Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale

Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale

Anbai literally means “Salty Plum” and the word is also used to describe the stat of taste and flavor. Ii Anbai means “just right”!

Hitachino Nest Anbai Ale is brewed based on the high alcohol version (7%) of the siganture beer Hitachino Nest White Ale, infused with locally grown green sour plum (ume), and finished up with a pinch of Japanese sea salt (moshio). The balance of sourness, bitterness, comes from the plum and subtle saltiness, great umami taste of the sea salt is “Ii Anbai - just right!”

3.5 Sour. ressemble à une gueuze avec un goût de thé. assez spécial. nez et goût floral. bonne longueur. sympa en general
5.0 Ce goût de prune mûre ! Incroyable, je suis à propos de cette umamie
3.4 Bottle from Asahiya. Unusual aromas -- yeast, fruit skins, apple peeling, dark plums, and a dusty years-long unopened room. Clear dark amber color, with a 2-m. off-white head, and sticky lace. Salty, sour plums. Puckering and strong. The salt is a bit much. Mild maltiness. The fruit really defines itself in mid palate. This is supposedly a 7% version of their White Ale, with the added fruit and salt. The brewery calls it a "sour gose." Unusual and certainly worth trying once.
3.4 Veiled blonde with a short and evanescent foam. Sour and fruity aromas, malt, white fruits, sea note. Taste is sweeter than advertised, undefined fruity with iodine, seaweed, spices, sourness with a low bitter. A beer with a wild air, more in aromas with a salty finish.
3.3 Small yellowish head, fading, fed by fine carbonation in initially clear orange-golden beer, with a load of small UFO's at the end. Caramel and oxidation (1 1/2 months after BBdate). Something mineral and fruit syrup, bit artificial, as fruitester added to a beauty product. Sweet, sourish lining with a mineral (rather than salty) ending. Again caramel but much more subdued, not overly sweet. There is again a strange perfumey flavour, no doubt due to the plums, not very imposing but rather painting a background. Fruitslick, not very carbonated. Medium bodied at least. Decent, the more as the oxidation didn't return in the nose.
3.2 Slightly unclear golden body with a small white head. Aroma is slightly acidic citric fruit, oranges and plum. Flavor is sweet and sour with pale malt, sour fruit and minerals. Quite much zesty bitterness, feels actually a bit like lemon peel. Medium body and aftertaste that becomes more fruity and bitter, a bit like bitter plum marmelade with lemmon peel. An unusually beer and sure interesting, but I don’t think I will buy again.
3.8 Keg at the hanging bat... Amber thin white lacing.. Soft yeasty fruit nose... Soft sweet plums.. Juicy fruits
3.4 0,33l bottle. Pours hazy golden with small head. Plums, fruitiness. Sourness on the milder side and sweetness. Not bad at all.
3.1 Bottle at SBWF 2019. Hazy dark golden with a small head. A bit tart with citrus, some spices and bread. The body was light.
3.1 On tap. Pours a hazy yellow with a white head that dissipates to the edges slowly. Aroma has wheat and earthy plum with flora and a bit of coriander. Flavor has lots of wheat with slightly tart earthy plum and a bit of flora backing.
4.0 Bottle from Central Market in Austin, TX. Aroma is hay, light dark stone fruit, fruity grains. Taste is straightforward fruit beer but more like a solid beer base with additional fruit accoutrement. One of my favorite Hitachino beers so far.
3.6 lett hazy, gyllen, plomme, salt, lett surhet, frisk med noe fylde...........
3.1 0,33l bottle from Alko. Hazy golden beer with small head. Aroma has sweet malts and fruits. Flavor is weird. It has both very very sweet malts and fruits but also salty, bit sour feeling. However, tartness could be more strong. Medium body, a bit too sweet and "orange" beer. Fruityness is more like candied version, not real fruits.
3.8 From a bottle, fairly cloudy in glass. Thin white head that disappears quickly. Slight, refreshing, tartness on the taste, some saltiness towards the end
3.4 Tap at Zen Box ($10). Aroma is weaker. Taste is mellow but brings out the plum and some earthy and sour notes. Very drinkable and the higher ABV is hardly discernible.
3.1 330 ml bottle. 18/09. BB 03/2020. (Alko) Tampere, Finland. Hazy orange color with a tiny white head. Fruity and yeasty aroma. The flavor is malty, yeasty and slightly fruity. Some leathery, basementy and bitter notes.
2.9 19/XI/18 - on tap @ Horeca Expo Gent, BB: n/a - (2018-1703) Clear orange beer, small creamy off-white head, stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweetish, spicy, fruity, some banana, bit leathery, horse blanket, funky touch. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet and sugary start, pink bubble gum, weird acidity, some strawberries, infected, unpleasant. Aftertaste: acidic, lemon juice, candy flavourings, cola flavoured candy, acidic, weird.
Textura sedosa. Carbonatación baja.
2.8 Bottle from Hopt. Candied fruit aroma with sweet plum, apricot, notes of candied grapefruit and spicy yuzu. Fairly sweet flavour with a light tartness and a little salt. Body is medium. Very fruity but of the sweet candied variety, lacks tartness.
3.5 Smart gose and a strong one at that. Tangy, sweet rocks, fruit tingles. Bitter and slightly heavy fruits to finish. Weighty but carries well.
3.4 Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma has notes of plums, citrus fruits, hops, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of plums, citrus fruits, hops, and malt, leading to a dry finish.
3.7 Bottle at a tasting, beers courtesy of Dusan & Simona. Slightly salty, goseish, very light plum, slightly sourish funky element. Easy drinking, tasty. Good one.
2.9 Bottle kindly donated by Gurthnar. Golden color with medium white head. Aroma of some fruits, malt. Taste, sweet fruits, malt.
2.7 Bottle shared by Gurthnar, many thanks. Pours golden color, white head. Aroma of honey, cherries, red currant. Taste is medium sweet, lightly sourish, cherries, honey, malty.
3.6 Tap at CBF Vienna 11/18, thanks M+G! Plums, mineralic, toasty. Lightly sweet, hint of saltiness, round. Light body with pearly carbonation.
3.8 Bottle from Helsinki (damn, it's sold in Tallinn too). BB 08.2019. Now that is an interesting aroma. Soft yellow pickled plums, and apricots... yet at times kinda raw. Refreshing, fine carbonation, dangerously easy-drinking - doesn't feel like 7.5% at all, would maybe estimate around 6. I wouldn't exactly say it's sour. Has an interestingly savoury layer. Softish on the palate, slight dry stickiness in the finish. Not sure if I'd get any salt without knowing the "pinch" being there. A good and interesting brew. Would recommend and buy again.
3.4 33cl bottle from Uba ja Humal, Tallinn. Pours almost clear deep golden with a rather modest, dissipating, white head. Fruity, salty and slighty wheaty with lightly malty and herbal notes. Unusual combination that almost reminds me more of tkemali sauce than beer. Anyway rather tasty and interesting one.
3.6 Bottled at Stockholm Beer Festival. Hazy deep golden, small head. Tart nose with some lemon and spice. Dry with light body and crisp, rounded mouthfeel. Freshening and unusual. Slightly salty finish.
3.1 Sample @ sbwf 2018.Poured light amber color. Raw fruity, berryish aroma.Cloudberry like. Some raw berries. Tart finish.
