3.4 Hazy amber, medium white head, some spotty lacing. Aroma is floral, citrus, spices, Belgian yeast. Taste gets more complex, with orange peel, coriander, cinnamon, spices, vanilla, herbs and booze. Bitter finish, medium body, soft carbonation. Quite rich ale, not my style but I must say it’s quite tasty. P.S. funny fact, a "Commemorative Ale" for my rating n.900. Happy days!

3.9 Commemorative Ale 2017 (b 330 ml, 8% abv) Pours a white foamy head which lingers in the glass with good lacing. Herbs and spices on the nose (coriander, parsley?). Nuttiness, cinnamon, toffee and a bit of a herbacious kick.
3.5 33 cl bottle @ home (bbe 05-2017) as Commemorative Ale (8%). Deep dark red to brown color, hazy. Dense off white head with a little retention. Aroma’s: sweet, caramel, soft fruit, light spices. Retronasal it’s caramel, sweet, light spices. Flavor is moderate to full sweet. Alcohol is warming, but not sharp. Body is rather full. Finish with just a hint of bitterness. Quite nice.
3.9 Medium Clear amber with a frothy, lasting, off-white head. Smells of toasted malt, caramel, yeast and bubble gum, with some, nutmeg, acidic and citrus. Super sweet taste of caramel on a bitter peppery middle and a candy, sweet finish. Medium body with soft carbonation.
3.8 Bottle rated back in Feb, adding now. Has that familiar Kiuchi wheat and spice flavour, mixed with some sweetned malt, fruit, charred brown sugar. Very bready, almost like gingerbread with the nutmeg note. Carries alcohol warmth, lively carbonation. A lovely winter-time sipper.
3.5 Sold as Commemorative Ale 2016 from The Beer Tree in Amsterdam. ABV is 8.0%. Clear light brown, like a scotch. Sour aroma. Taste has nutmeg, cinnamon, and a sour foundation.
3.3 Copper color with off-white head. Spicy aroma. Taste is sweet, vegetables and a little nutmeg-like.
3.0 Orange red amber little to no head; aroma is malty some fruit sweetness; flava is malt some molasses and tangy fruit(sour cherry); feel medium moderate fizz; finsihes malty roasty dry
3.3 Aroma - has some alcohol and spice - more muted than I would have suspected. Appearance - body is honey amber colored. The head starts at 1 1/2 and slightly off-white, the head fades to a small bit of foam. Taste - moderately sweet, with a little Christmas associated spice - allspice, nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon. There is a bit of a Grand Marnier orange and some bits of honeyed malt. Palate - body is medium, texture somewhat oil and slick, carbonation is average almost soft. The finish has a spicy bit of bitterness and a twinge of alcohol.
1.9 I’m glad I tried it, in the company of 12 other beer nuts. Aroma of vegemite, taste of vegemite, with a hint of cheese and bread and a dash of soy sauce.
3.6 Bottle at home. Spicy with hints of coriander, ginger and some citrus. Refreshing. Medium body. Very drinkable.
4.4 Cor alaranjada, brilhante. Espuma boa e de média persistência. Aroma floral e cítrico. No paladar semente de coentro, casca de laranja e condimentos. Bem equilibrada. Retrogosto de amargor leve e alcoólico. Excelente.
3.3 Pours a clear golden orange with a foamy head that fades to nothing. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, honey, and slight spice aromas. Taste is much the same with honey and spice flavors on the finish, not getting the vanilla anywhere. Overall, this is an ok beer, not much going on.
3.6 Magnum, 2009 vintage, 07/3/2015. Pours light mahogany color, dark amber highlights, big off-white head fades to a layer of fizz on the surface, Aroma is musty caramel, fruity orange, floral notes, earthy nutmeg, cocoa powder, with touch of sweet vanilla. Taste is dark wheat bread, spiced, medium sweet malts, nutmeg again prominent, giving bitterness, cinnamon adding some heat, vanilla accents. Medium full body, high carbonation. Decent, tasty spiced ale.
3.2 330 ml bottle. (Commemorative Ale, 8% ABV) Pours a hazy orange with an average, frothy, long lasting, off-white head that laces. Sweet, spicy aroma of nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, yeast, orange and malt. Sweet, creamy orange flavour with subtle, spicy notes of coriander, nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla, yeast, alcohol and a dry, bitter, hoppy finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Quite unique.
4.2 330ml bottle at Beer Station, Xiamen as Commemorative Ale labelled as 8.0%. Pours orange amber with a thin white head. Aroma of spice nutmeg clove and orange peel. Full bodied mouthfeel. Sweet finish. Not always a fan of these type of spiced beers but this is great.
2.8 Malt dominates the aroma with hints of vanilla. Appearance is a cloudy Amber with a small off white head. Flavor is oxidized and muddled. Malt flavor dominates and the spices are mostly hidden. Notes of toast and caramel are present with a hint of coriander. Mouthfeel is medium with medium carbonation. Overall, it's oxidized which dramatically affected the flavor of the beer.
Geschmacklich sehr intensiv, alkoholisch, im Abgang leicht Zimt. Respekt, Japan kann Bier brauen.
3.4 2009 Commemorative Bottle. Pours a cloudy orange with small frothy white head. The aroma is rose petals, strong floral, spice. Medium mouth with sweet fruit, light spice, very good.
4.2 On tap at Popeye served in a snifter. Beautiful rusty caramel color with a modest head. Fig, vanilla and muscat aromas present on arrival. Sweet malty taste with well balanced hops and spiced finish. Goes down smooth. Great winter beer.
3.7 Bottle at brass monkey. Pours copper, nose is caramel, vanilla, fruity, spiced, taste is similar.
3.6 I see a hazy honey coloured brew that brings almost a 2 finger head of foam. Lacing is you betchya! The nose is pretty festive. I get some nutmeg(a fav of mine in winter brews), coriander, some grape like fruitiness, all on the malty and fruity side and nay to any bitter notes. Nutmeg and a sweetish malt flavour that reminds me of the lovely oxidation you get in a UK barleywine or old ale is first up for me. I do get some coriander and some other spiciness that doesn’t strike me so hot. Now there’s a strange bitterness that creeps in in the finish. It really started off great but... Medium body, lightish carbonation. Bottom line, it’s strong and pretty good overall. I had higher hopes based on my first sips.
3.4 Draft. Clear amber color, medium white head. Aroma of orange peel and light spice. Taste has fruit, raw bread, citrus. Decent.
3.4 Bottle labeled at "Commemorative Ale" poured into a shaker glass. Pours a dark amber but by the time the carbonation settles it’s a very impressive dark orange. Has an aroma and taste of ginger, nutmeg and pumpkin. The alcohol is sort of noticeable. Full bodied.
3.7 Nice fruit, with prominent nutmeg and other spices. Good balance, and finishes with light sweetness. Tap.
3.5 Aroma: Bready, Cinnamon, Mild Plums, Mild Orange Appearance: Amber Hue, Passes Some Light, White Head Ring, Decent Lacing Taste: Bready, Oranges, Plums Mouthfeel: Average Carbonation, Medium Bodied, Mildly Drying
