and is surprisingly big for the relatively low gravity. Finished smooth and full of coffee. Above-average stout.
