Hill Farmstead Anna

Hill Farmstead Anna

Anna (1902 - ? ) was our grandfather’s sister; Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Honey Saison is crafted from American malted barley, European and American hops, Vermont wildflower honey, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. Unfiltered and naturally carbonated, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Anna.
6.5% ALC/VOL 14º P Ingredients: Pale Malt, American and European Hops, Vermont Wildflower Honey, Ale Yeast, and our Well Water.

3.8 Bottle pour in bottle share--thanks, Brian! Appearance is pale greenish-yellow with nice sparkle, thin cap of white foamy head with fair retention and trace lacing. Aroma is strong pleasant mix of sweet over tart fruit, florals and mild yeast. Taste is strong tart fruit with mild sweet offset. Mouthfeel is light side of light-to-medium bodied with thin texture, soft carbonation and finish as taste. Overall, good balance and strong flavors. I'm not a huge tart fan but undoubtedly well crafted.
4.4 Draft at Omaha Tap House, Pepperwood. Poured clear golden, thin white head. Aroma of sour fruit, lemon, lime, honey, zest. Taste was sour, tart, lime, fruity, very clean and well done.
3.9 (Keg at Mikkeller Helsinki, 20200606) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had tartness, fruitiness and grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were tartness, grain, fruitiness, spiciness, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was spicy and bitter. A pleasant tart and spicy brew.
4.1 January 1st, 2016 - It's been awhile since I've had the luxurious pleasure of enjoying a Hill Farmstead beer, but it meets expectations with the Anna. The nose features a rich, French style pear note, with some white grape juice for spine and acidity. The flavor is tangy, too, and comes across as very sour for a saison. The pear note in the taste is rich and sensual, too, and while the list of notes I can directly name is short, it is absolutely superb.
3.9 Bottle from the brewery. Pours hazy gold with a bubbly white head. Tastes like yeast, herb, cracker malt, and citrus. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like yeast, citrus, herb, and cracker malt.
4.3 Slight haze. Thin head. Straw colour. Light brett. Clean pale malts, as per the HF house signature. On the palate, deep brettanomyces, maybe a bit of wood, and again those clean pale malts. Simple and beautiful.
3.6 Hazy straw colour. Big, fluffy head. Refreshing and funky aroma of nettles and grapes. Refreshing and sourish taste of goose berries, nettles and grapes.
4.1 Aromat cytrusowy, skórka cytryny, delikatnie dziki w typie sianka, niska chlebowa słodowość w tle. W smaku cierpkie, owocowe, cytrusowe, nieco sianka. Cierpkie, odświeżające i gładkie.
3.9 Hazy golden body with large lasting white head. Aroma is citrus fruits brett honey in the background . Taste herbs barnyard fruits malts. Aftertaste is nice. Perfect.
3.5 .75 bottle pale golden hazy. Pretty nice sharp citrus on nose, meadows, florals, bit wit-like actually, but with a dupondy dirt dusty straw maltyness. Med bodied, med tart, really clean, citrus, piercing lemon peely finish. Right ok.
4.5 Poured straw colour with a slight haze. Thin white foam. Aroma is farmhouse, light malt. Taste is brett, sweet malt. Simple, and amazing.
3.4 Keg at Friends & Family beer festival, Manchester. Pale yellow shade. Small head. Taste is on the sour side, vinegar, apple cider, floral, citrus rind. OK but not as good as I hoped.
3.8 Tap at Armsby. Cloudy pale yellow with a large, foamy off white head that lasts and laces. Aromas of tart lemon, grainy, biscuit, funk, and light pine and floral notes. Flavor is the same with some wheat and honey notes as well. The sweetness of the honey cuts through the tartness well. Light plus bodied crisp with a dry finish.
4.0 On draft at Churchkey. Pours a hazy orange straw with an off white head. Aromas are floral and herbal. Flavors are slightly tart lime zest.
4.2 On tap at Liquid Gold in SF, CA with W Seyffer. Aroma is sweet grassy funk, meadow floral funk, honey, light yeasty bread, mild cobwebs. Taste is unique honey and floral funk, dry attic (in spring), funky hay. Incredibly unique funk, bright floral and honey vibes but somehow a bit rotten. Very special.

4.1 Bomber. Aroma of dry dunk and honey. (Bottle, once opened, was huge with honey aroma, but when poured light dusty funk advanced.) Flavors of honey, faint citrus and piney hops with maybe a hint of white grape. They honey lingers on the palate. Wow.
3.5 Bright. A little funky. Hint of honey. Pale effervescent gold with a foamy white head. Decent retention. Lots of lacing. Bright and crisp. Medium bodied. Finish like a dry white wine with a little bitterness on the very end.
4.3 Pale gold, merest hint of haze. Aroma full of lemon rind and citrus. Taste full of farmyard funk, tart citrus, hint of honey. Very sophisticated.
4.0 On tap at Bar Gernika, Boise. Soft haze on a very pale dull/golden pour. Intense lemony musty aromas and flavors. Light and soft palate. Quite a bit of Bretty character but lightbcitrus as well. Big flavors, quite good
4.0 White creamy head. Pale yellow colour. Aroma is hoppy with floral sour and fruity (apple pear and not ripe apricot). Flavor is hoppy too with floral, fruity (apple and pera) with sour tones, ending in a gently sour finish. Medium bodied.
