4.0750ml growler pour at Hill Farmstead. Pours slightly hazy, golden yellow. Natural citrus flavor, bitter hop finish. Not too overwhelming. Goes down easy and very enjoyable. In terms of IPAs, one of the best out there.
3.7From notes. Had this one at Doug’s house for a celebration of his birthday on May 14. 750 mL flip-top. Hmm. Didn’t realize this was the Grassroots label. The pour is a hazy straw yellow color with a large white head that falls to a film, leaving a good bit of lace behind. The aroma is interesting. There is a very floral hop to it, with a light tropical fruit. There is a slight grassiness and a light malt backbone. It’s pretty good. The flavor is very similar. There is a strong floral hop and grassiness to it with a light maltiness and a decent tropical fruit addition. The mouth feel is a little heavy for an IPA and the carbonation doesn’t help. The aftertaste is grassy and floral with a light fruitiness and malt finish. Not my favorite Hill Farmstead IPA, but it’s a good brew.
4.5Growler from brewery. Pours slightly hazy straw with some frothy head and lots of clumpy lacing. Nose is floral and juicy citrus. Taste of bright citrus, grapefruit, some lemon. Taste medium bitter, light/medium sweet. Full sticky body with lively carbonation and lasting bitterness. So nice.
3.9Tap at Hops Hill, Brooklyn. Pours hazy pale yellow, big fluffy white head. Aroma is tangerine, peach, mango, really bright and aromatic citrus notes, pine, floral notes, lemon, orange. Some mild dank notes as it warms and bit of grass. Flavor is pine, peach, orange rind (that?s prominent), floral, lemon. Really nice. Bitter piney finish. Pleasant mouthfeel, nice effervescence, I wouldn?t mind less (ala Maine Beer Co style light carbonation) but still quite nice.
3.8750ml growler. Hazy golden yellow with a frothy white head. Flavors are sweet cereals, grapefruit, melon, lime zest and garlic with dank and grassy notes. Medium body, moderate carbonation, smooth texture.
3.9Lemon citrusy hoppy aroma with a grapefruit almost sour aroma. Very nice. Taste adds in a resinous piney hop which goes all the way to the finish. Balanced nice ipa, piney dominates the hop profile though. Light palate, strong piney hops but still easy drinking. Well made ipa, would like less piney but so well made I can’t knock the rating much due to that.
3.7Draught @ Blind Tiger Alehouse. Hazy pale yellow with creamy white head, citrus aroma, medium carbonation, bitter citrus peel taste, thin body, long bitter citrus peel finish. Very citrusy IPA.
3.9Mekelburg,s, Brooklyn tap: pours hazy orange yellow with a white head. Aroma is lemony citrus, biscuit, other tropical fruits, and maybe a hint of flowers. Taste is not very bitter. Does not seem like a really hefty IPA. Nice dry fruitiness. Nice light finish. Pretty splendid.
4.110 oz. draft at RR. Pours cloudy with moderate foam that leaves nice lace. Aroma is lime rind, pale malt, and mild biscuits. Taste is similar with a nice mouth feel, and bergamot finish. One elegant beer.
4.2On tap at blue dog waiting for PtY. Cloudy pale yellow pour with a white head. Aromas of light citrus fruits, tangerine, slight pineapple, lemon. Taste is medium light bitterness. Soft mouthfeel. Goes down real easy. Not super juicy like some of those other NE hoppy beers but still awesome.
4.4July 16, 2015. On tap at Hill Farmstead and a growler for breakfast the day after.
Cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is fruity with pineapple, orange, lemon zest, hints of papaya, grass and light biscuit notes. Taste is light to medium sweet, fruity, soft grassy bitterness. Finish is light fruity sweetness with pineapple, papaya, some juicy orange notes, hints of biscuit, medium grassy bitterness, light crisp mineral notes. Medium bodied, soft to average carbonation, rounded texture with a light crisp note.
Great!

3.9Tap on 12/22/15. Pours a hazy dark straw. Fluffy white head. Nose is citrusy hops, grapefruit, juice. Taste is the same and grass, white pepper. Dry and yummy.
4.0Growler from the brewery, shared at the 10th Annual Epic & Unusual Beer Tasting, 11/29/15. Hazy orange, large foamy off-white head, decent retention. Aroma of herbal, piney, mango, grapefruit hops ,pale malt. The taste is piney, tropical hops, fresh grapefruit, pale malt. Medium bodied, well balanced.
3.6On tap at Hill Farmstead. An unclear pale yellow colored beer with a finger-thick white head. Lacings. The aroma is piney and grapefruity, with some citrus peel and pineapple. It’s dry, bitter and soft on the palate, with flavors of pine cones and grapefruit dominating. Not much malts to be detected. Lasting finish with pine cones and grapefruit. An easy drinkable and quenching beer. 150610
3.9Tap. Blackback Pub, Waterbury, VT. Hazy, dark straw colour. Thin, lasting, white head. Sweet malts. Strawberry and mango hop. Sweet, white pear. Taste is soft, earthy bitter. Soft mouthfeel. Finishes stone fruit, earthy bitter.
3.8Draft at Prohibition Pig. Pours a slightly hazy light orange yellow color with an off white head. Aroma is tropical fruits, touch of malty sweetness. Flavor is a bit more mellow than most HF stuff. Still solid though.
4.2Pours murky yellow with low white head. Aroma of citrus, mango, passion fruit, pine, the entire fruit bowl... Yum! Taste is mellow fruit sweet with a gentle bitterness present through to the finish. Incredibly smooth and balanced. Body is light and smooth with soft carbonation. These guys certainly know their shit!
3.7750 mL growler. Originally reviewed 6/17/2013.
Hazy pale orange. Small white head. Doesn’t retain very well. Wispy surface.
Nose is very grassy and herbal. Slight sweetness.
Taste is grapefruit hop. Sweetness kicks in. The herbal and grassy notes hold off until the finish. Moderate bitterness in the finish.
Medium body. Sweetness keeps it from being light. Medium bitterness and medium low carbonation.
Pretty good, but one dimensional. Very clean, but I’d go for a different hop profile.
3.8Draft @ The Pony Bar - 1st Ave, New York. Pours a hazy golden color with a small white head. Has a fruity grapefruit hoppy piney aroma. Fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty grapefruit hoppy bitter finish.
3.7Very hazy gold ale pour with a big fluffy white head. Dank notes with tropical fruits, pine, earth, and a bit of caramel. Big, bitter, long finish. A bit too big and bitter for me but a damn fine example of that style of brew.
3.5Hazy gold pour, white head. Vaguely sweet aroma of hay, super bitter flavor, Grassy and floral, with a big malty backbone. Tongue strippingly bitter. Did not live up to expextations but still good.
4.0On tap at Blue Dog. Poured a golden color with a small sized head. Citrus, pine and some earthiness with a touch of caramel.
4.5Huge pine, dank/resin, lemon, grass, floral, light apricot/nectarine, crackery sweetness, raw graininess. Long bitter/fruity finish. Balance is amazing, creamy/oaty mouthfeel.
4.2On tap at Prohibition Pig brewpub, Waterbury, Vermont.
This was poured into a half pint glass, the brewpub normally pours it in.
The appearance was a hazy blurry yellow color with a slim white little head that dissipated and left no lacing.
The smell started off with a sweet citrus and sweet grassy blend leading into subtle crisp tropical fruits and underscored by just a little bit of bitter pine.
The taste had a moderate amount of sweetness with some light bitterness of the pine carrying itself back into the balance of it all. A light citrus aftertaste runs into the finish.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a nice sessionable crispness carrying itself along my tongue.
Overall, this was a very nice AIPA that I would have again.
3.8Golden with white head. Aroma of grassy and floral hops. Medium body, lightly carbonated. Floral and lightly piney hop flavor, off-dry, crisp refreshing finish, good balance. Very nice.
Nose is earthy, floral, lemon, well water. Taste is juicy hops, some lemon, more citrus fruits, earthy, floral. Lingering bittering hops on the finish.
