3.9 Draft at Tria Taproom. Cloudy yellow pour with a lasting topping of thick meringue foam. Fuzzy lemon citrus fruits. Apricot. Grapefruit. Lavender. Vanilla. Sugary florals. Juicy and full. Nicely done.
4.0 Can from a friend. Hazy yellow color, white head. Bitter taste with citrus, floral hops, resin, mango, caramel and grass. Bitter finish with citrus, floral hops, resin, mango, caramel and grass. Excellent imperial IPA.
3.9 Pours a hazy, banana yellow, with a mid-sized, lasting head (this looks just about perfect, as far as NEIPAs go). Aroma is a bit chalky, grassy, with some citrus, some pine/spruce hops. Flavor is also a bit on the chalky side, with a slight sweetness, loads of citrus flavor, and some hop bitterness to the finish. Good, but Top 50 good?
3.9 750ml growler from the brewery, pours a hazy yellow with some sticky, white head. Nose has lime, chive, grass, melon, grapefruit, hand soap, herbs. Flavor has some honey and light vanilla, then the citrus, tangerine and orange and grapefruit, melon, guava too. Finishes creamy, punchy, lightly bitter.
4.0 Bottle. Cloudy pale yellow pour with a thin white head. Tropical fruit, slight herbal notes, low carbonation, a little zesty. Nice.
4.0 Thanks to Eric for this. Pours light hazy golden yellow with a small white top. Aroma is orange and light grapefruit hops with light grassy notes. Taste is juicy orange and a touch of grapefruit hops with moderate bitterness. Light malt notes but stays in the background.
4.2 Pours hazy apricot/golden with low white head. Aroma of pineapple, passion fruit, light mango, papaya. Taste is fruit sweet with a light bitter finish, very nicely balanced. Light and smooth body with soft carbonation.
4.5 Can from the source. Very pale cloudy yellow orange with lasting head and full lace. Wicked dank melon pineapple grapefruit aroma. Medium light wicked tropical sweetness with light grapefruit bitterness and tropical fruit pineapple finish. Light body (somehow at 7.8%) very soft medium-low carbo. This is how NE IPA is supposed to be done -- not fizzy, not bready, WICKED FUCKING EXCELLENT.
4.0 Tap at The Farmhouse Burlington. Slightly hazy dark yellow with a good sized long lasting head. Rich earthy citrusy grapefruit and pine with bits of sweet bread to counter. Very tasty clean well made brew.
3.6 Where and how: Vermont – restaurant, listed @ 8.1% Aroma funky citrus, fresh mango, alcohol well hidden. Smooth, refined. Appearance : Top: large long lived top with some lace on glass walls. Base: light haze on deep gold Palate : heavy full bodied, average carbonation, longer finish, average dryness. Taste:slightly funky, phenolic feel, not the smoothest creation unlike aroma. Mild alcohol heat pops out. Aroma promised much more.
4.1 Draft at Armsby Abbey. Pours pineapple yellow with a white head. Leaves trace lacing. Lots of grapefruit on the nose and tongue. Not a ton of bitterness which makes this one very quaffable.
4.2 Draft at Harbor Bar. Murky yellow-orange, frothy head, lots of lace. Nice, juicy hop aroma. Grapefruit and resin. Pineapple. Clean, juicy, and mid-bitter. Really tasty.
3.7 Draught @ The Jeffrey. Hazy, almost millky beight yellow with small frothy whitish head, very faint dusty citrus peel aroma, medium carbonation, lightly bitter taste with pineaple, and bit of grapefruit, smooth body, longish medium bitter finish. Very very smooth and deceptively easy to drink.
4.0 *8/16/2013 750ml growler poured into a Hill Farmstead oversized wine glass. A~ crazy glowing light yellowy orange that gets lighter towards the bottom of the glass. big fluffy white head with a ton of lacing. S~ a lot of natural earth and grass. some citrus notes, grapefruit, mango, lemon, lime, etc... all followed by a lot of hop presence. T~ follows the nose with way more earthy pine bitterness that over takes your pallet leaving behind the juiciest tropical blend that seems to linger into a... run on sentence hahaha! (into a...) delicious, mellow, all around perfect IPA. M~ as smooth as could be. extremely nice carbonation and very refreshing. great summer brew! O~ might be my favorite of the "regular" IPA S&S series, the black IPA comes first for me though! if you’re in a happy, hoppy mood you can’t get any better than this. i’m gonna call it a fruit beer/IPA lovers dream.
3.6 Odd aroma w/ a cool pale gold pour. It’s not overly bitter. Decent overall!
4.5 Probably could give this a perfect rating. Nothing wrong with it. Orange cloudy draft pour at Prohibition Pig. Juicy citrus aroma. Taste is juicy citrus perfection.
3.8 750ml growler @ Alex’s. Pours a cloudy golden colour with a thin white head. Nose is sweet, fruity, with some dank hop notes. Flavour is pithy, tongue tingling pith bitterness, while fruit and mildly sweet.
4.0 750ml growler (thx, Jonathan J.!). Growlered on 2016-04-01. Pours a cloudy blond with a white head. Aroma is dank, tropical fruits. Taste is similar. This one is quite similar to the beers which Twin Sails, Boombox or Superflux brew in BC. Maybe it is just a little bit better balanced than the beers of the mentioned breweries, which is not a surprise taking into account for how long HF brews this. It is definitely not something from the next level of brewing, since, for example, Superflux Colour and Shape b1 and b4 maybe taste even better.
4.1 Courtesy of Sergey Cloudy to murky blond color, medium head. Fruity aroma, very zesty. Lean body, not too sweet, with delicate pale malts, bitter zest character, a bit chalky in the final. Very good.
3.4 Bottle, from and with Alexandre Serre et Hugue Lebel (merci!), savoured on August 6 2016; eye: orangey, hazy, sheet of white head, slight lacing; nose: malt, tangerine, residual sugar, citrus fruits; mouth: malt, tangerine, residual sugar, citrus fruits, finale in citrus fruits with presence of malt-caramel, medium body, average carbonation, mildly sweet, lightly fleshy texture; overall: correct FRANÇAIS Bouteille, de et avec Alexandre Serre et Hugue Lebel (merci!), savourée le 6 août 2016; œil : orangée, trouble, couverture de mousse blanche, très légère dentelle; nez : malt, tangerine, sucre résiduel, agrumes; bouche : malt, tangerine, sucre résiduel, agrumes, finale en agrumes avec présence de malt-caramel, corps moyen, carbonatation moyenne, moyennement sucrée, texture légèrement charnue; en résumé : correct
4.1 Tap at fools gold walking by and had to pop in. Lighter cloudy orangy yellow pour smallish head. Nose is. I’ve citrus and some florals. Tastes of grapefruit, mango, floral, grassy light dough. Zippy palate. Very refreshing.
4.1 Fresh 750ml swing-top bottle purchased at the brewery, cloudy blonde hue, with a frothy bubbly white head, with a nice fruity yeasty, doughy, lemon rind nose, with some lemon pie, floral citrus, leafy, grassy, light tropical fruit hop accents, and some citrus rind, faint tropical fruit, lemon, pineapple, subtle lemon pie crust, lemongrass notes in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a very good fruity flowery citrus, leafy, grassy, minty, tropical fruit hoppy character, with some yeasty, zesty lemon, grapefruit peel, lemon pie, subtle lemongrass, mint leaf, fruity yeast, doughy, subtle panettone cake dough flavours, leading towards a fruity citrus rind, fruity yeastiness, lingering citrus, leafy, grassy hop bitterness finish.
4.1 Draught. Pours a cloudy straw-orange color - reminiscent of grapefruit juice - with a large foamy white head. Aroma is floral hops, grapefruit, mango, and pineapple. Big grapefruit taste with caramel malt, bread, and some pine. Strong bitter finish. Full body. Medium carbonation. Heavy, bready, creamy mouth feel.
3.9 Pours an orange, hazed color with a decent, bubbly white head. Smells of a pleasant tropical crispness, defined by orange pulp, tangerine and lemon zest, topped off by a chunk of juicy blood orange and pineapple. Cakey malts, white bread crust and wet grass, together with a note of blueberry bush build up the subtle malt balance in this, creating a nose which comes very well together. Drinks silk, incredibly soft with a nice, juice accompanied hop bite, which gets wrapped up by toffee malts with a prevailing, long lasting dryness on the tongue. Drinks very gentle with no indication of the higher abv apart from the noteable malt backbone during the finish. Tastes of a nice lemon crispness, which gets a fruity quality due to fresh peeled oranges and wet grass with an immediate dry bite. The hop bite gets tamed by the fluffy, soft mouthfeel and bready malts, which turn cakey sweet during the mid palate. Develops a prickly kiwi sourness during the finish, soothed by blood orange and juicy, dry lemon with an ongoing, supportive malt foundation. Not overly complex but well brewed with an awesomly soft mouthfeel and a pungent, well nuanced hop punch.
4.6 Thus far a top 3 IPA I’ve ever had. Thanks a ton Adamchandler. Pours a solid peach colour. Light foamy head with lacing. Big citrus all over the place. Aromas of grapefruit, grapefruit rind, tropical fruit. Similar flavours. Great citrus bitterness and sweetness. I literally feel like I’m drinking liquified citrus rind. Stunning.
4.2 Tap at Bridgview Tavern, Tarrytown, NY. Pours hazy golden, with fluffy white head. Aroma is citrus, tropical fruit, grapefruit rind. Taste is light tropical fruit, citrus forward, faint bitter grapefruit rind. Slight malty cracker and a slightly sweet honey finish. Above average bitterness, clean, smooth mouthfeel. Solid beer.
4.2 Draft sample at the source. The beer is a cleqr gold with a white head of foam. Great head retention. The aroma has citrusy and earthy pine notes. Some vanilla peaks through. Finishes dry and juicy. Medium and soft carbonation. Really nice.
4.1 750ml growler fill on site consumed 2 days later. Pours a dark orange almost burnt, very hazy, with a nice off white thinly foamed head with proper lacing. Smells of hops, a bit of malts and citrusy grapefruit. Great bitter taste of grapefruit immediately and then other citrus, floral and earthy hoppy backbone. Drinks super easy and smooth with a nice full mouthfeel. Another hit by Hill Farmstead. Way to go.
4.0 From the growler filled on August 20, 2016. The pour is a milky looking pale yellow-orange under a white moderate head. Spice, herbs, and grapefruit round out the aromas along with a white bread malt base. Medium to full body. This has the tartness of grapefruit but the flavor tends to bring out the herbal characters more with the same malt sweetness underneath. Bitter finish. No booze.
