2.9Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing. Body is dark brown to black. Aroma is moderately malty (roasted/burnt grain, cocoa powder), with light notes of leather and minerals. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively/fizzy carbonation.
I’d call this a Schwarzbier, personally. Not only based on the aromatic character and mouth experience, but also considering Hite is largely a lager brewery. Regardless, it’s a better beer than I expected; while simple, the aroma is not unpleasant, and quite roasty. Similarly, while it could use more bitterness, it’s easily quaffable and reasonably clean for a macro brew. UPDATE: on the Hite website, they do admit this is a lager. As I suspected, the word "stout" does not in this case indicate style, but rather just robustness.
Słabe to piwo.
Nie powinno nazywać się stout.
Skrobia kukurydziana w składzie, fuj!
2.7Bottle from Guodinglu supermarket in Shanghai. Pours light reddish brown -should probably be rated as a vienna or schwarzbier ( translating "stout" has its issues). Aroma is fragrant roasty and nutty. Flavor is simple and a bit light on the palate, some sweet notes, a bit sugary where it should be malty, but finishes with a drier note of roasted that can be appreciated on its own terms. Good, but can’t be held up to any kind of craft standard for obvious reasons.
2.0Butelka 330ml. Barwa ciemno rubinowa, przejrzysta. W aromacie pieczywo. Bardzo wodniste. Słabe.
2.9Pours black ruby colour with medium brownish head. Strong aroma of dark bread, coal. Medium bitter, medium sweet, no sourness. Light body, average carbonization, medium lasting burned bitter aftertaste
0.6Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Dramat.
1.8(Bottle)Aroma:roasted malt, dark bread, milk chocolate, nuts, dark chocolate.Appearance:dark brown color, small off white head.Taste:medium-sweet,flavour of roasted malt, caramel, coca cola, strange artificial toffee finish.Palate:light body, medium carbonation, wateryOverall:Meeh ,poor attempt, way to watery.
2.5Can at the Singapore Airlines Silverkris Lounge at HKG Airport. Almost black with a small head. Thin with some light roasted notes, caramel and hints of fruit. Nothing to write home about.
2.4From bottle it’s clear dark brown with a short off-white head. Simple malt aromatics manifest as dark caramel simple, cookie batter, charred grain, with touches of butter (diacetyl) and some metallic quality that seems phenolic. In the mouth it’s light bodied, watery and fizzy, thin and limp with minimal hop expression.
2.8Nie jest to stout, raczej schwarzbier, i w tej kategori jet nieźle. Chlebowy, palone słody, słonecznik, wysycenie średnie, gładkie w odczuciu i o dziwo nie jest słodkie, zaznaczona goryczka
2.6Butelka. Aromat piwnica, ciemne słody. W smaku pijalne, wodniste, minimalne kwaśne. Nic specjalnego.
2.3Zapach mało intensywny, słód, chleb, karmel. Kolor ciemnobrunatny, klarowne. Piana beżowa, niska, drobno i średniopęcherzykowa, szybko znika. W smaku lekka słodycz, niska pełnia, słód, cola, lukrecja, karmel. Goryczka niska, wysycenie wysokie.
Wychyla pierwszy łyk i z obrzydzeniem mówi: "This is not coffee. This is brown water."
Piwo da się wypić bez większych skrzywień.
3.0Dark brown, medium head. Aroma of caramel, milk, coffe, roasted malt. Medium body, lagerish, sweet, caramel, some coffee. Not that bad dunkel.
2.5Bottle. Dark brown, clear with small and quickly disappearing beige head. Aromas of dark bread on light malty background. Similar notes in taste, neither sweet not bitter, maybe little bit sour finish, very light, water like, body.
2.1W aromacie ciemne pieczywo. Barwa ciemno brunatna, piana niska. W smaku puste, odrobina palonych i chlebowych posmaków poza tym wodniste, nieco kwaskowate.
2.5Barwa ciemnobrunatna, rubinowe refleksy. Piana jasna, dość szybko opada. W aromacie pustka, jedynie przypieczona skórka od chleba. W smaku wyraźny chlebowy aromat, lekka nuta palonych słodów. Trochę wodniste.
3.0Dåse.
2.235 cl can in Seoul. Dark brown color, clear, soapy beige head, fizzy.
Aroma of sweet burn malts, with charcoal and dust.
Sweetish taste with some metallic bitterness. Dusty finish.
Cheap stout, similar to a malzbier.
3.0This is a cheap stout, one of the cheapest options in a supermarket here in HK, with a 6 pack sold for HKD 34. But I have to say that its value is amazing,
It pours black with a nice white head. Aroma is a bit acidic, with strong roasted malts. Taste is roasted malts, some coffee and dark chocolate. Finish is bitter, medium-light body, excellent value for its price!
1.8Dark brown colour. No head. Sweetness, caramel malts in aroma. Slightly bitter and watery beginning. Slight bitterness also in the middle. Slighlt bitter and weird finish. There is no particular characteristics. Very watery beer. Bad.
2.9Dark. Light body. A rather clean malt profile with faint roasted notes. A bit of caramel malt and some cocoa. The can I had said Lager Type, which makes me think this is a schwarbier and not a stout. The flavor profile fits a schwarz, too. Decent option in a watery lager wasteland.
2.8Bottle from a strangely set up convenience store in Tainan, Taiwan.
Cool and into a snifter. Ruby cola in body and shimmers in the lights. head holds for a good minute; a tannish inch of foam. Rusty swarf, dusty cocoa, fresh wort, blood and dark wood on the nose. Super buttery, diacetyl fueled palate. Lagered? It tastes of raw cake mix. Yeasty, bready with a good base of chocolate malt. Light carbonation and medium light bodied. Very softly spoken, with an odd lingering perfume of strawberries and cherries. Weird but drinkable. Undemanding on all counts! (33cL Bottled 03/04/15, Puro [?], Hai’an road, Tainan, Taiwan)
0.9Can in HK as Black Beer Stout. Neutral sweetish beginning. Dry malty, no depth. Malty-watery, hints of sweetness, strange with no bitterness.
3.2Malty with a sweet molasses flavor. Bitter-sweet after flavor. Like a sweet Guinness. Drinkable but nothing special.
2.6500ml can at the Silverkrisflyer Lounge in Hong Kong - labelled Black Beer Stout. Almost black in colour with a thin beige head. Thin body, with aroma of malt and molasses. Roasted malt caramel flavour - close to a Guinness foreign draft. Not bad - drinkable.
2.7Butelka wypita w KoreiPłd w 2009r. Kolor cfiemno-brązowy z małą pianą. Zapach orzechowo-karmelowy. Smak lekko czekoladowy, słodkie piwo.
2.1Aroma of malt and molasses, pours a dark brown color with a lasting tan foamy head modest lacing. Sweet taste of molasses and malt full bodies with a sickly sweet malt after taste.
3.211.13 oz bottle. Aroma is earthy, chocolate, wet river rock, licorice, bready. Pours dark brown with a collapsing beige head that falls into a ring of big-bubbly foam. Taste is sweet, bready, licorice, slightly oxidized. Body is thin, watery. Not too bad, really.
2.3Half lager half stout, rather closer to the Dark lager. But the taste is not nasty. Liquid course and the balance is bad, but you can drink
