2.9 330ml bottle from RusBeerShop. Pours dark brown with a small beige head. Aroma is coffee and milk chocolate. Taste is sweet followed by light bitterness, coffee, roasted malt.
2.9 12 oz bottle. Sweet aromas of milk chocolate and toasted notes. Pours a very dark brown with very little brown head. Lives up to its name in sweetness, almost a desert beer. Not very complicated but pleasant enough. Fizzy moutfeel for a stout and almost no bite to balance the sweet. I expected better from Hitachino.
3.3 Barwa ciemnobrunatna, prawie czarna, nieprzenikniona. Warka: 02.2017
3.2 Pours a deep brown with a thin khaki head that doesn’t last long at all. The aroma is roasted and has a blend of chocolate, coffee, and licorice, with some lighter caramel. The taste is dry and quite bitter. Even though this is advertised as a sweet stout, I don’t think this is very sweet at all. Instead, its kind of sour. I find that the licorice is the main theme with this one, though a healthy chocolate flavor does rival that. Long and heavy licorice finish. Light in body, thin in texture, and average in carbonation. Not the best stout, but it is different and worth a try.
1.4 tastes like metallic dishwater, maybe a bad batch since based on the description sounded delicious.
3.7 Bottle. Pours a almost black color with a small beige head. A light sweet nose. Sweet cocoa, cola, caramel, very big flavor. Surprised that this is 4%.
2.9 Bottle. Milk chocolate and coffee aroma. Pours very dark brown with a light brown head. Sweet malt and coffee flavour. Thin to medium body. More sweetness in the finish.
3.1 33cl Bottle @ LaBIRRAtorium, Madrid, Spain. Black colour with tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, milk chocolate, caramel, berries. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, sweet, toffee, slightly sour. Light to medium body, medium to low carbonation.
3.4 Bottle 0,33. Pours almost black with medium off-white head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, dark chocolate, caramel. Taste is coffee, chocolate, caramel, lactose, medium sweet. Medium body and flat carbonation.
3.3 Was excited to try another offering from Hitachino at the Columbia World Beer Festival 2017, although was a bit disappointed in this sweet stout, which was overall just a lighter, sweet, roasted malty brew. Poured a murky brown color, with an aroma of sweet, lightly roasted chocolate malt. Flavor is a little bit of milk chocolate, light coffee bean, just a mild-intensity rendition of the style. Light bodied with a neutral finish. Nothing impressive about it, but still a good easy-going stout that appears intentionally to have a more modest objective, and succeeds in reaching that goal.
3.5 On tap at Ebenezer’s Pub in Maine USA. Pour Pitch black with a nice tall tan foam that last. Aroma is from the roasted malt, sugar notes and a touch of lactose. Taste is all of the above plus some coffee. Medium body and carbonation. Sweet but just enough. Nice sweet and lactic finish.
Barwa ciemnobrunatna.
3.0 Bottle. Brown-bronze color. Aroma: caramel, sweet, sugary. Taste: caramel, sweet, slightly acidic, metal, caramel, dried fruit.
3.6 Bottle at Hokkaido Ramen Santouka. Smells of sweet chocolate and coffee, candy sugar. Very sweet stout. Pitch black with no head (perhaps because it was served very cold).
4.0 Poured from a 330 ML bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a very dark brown with a small tan head. The aroma is all malt. The taste is roasted malt, some coffee and chocolate and has that thick milk stout feel with a slight acidic aftertaste.
2.8 aromat całkiem przyjemny, słodki, kawa z mlekiem. w smaku trochę wodniste, leciutko palone, sos sojowy. Najfajniejszy w nim jest pozostający smak na języku

3.1 On tap at the Lower Right, Tokyo. Pours dark brown with medium beige head. Malty, milk chocolate, cocoa, bit roasted, sweet. Short finish, and light even a bit watery. Not bad, but too light for me.
3.6 33 cl bottle @ home, a bit past the best before date. Black color. Beige head with little retention. Aroma’s of sweet chocolate, light roast, some berries. More roasty retronasal, mocha, red fruit. Flavor is light sweet, coffee-ish, roasty. Light bodied (almost thin). Short finish, light roasty. Quite nice actually.
3.0 Pours a burnt cola with a restrained head. The initial caramel aroma is so strong it almost morphs into cheese, underlain by charcoal - changing later into brown sugar and mocha. On tasting there is an upfront dark bitterness, which surprisingly carries through on the watery palate. Coffee with an aftertaste of bananas. Interesting but maybe hampered by the low ABV.
3.1 On tap at Hitachino Brewing Lab, Tokyo. Close to black with a modest, but lasting beige head. Aroma of roasted malt with some milky notes, dark chocolate and dark fruits. Medium sweet with a medium flavour intensity and a slightly dry and lightly bitter finish. Mild and easy to drink, not to exciting, but certainly decent.
3.1 355ml bottle served in an ordinary glass. Pours a deep black color forming a medium dark beige head with good retention that forms some chunks in the glass. Nose is sweet. Strong notes of chocolate. Roasted malts, coffee beand and caramel. Light notes of wheat and earth. Grassy hops profile. Slightly sweet upfront. Sweet in overall. Strong notes of roasted malts and dark chocolate. Notes of milk, earth, vanilla and coffee beans. Medium to low bitterness. Some grassy hops notes in the end. Light but creamy body. Medium carbonation. Dark chocolate notes in the aftertaste. Medium drinkability. Not bad
2.5 Dark brown with a thin, mocha head. Aroma is lactose. Feels like a cola. Taste is sour milk. Not sure these will ever be my thing.
3.4 330 ml bottle, from Matkroken Stokka. BB date 01.2014. Black colour, large to moderate tan head. Aroma of lactose and moderately roasted malts, hints of chocolate. Smooth mouthfeel. The flavour is nice and smooth, with mild roasty notes, some lactose (but not too sweet), hints of mild coffee and chocolate. Pleasant and easy to drink. Might well buy again.
3.0 Black color with beige head. Aroma of caramel and a little cola-like. Taste is caramel, toffee, cheese and whey.
2.7 Blind tasted. Black, slightly colaish color, creamy light brown head, bit lacing. Very mild aroma, semisweet malt mildly roasted, bit licorice, suryp, bit dark bread. Semidry, light to medium body, low carbonation, watery feel, short finish. Diluted and watery.
2.5 Aroma - faint powdered chocolate and evaporated milk Appearance - body is bistre brown. The head about 1" and beige, settles slowly. Taste - light chocolate, slight roast, and a touch of barley. Palate - body is under medium, the texture slightly creamy, the carbonation soft, and the finish slight touch of roast.
3.2 Bottle at home in a goblet. Pours a dark black with ample tan head. Some mild lace. Aroma is milk chocolate and cocoa nibs, roasted malts, Whoppers, nuget. Taste is quite sweet chocolate, nuget, roasted malts, some cloves, and caramel. Very sweet. Thick velvet mouth. Overall OK but not really my favorite style.
3.0 Bottle from Hasegawa. Pours a deep brown to black with a small latte colored ring around the edge. Roasted malt aromas abound with some fresh prune. Cola-like mouthfeel with some roasty bitterness on the palate. Sourness comes out as it warms along with some light creamer. Body is pretty thin and slightly watery though. Pretty average beer that doesn’t come together that well. Bitter and watery finish.
3.4 Dark black. Whoa. Sweet. Tastes like sweet chocolately goodness. Pretty good stout.
