Hirter Morchl

Hirter Morchl

The Hirter Morchl is not just a unique brand – its production method also differs from that of other dark beers. The beer’s seductive color is due to the dark brewing malt, hops and caramel malt, while its smooth taste comes from the soft mountain spring water used in the brewing process. Left to mature in a prolonged aging process, it’s GMO-free, non-pasteurized and completely natural. Beer lovers will appreciate its dry maltiness on the palate and pleasantly rounded, faintly bitter finish. 12.8°

3.2 500mml. bottle as part of the "European Local Swap 3/2019", many thanks @Sebilinz. @Sarria, 30/11/2019. [#3.121 Global - #42 Austria - #1 Brauerei Hirt (My brewery #25 from Austria)]. Dark amber to brown colour with a medium beige head. Aroma is caramelized malts, soft toffee, dried fruits and roasted malts. Taste is the same, intense caramelized malts and soft dried fruits. Bready finish. Next one please!
4.0 Tap at paddy’s. Black, malt to a hint of anise , but lager smooth through finish;
3.1 Bottle. Clear dark amber, beige head. Caramel, toasted malt, brown bread. Not bad.
3.5 Dark brown, medium head & carbonation. Nose is malty, caramel. Malty, smooth, edging to sweetness
3.3 0,5 bottle.Nice, "bock-like maroon color" with light nice head. It also smells of caramel, dried fruit and spicy hops, which are more typical of bock beer. Head: coffee colored and creamy. It’s a little lighter, wetter than you’d like to taste, overall a delicious drinking brown beer, one of the really tastier ones. *** Szép, bak-jellegű gesztenyebarna szín, világos szép habbal. Illata szintén inkább bak-sörre jellemző karamelles, aszalt gyümölcsös, mellette fűszeres komlós is. Hab kávészínű és krémes. Ízre vártnál picit könnyedebb, vizesebb, összességében egy finom ivó-barna sör, a tényleg finomabbak közül.
4.0 Pivo kupljeno u Plodinama, boca 0,5... boja tamnotamnocrvena, bogata pjena i izvrstan okus... karbonizacija odlična... vrlo pitko i fino pivo... svaka preporuka!
3.7 4 August 2018. At Lucky Wok, Vienna. Cheers to Anke! Pours hazy brown with a lasting, small, foamy, tan head; little lacing. Intense aroma of caramel, toast, pear syrup, ripe plum, candied date, peanut, licorice. Medium to heavy malty sweet onset with lots of caramel, bread & dates, making way for a light herbal bitterness that carries some 'spicy licorice' with it and a toasty effect; dryish, herbal hoppy finish, a bit toasty & smoky even, but overall the lingering caramel has the final word. Medium body, slick to syrupy texture, fizzy carbonation. What a pleasant surprise, quite rich for a Dark Lager.
3.5 0,5 l Flasche. Dunkelbraunes Bier, cremefarbener, cremiger Schaum.
4.0 The medieval bottle seems to hide a genuinely good beer. Very well rounded and drinkable. My wife doesn't like dark beers but somehow loves this one.
3.8 Bottle, 0.5l. Clear deep ruby pour, one finger frothy beige head. Pretty good retention, nice and thick lacing on the glass. Nose is malts and grains, roasty, slight cocoa. Herbal. Medium body, soft carbonation. Surprisingly full mouthfeel, smooth texture. Mildly roasty bittersweet taste. Aroma of malts, roasted and caramel, grains, licorice. Cocoa hints in the background. Grassy. Slightly charred. Regular finish, mildly bitter and somewhat dry. Overall, pretty fine brew. Tasty and refreshing, great dunkel.
3.0 330ml bottle. Pours translucent red black. Toast, cola, peach, cream. Medium body. Fine.
3.7 This is a lovely beer, smells like ryebread and fresh grains, tastes not too sweet and bitter enough
3.6 Off a market shelf in Graz, Austria. Dry and restrained, the aroma hits the nose nicely, and it's got the looks, and delivers the taste too. Must rank among the best of this particular style.
3.5 Tap. Clear brown color with ruby highlight and creamy beige head. Aroma is milk chocolate, cocoa, earthy, a touch bubblegum. Taste is milk chocolate, strawberries with cream, cocoa, sweet. Silky mouthfeel with high, but soft carbonation. Good, despite the sweetness!
3.5 Bottle in Seattle. Soft offwhite foam, clearish milk chocolate appearance. Malty cereal and oatmeal aroma. Pretty full body, chocolate and rye bread. Full and a bit creamy. Nice example of the style.
2.8 Hvala Klement i ekipi na gastro craft festivalu na ovoj pivi.. toceno pivo ..dobro i pitko pivo..dosta tamna boja...okus zanimljiv..ok pivo ..
3.6 Tap at Hirter Braukeller in Hirt-Austria. Cola color with an ivory medium-low foam. Nose: caramel and cocoa powder. Mouth starts clean and leads to a bitterness perhaps given by dark malts.
2.9 Schwarze Farbe.
Buona birra dissetante
3.4 Appearance: Dark/black, with small but stable creamy head. Aroma: Roasted malt, grains, chocolate/caramel. Palate: Light body, gentle carbonation. Taste: Roasted malt, bread, hint of caramel; Gentle sweetness and light bitter aftertaste. Overall impression: Pleasant and tasty, light, very drinkable.
3.4 0.5l bottle. Malty aroma, roasted malts, caramel, light coffee notes. Dark brown color, ivory head. Malty taste, coffee, roasted malts, caramel, light sweet, light to medium bitter. Light body, slick texture, soft carbonation and bitter-sweet finish. Good.
2.6 Mahagoni with medium beige head. Aroma is intense phneolic apples, bubblegum, some sweet malt stuff. Taste is sour citric juice with slight sweet malt. Quite heavy but very sparkly. Meh.
3.3 On tap. Pours a dark cola color, with a good head ad ample lacing. Aroma of caramel, bit of roasted malt and nut. taste of roasted malt, caramel, with trace of coffee. Fairly mild bitterness and a fairly dry finish. Moderate body, quite smooth with a subtle malt character. Nice beer.
3.0 500 ml bottle. Pours a clear chestnut brown with a beige head. Aroma of sweet malts along with ash and some sour notes. Medium body with medium carbonation. Medium sweetness with a light bitterness towards the finish. Flavor of overripe apples and pears, cardboard, wood.
3.4 Pours a dark red amber with a big, frothy beige head. Aroma of sweet toffee, roasted grains, grapes and raisins. Taste is rather sweet with only a hint of bitterness. Light, slick body with very soft carbonation. Pleasant, but very sweet.
3.0 Bot, finally a chance to taste the notorious hirter dunkle. 11 oz bottle, how come those euroguys always try to rip us yankies off for an ounce? In my little sniffer this has a very mild malt nose. Nice and dark, looks like a dark american lager. Personality is a little more than a typical mild dark lager, has a tad of that baltic thang goin on here. After I get over the initial baltiness of it all it then settles down to stripped shucked attitude about it. In the background, I may detect a hair of smoke, but now I think I just imagined it. AH! I think I taste the soft mountain spring water used in the brewing which has been left to mature in a none GMO prolonged aging process, go figger. I’m liking these mild darker beers, so much more enjoyable than a stupid baltic, foreign imp stout porter, heheheh.
