Hill Farmstead Florence

Hill Farmstead Florence

Florence (1915-1967) was our grandfather’s sister, and Hill Farmstead Brewery rests upon the land that was once home to her and her 13 siblings. In her honor, this Belgian inspired Wheat ale is crafted from American malted barley, Organic Vermont wheat, European and American hops, our distinctive farmhouse yeast and water from our well. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated. Soft, cloudy, and fresh, this is the ale that I dream to have shared with Florence.

4.3 750ml bottle. Poured a hazy golden color with an averaged sized head. Funky, tart wheat, lighter spiciness, floral, and just nice and drinkiable.
4.3 Big bottle. This beer is cloudy yellow with a large, firm head. Lovely yeast character is in the aroma with big notes of dough. A light hop presence adds a little herbal note. The flavor is slightly tart which I wasn't expecting based on the nose. The complexity is all over the flavor with hints of lemon, white pepper, coriander, Asian pear, all carried along by a remarkably creamy mouthfeel with sturdy wheat flavor. More hop bite becomes noticed in the finish as this is really dry. This could pass for an authentic Belgian ale. Truly remarkable.
3.4 Gezapft im Hawthornes in Philadelphia Klares Gold, fingerbreiter fester Schaum, wenig Kohlensäure Aroma: Bauernhof, Zitrus, Milchsäure ? Geschmack: Sauer, Zitrus, Grapefruit, speichelbildend. Nicht Bitter.
3.8 Bottle from the brewery. Pours almost clear bright gold with a fizzy white head. Tastes like lemon, white peach, yeast, white grape, and grass. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like yeast, herb, grass, and faint citrus.
3.8 Zapach intensywny, słód, cytrusy, trawa, chleb, kwiaty, stajnia. Kolor żółty, mętne. Piana niska, drobna, średnio trwała, lekki lacing. W smaku lekka słodycz, lekka kwaśność, niska pełnia, słód, cytrusy, chleb, stajnia, kwiaty, zioła, trawa. Goryczka niska, wysycenie średnie.

4.0 On tap @Ma che siete venuti a fà (Rome). Giallo paglierino, torbida, schiuma bianca media. Al naso note di stalla, cantina, lemon zest, cuoio, spezie. In bocca è molto citrica, acida e tart, bilanciata da una leggera dolcezza. Corpo medio, carbonazione brillante. Molto buona.
3.5 Draught @ Beer Run. Faintly cloudy pale yellow with small foamy white head, lightly acidic doughy aroma, high carbonation, medium sour lightly acidic malt taste, thin body, long balanced sour finish. Quite nice for a wild beer.
4.4 On tap at As Is. Pours hazy bright yellow. Pepper, lemon, funk, little barnyard, peach, apricot, grapefruit, herbal, minerally, sharp crisp finish. Beautiful light spritzy body. Outstanding.
4.8 Light tart farmhouse Saison, slight citrus
3.7 Turbid pale yellow beer with a slight off-white head. Medium aroma; taste starts medium sweet and ends slightly dry. Wood, wheat, saison, hops and citrus. 7/4/8/3
4.0 On Tap at Isaac Newton's in Newtown, PA. Pours medium gold and slightly hazy. Small white head. Nose is wheaty, tart and a bit minerally with an underlying barnyard funk. Taste is also fairly tart, a bit more mineral and that earthy farmhouse funk. Some lactic sourness. Fairly light body and fine carbonation. Acidic in the finish as well. Very complex and flavorful.
4.1 Bottle shared with Chris, Natasha, Preston, and Ryan: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is flowers, yeast and honey. Taste is super small hints of sourness. Nice honey notes. Very smooth. Great texture. Flowers abound. Little earthy touch at the end.
3.9 Bottle shared at CB. Pours a clearish gold with a full finger of white foam that lingers. Meyer lemon pith, grass, peppercorn and barnyardy wet hay aromas on the nose. Great mouthfeel with spritzy carbonation, lactic sour tartness with lemon and light white grapefruit and apricot flavors. Lingering tartness on the finish with some pith and pepper and more wet hay.
3.9 Seemingly the wheat adds a creamyness though does not change the appreciation of flavor much. Sour finish dominates palat.
4.1 Pours a golden and hazy character. Smells wehaty, tart, a bit of mineral and laker water type smell, an underlying barnyard funk, but not too prominent. Taste is also fairly tart, a bit of the mineral, earthy and lake water flavour. A lactic sourness, fairly light body and fine but fairly high carbonatin. Acidity in the finish as well. Very nice.
3.9 Bottle at Cloudwater Unit 9, thanks Connor! White wine, grapes, bretty, oak barrel aroma. Clear pale yellow color with no head. Tart and sour, citrusy, oaky tarty and acidic taste. Thin body, average carbonation.
4.5 Loved this sour

4.3 Keg, Brewdog Edinburgh. It's a near perfect Saison. Hazy lemon yellow, foamy head. Tart initially then loads of herbs, grass, citrus taste. Aroma is hay, herbs, lemon It's hard to say why, but the balance is spot on. It is just really well made, tasty, pretty much perfect
4.0 Tap from Brewdog Aberdeen and the end of my Hill Farmstead adventure today (So happy with Brewdog Flagship). Pours a hazy light yellow-gold with a thin white top. Light and peachy-sweet with a soft mineral and underripe fruit tartness. First sip and you know this is the one that could be quaffed day long. Medium-light bodied with a bubbly fresh fizz. It's easy drinking yet full of character and layers. Perhaps not the depth of today's Anna, but an incredible, light, fresh Saison. I loved it.
4.0 Keg at BD TH, 13/11/18. Light haze on a golden orange pour with a decent off white covering. Nose is tarte citric peel, green berry must, damp straw, grass, tarte melon. Taste comprises gentle citric pith, tangy melon, green berry funk, all very subtle, light spice, grass, oak, hint of funk. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Solid saison ... comes together very well.
4.0 On tap at BrewDog Tower Hill. Hazy gold colour lasting white head. Lighter than the Anna and not got the funk. Still as a fruity tangerine satsuma saison it's pretty good. Dry very dry. Yes very drinkable orange led dry saison. Good.
4.1 Keg at Brewdog metro mayhem. A translucent yellow straw coloured pour with a lasting thin white head, Aroma is lovely white grape, tangy apricot, mellow funk, brett,. Flavour is composed of crisp, light straw, tangy white grape, light must. Palate is crisp and tangy, highish carbonation, delicate. Nice. Good mellow funk.
4.6 Bottle from Dranken Geers. Lightly hazed pale amber beer with a medium white head which dissipates to the edges. Nose is stunningly delicate and balanced. Fruity, lemon, banana, white wine vinous, sour and tart, pale wheat, sweet, little lactic wheaty creaminess, custard, little caramel and burnt meringue. It’s like a mixture of Saison Dupont and 3 Fonteinen. Amazing balance. Taste is lightly tart and sour, fruity lemon peel, white wine vinous, wheated pale grains, white wine vinegar, baked meringue, French baguette. If Saison Dupont is big incredible flavours, then this is one of the most refined, delicate beers I’ve ever had.
