Hitachino Nest Saison du Japon

Hitachino Nest Saison du Japon

Saison du Japon is brewed with a local wheat and koji (malted rice) which is a vital ingredient to create Sake. This beer has a uniquely sweet flavor of rice koji and a natural acidity caused by the fermentation.

Ingredients: Water, barley malt (Lager, Munich), wheat malt, rice koji, Yuzu juice, hops (Perle, Kent Golding, Pacifica, Hallertau), Ale yeast.

3.2 Amber and hazy with a thin head. Sour smell of berries. Refreshing with a predominant bitter taste and an aftertaste like having drunk white wine. Rice taste at the end of the sip. Medium carbonation.
3.4 Bottle from a friend. Pours cloudy amber with a little white head. The aroma citrusy fruitiness, grainy maltiness and a touch of yeast. Taste is light to medium sweet with both malts and yeast featuring; grain, citrus fruits, spices. The palate is light to medium bodied, average carbonation. Nice saison.

3.8 Aromas of lemon, herb, citrus, nougat, vanilla, coriander, wheat, parsley, cilantro and caramel. Pours bright gold with an assertive white foam. Taste is a mouthful of coriander, wheat, bright grain malt, hay, barnyard funk, fruity yeast, vanilla, oats, lemon zest, crackers, Japanese yeast and dry bread. 3.1 Flaska @ Nami, Varberg. Dimmig orange med ett vitt beständigt skum. Dofter av citron, apelsin, söt malt och jäst. Samma återkommer i smaken tillsammans med gräs och en örtighet. Söt och gräsig avslutning.
3.2 Pretty good although I would consider a little on the 'easy drinking' side. Spice, cooked fruits and rhubarb is quite front loaded and maybe just a little sweet for the style. Otherwise well built and nice balance.
3.4 Bottle 330ml at home. From Alko web shop. BBE 05.2020. Cloudy golden beer with white head. Sweet malts, wheat, orange, grass, spices. Medium body, oily texture, sweet spicy finish.
4.4 0.33 l bottle from Alko Arkadia, Helsinki. Using the sake yeast for making saison seems to be a good idea. Works very well, unlike Ratebeer user interface which is absolutely bollocks.
3.3 A golden beer, a head is medium and white. Aroma has fruitness, spicyness and some unspecified weird and sweet nuancee, hint of banana. Taste has fruitness, spicyness, sweetness of banana, citrus. Medium bodied. Quite unique, wit-nuanced, good beer, but could be more refreshning.
3.6 Keg at Hitcahino Brewing Lab, Tokyo . Nice malty caramel aroma. light golden. very nice Belgian flavours. smooth as a pert titty.
3.4 good foam head Dark golden brown hazy body Aroma of citrus and sweetness Taste Slightly sour with some bitterness and sweetness to balance things out
3.1 5%ABV. Saison. Tapped out deep gold. Cloudy. 8°SRM. Nose has aromas of clove, hint of pepper, coriander. Mouthfeel is light. Carbonated. Palate has flavors of coriander, white pepper, cilantro, dill. Other spicy flavors are curaçao and citrus-based spices like bergamot. Malts are wheat flour, raw dough. There is a sour fruity rounded body in this one. Hop flavors are barely there. Hard to tell if it’s the woody spice of hops or spicy fermentation products. Finish is sweet spicy with a hint of perfumy bitter. Overall, a pretty full-bodied rendition of a classic style without gimmicks or witty hooks. Just pretty good.
3.0 Bottle from Hoults Wine Merchants, Huddersfield. Golden with a head. Has a bit of a fizz about it, but nothing too detrimental. There's some fruitiness in its nose, some in taste, slightly soured.
3.8 Bottle. Dark golden color, half hazy, lasting head. Simple citrusy aroma falls short of the rest. Taste is surprisingly interesting, very sour. Yuzu is great, it is almost like a Gose. Mouthfeel perfect for me, medium-heavy body, medium carbonation. Overally very nice and interesting.
3.4 On tap in KL, taps beer bar. Orange body. Sweet, bready, a little thin. Not bad.
3.7 麥芽香 柚子輕果香 爽口汽泡 好喝 18/07/09@啤啤
3.3 Bottle: Poured a light hazy golden with a huge creamy head. Aroma lemon grass, light funk. Taste is lemony, coriander, wheat, grain, aloe, and tangy finish.
3.6 Saison du Japon pours hazy dark amber with an off-white head with some lacing. The nose is quite malty with caramel notes, accentuated by nice fruity notes of citrus, of which the yuzu juice comes through quite a bit, orange marmalade, and spicy notes from the yeast. The front is quite richly malty with notes of caramel, biscuit, and molasses. The mid-palate undergoes a transition from peppery Belgian yeast notes through yuzu, marmalade, and lemon with a floral touch from the hops to a lightly bitter and acidic finish with lingering fruitiness. The mouthfeel is very Belgian with its foamy and creamy character. The addition of yuzu juice shifts this brew's style a little towards fruit beer from its saison root, and if you believe that adding fruit juices have a place in brewing beer, go for this one.
3.4 Tap. Pours slightly hazy amber. Aroma and flavor are Belgian yeast esters, pale malt, faint caramel malt, Candi sugar, and some dried fruit. Medium body.
3.6 Draft at Hitachino SF. Pours hazy gold with a frothy off white head. Tastes like doughy malt, corn, faint herb, and light fruit. Light body and medium carbonation. Smells like dough and sweet fruit.
2.6 Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom's place. Thanks Yoav. Hazy golden-orange with white head. The aroma has notes of spices, yeasts, coriander, herbs and citrus. Bitter and alcoholic flavor with notes of spices, yeasts, herbs, some fruitiness, kumquat and citrus peels. Medium-bodied.
3.6 Gushing white frothy head stayed on a hazy, highly effervescent dark golden body. Funky, earth, spicy & dull citrus aroma. Medium to thin bodied, soft on the palate, minimal carbonation & a dry aft. Taste is similar to the aroma with funk, outdoors, zesty citrus, spice & a peppery finish.
2.8 Bottle sample at a tasting, thanks Yoav. Hazy orange. Smell of spice, coriander, yeast, citrus, phenols. Sweet, esters, spicy, citric, sake, light bitterness and tartness. Medium-bodied, feels more like a Witbier, but not very good one.
2.2 Bottle sample at a tasting at Tom L's place. Thanks Yoav. Hazy deep golden, white head. Oxidation, candy, yuzu, spiciness, cardboard, sake, rice, sweet, medium-bodied. Not my thing.
