3.6Can from brewery. Pours clear straw some head and minimal lacing. Notes are grassy, light pepper, some biscuit. Light bitter light sweet. Full sticky body lively carbonation.
3.912 ounce can. Pours a somewhat cloudy gold with a nice white head. Aroma of malt, grain, yeast, and grass. Taste is similar. Excellent Pilsener!
3.5Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Hoppy aroma, malts, noble hops, light white wine. Bitter flavour, hops, sweet malts. Sweet malty finish, noble hops, Nice pilsner!
(from 355mL can @ our Jersey hideout. Thanks for the can, Doug!)
4.1Got in a BIF from TheDoctor. 12 ounce can into lager glass, canned on 8/6/2018. Pours lightly hazy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of big lemon, orange, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of pale malt and citrus/earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, orange, citrus peel/zest, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, orange, citrus peel/rind, peppercorn, pine, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of pale malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Moderately crisp/clean finishing. Perfectly clean on lager flavors, with zero yeast notes presence. Moderate increasing dryness from bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is fantastic. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.6%. Overall this is an outstanding German pilsner! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of pale malt and citrus/earthy hop flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and refreshing to drink with the moderately bitter/resinous/drying finish. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Felt just a tad too aggressively bitter/hoppy I thought, but still ending nicely crisp/clean as it should be. Perfectly balanced clean pils malts and citrusy/earthy noble hop complexity. A highly enjoyable offering, and outstanding style example as expected.
4.1Can. Grassy, herbal nose, light citrus, lovely crackery malts. Pale gold, hazy, medium head. Lemony, herbal hop flavor, light and crisp crackers, a touch of bread, with a sharply bitter finish. Extremely crisp and refreshing. Excellent. German, but feels American too.
3.4Aroma is grapes berries, tart dough, prickly pear, slight citrus, a bit farty. Taste is balanced bitterness and sourness, citric, quite creamy and heavy. Slight starchy.
3.3(can) hazy pale golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of green bell peppers and yeast, with a light touch of sugar icing, some grass and manure. flavour is mostly peppermint and yeast, with lots of candle wax, wildflower honey and a light-bitter powdered sugar finish. rather full-bodied with average carbonation. not bad.
3.9Draught at some Arcade place Burlington. A really nice hoppy light floral and a bit grassy pils. Clean.
3.912 oz. can, canned 07/02/18. Ar: Cracker malt; medium intensity austere noble hops, with a lemon, dried mixed herbs, and woody character. Ap: Yellow and hazy; large white head with phenomenal retention, leaving an airy cap of foam that slowly recedes with chunks of lacing on the glass sides. T: Clean cracker malt; a bit of sulfur; touch of earthiness; clean fermentation profile; almost no sweetness; medium, clean bitterness, with a moss, black pepper, and mixed dried herbs flavor; a little chalk and bread; finish is clean, steely bitters and spicy hops. P: Medium-light body with high carbonation; dry finish. O: A very tasty German-style pils; malt character is on the clean side, with hops having a very Continental profile.
4.0Bierbüchse( Dank an die Garching-Gang!): Hazy, pale greenish golden, slowly collapsing creamy white head, spicy bitter-sweet nose of herbal-flowery "Saazy" hops, grains and a certain amount of pale malt underneath; solid bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied, extremely soft; clean and lingering "Saazy" finish with a good malty counterpart. Very close to a Schönramer Grünhopfen-Pils or a Witzgall Landbier, oh yes! Great experience...
4.1Can shared at Leightons place, Hackney 16/08/2018. A crystal clear golden yellow coloured pour with a fine sticky white head. Aroma is nice crisp, honey, cereal, honey,. Flavour is composed of, semi sweet, light honey, cereal, honey. Apple,. Clean and crisp. Palate is semi sweet, moderate. Carbonation. Lovely.
3.9Can, courtesy of SinH4. Pours clear golden, heavy stable foam. Aroma is grassy, a bit too hoppy, a bit floral. Body is medium, very balanced and smooth, herb, herbal too, but not overdone, just a bit too hoppy to be absolutely true to the style. Very good!
3.7Malts, herbs and some grass in nose. Pours golden with white head. Taste is medium dry with herbal hoppy notes on the nice malty backbone. Medium bitter finish, average carbo. Overall very good, refreshing. On tap at source.
3.8Fresh can, thanks Brennan and Stefan! Pale golden, fluffy offwhite head. Very nice floral citric aroma, classic but turned up a notch. Medium body, mellow sparkly, well-turned on the palate, light grainy, great balance, nice aromatics, sticking a bit on the tongue afterwards. Well impressed.
4.1Can, many thanks Brennan! Hazy golden color with white head. Aroma is fresh grassy hops, tiny biscuity malts. Taste is grassy hops, leafy, light citrus, crackery malts, quite light (maybe a bit too light? But for a Pilsner this is ok). Oily creamy mouthfeel with natural carbonation. By far the best US Lager I've had, utterly amazing, hats off Shaun! The only criticism I could come up with is maybe it has a little bit too much hops and is a bit too sweet in the back.
3.8Draft at the source. Hazy yellow color white ice cream cone head. Light hay aroma. Taste is lightly peppery straw. Clean crisp finish. Tasty
3.0Tastes like a flower, the initial taste is a little underwhelming, as if it had been freshly watered. followed swiftly by the orchid taste with some after acid.
3.512oz can shared by Meadme.
4.0On tap at Hill Farmstead. Pours a beautiful crisp golden amber. Very complex malty aroma. Subtle flavor - light bitterness. Smooth but intense. Very good.
Belle profondeur.
3.2On tap at Gold Star Beer Counter. Pours slightly cloudy golden with white head. Some herbal notes, malty, sweet, some light+ bitterness in finish. Moderate carbonation. Light bodied. Proper classic pilsner, but I guess I'm not a big fan of those.
3.9I can see why this unfiltered pils is up there with the best. Slightly hazy yellow gold. Herbal grassy hops on the nose with a strong grainy undertone. Feel is off the charts for the style. Flavor has sweet cereal, herbal hops. Not quite traditional, but quite good. Would be a 4+ if not for the oregano note on the nose. Not unpleasant, just seems it doesn't quite belong.
4.0Can from a trade, appearance is clear yellow with light white head. Aroma is grass like with herbal undertones. Taste is very clean with light notes of grass and a dry crisp finish. So damn tasty.
3.9Can: Poured a clear golden color pilsner with a large pure white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of clean cereal notes with light dry hoppy notes. Taste is a nice easy drinking mix of clean cereal notes with some light leafy hops notes with well-balanced level of residual sugar notes. Body is about average with good carbonation. I loved the clean cereal notes and the well-balanced level of residual sugar.
3.7Can thanks to bytemesis! Nice example of a German Pils. A little fruity with a nice crisp bitter hoppy finish. Easy drinking road soda.
3.7Slightly cloudy, golden to pale yellow pour with a single finger white head. Aroma is full of classic German hops. The aroma reminds me of Miller Lite, but 10x better. Taste has some bready notes and finishes dry and crisp. Floral hop character at the end. Very drinkable with loads of flavor. Extremely clean fermentation. Medium bodied.
3.8Draft at Armsby Abbey. Pours golden with a white head. Leaves a lot to lacing in the glass. Nice floral and citrus notes on the nose and tongue. Finished crisp and clean. Very quaffable.
3.9Dégustée au printemps 2015 au Farmhouse Tap & Grill de Burlington. .
4.4*6/5/2014
on tap at Hill Farmstead poured into a tasting glass.
A~ looks exactly like a white gummy bear haha with a nice tight head and some lacing.
S~ tons of pils malt along with honey and molasses.
T~ nose is right on! amazingly clean with more sweetness here, this could really be brewed with a bit of honey.
M~ great carbonation of course, incredibly clean and just all around refreshing!
O~ i missed out on this last time, i’m glad i finally got to try it. i think this is definitely my favorite pils. thats definitely not saying much cause i generally don’t go for the style but i could drink this every day! 100th HF and the like review!
