3.6 Brown with a frothy to creamy white head. Aroma of prunes, caramel, roasted grains. Taste is mildly bitter, turning sweeter at the end. Faint berry tartness at the finish. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. A decent one.
3.6 08.05.2020: 500 ml bottle at home, 7.2% ABV, bb. 14.11.2020, bought at Drinks of the World, Bern. Pours a clear dark copper with a light beige head. The aroma is malty with honey, dark fruits, raisins, sweet dried apples, dates and caramel. Medium to full body with a soft carbonation, a medium to medium-heavy sweetness and a light bitterness. The flavor is again full of sweetish malt and similar to the smell but with a very light hop presence in the back - honey, caramel, brown sugar, raisins, dried apples, toffee, light oxidative notes. Finishes with residual malt sweetness, some hops and hints of alcohol. Overall a very malty Doppelbock but never cloyingly sweet, well integrated alcohol and sufficient drinkability. 3.6 Темно-медный цвет. Хорошая пена. Вкус и аромат солодовые, нотки инжира. Тело плотное. Алкоголь не выпирает. Хороший двойной крепкий лагер.
3.3 Dark brown with good foam. Nose. Dark fruit dried fruits honey-caramel tones. Taste. Sweet, dried fruits, wine, burnt sugar. The aftertaste is light bitterness, and notes of dried fruits.
4.0 Muy buena cerveza Doppell Bock.
3.4 Enjoyed: Poured from a bottle into mug. Appearance: Deep copper/brownish colour, rich head which soon fades to smaller with nice lacing. Aroma: Roasted malt, caramel, gently fruits. Palate: Medium body; gentle carbonation. Taste: Roasted malt, caramel, gently fruits and alcohol; Warm bittersweet aftertaste. Overall impression: Tasty and aromatic, quite drinkable considering ABV.
2.4 Scent and taste of burnt sugar and malt. Good bitterness that fills the upper part of the mouth for a good while. Okay beer. Follow me @ Kung av öl @ Facebook for more pictures and ratings.
4.0 0.5l bottle from Aldi. Chestnut brown body, hint of red. Yellow-brown head, quite big initially and fairly persistent for this alcohol. Nice aroma of caramel, nuts, hint of fruits. Dominantly sweet taste but complex and harmonic enough to enjoy each sip. Nuts, caramel dried, fruits. Mild carbonation with silky palate and a strange but very likeable mixture of alcohol warmth and light watery body. Sweet aftertaste with mild hint of burnt sugar.
3.6 Dark amber with a fine frothy head. Malty smell of caramel. Malty taste with wood notes. Low carbonation.
3.6 A good beer, malty clean and drinkable. Not the greatest in style, but a good beer overall. Lacking brightness and a lively quality. Graeff Hamburg (3.6 nov 2019) Agree with above
3.3 Bottle picked up from Bier Souvenir, Füssen Germany and another beer that is marked with their own label as Füssen Altfüssen, however as mentioned previously, to be fair to them they are not disguising the fact that it is brewed for them and the brewery details are all on the rear label. Had this at home, Attenkirchen Sunday 24th November 2019 listening to and cooking Salmon and Cream Cheese stuffed large Conchiglioni. Pours conker brown with good clarity, a slim light off white head. Caramel and malt dominant, soft mouthfeel, sweetness, dates amongst the dark fruit. Not bad at all.
3.5 0.5 l bottle from 'EDEKA Preller' (Breckerfeld), best before August 2020. Clear, ruby with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, beige head. Sweetish-malty slightly fruity aroma of caramel, raisins, plums and some molasses. G Fairly sweet, malty, slightly fruity taste of caramel, molasses, raisins, plums and traces of vanilla, followed by a short, slightly bitter finish. Medium to full body, smooth, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. A bit monotonous but also quite pleasant Doppelbock.
3.7 Helder rood bruin bier met een goede kraag. Ruikt zoetig. Smaakt zoetig, zacht karamel.
3.5 Bottle 0,50L. Clear amber color with big, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of dried dark fruits, caramel, roasted malts and nuts. Taste starts light sweet with noticable richness and full body. Finish is light to medium bitter, but stiĺl has a note of sweetness of dried fruits. Full body, oily texture, lively carbonation. Quite good bock.
4.0 Ruby brown with good foam. Sweet breads, plum, nuts, light toast and roasted notes to the aroma. Not too heavy, great balance of loaded malty doppelbock and hoppy bitterness. Semi sweet syruppy side but zero booziness. Really legit very drinkable doppelbock.
3.9 Very malty almost savory. Hints of fig and a little boy for the ABV.
3.7 Clear mahogany colour, moderate sized dense, not too stable beige head; aroma of dried plum and sour cherry, some dark chocolate, roasted nuts amd toasted rye bread notes; taste has the same notes with some burnt sugary and alcohol notes; good one
3.6 Bruin bier met voldoende koolzuur. Geur mout, kruiden, muffig. Smaak, mout, kruiden, karamel, licht fris. Vol wat zoet mondgevoel. Nasmaak mout, kruiden, fruit, bloesem. Niet heel uitgesproken, wel lekker.
3.6 Bottle, 0.5l. Deep clear ruby pour, two finger frothy beige head. Good retention, long lasting head. Lots of broken lacing on the glass as it goes down. Malty nose, caramel and toffee, herbal notes in the background. A bit on the sweet side. Medium body, soft to medium carbonation. Oily texture, chewy, smooth on the palate. Sweet taste with mild liquory bitterness to it. Heavily malty aroma, caramel and toffee, brown sugar, molasses. Herbal, nutty. Raisins. Wood notes. Subtle roasty. Sticky. Medium lasting finish, dry and liquory. Mild lingering burn on the tongue. Quite nice.
3.5 0,5 l bottle. A darkest clear red brown in the glass with an huge three finger pale beige foamy head. Looks really good. Malty smell with some sweetness. Taste is also intensive malty with sweetness in the background. Increasing pleasant alcoholic bitterness, but not overdosed. Really nice drinking fresh stuff, even in the summer.
3.4 De eerste slok is even wennen maar vervolgens toch een zeer acceptabele dubbel met een wat vlakke afdronk. 7,2%. In prachtige halve liter fles.
3.1 Re-rating (previous 3.0) Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 9A - dark). Bottle 50 cl - Batch D069 (BBF 09.03.21). AROMA: medium to medium-high maillard compounds (roasted bread crust). slight under-attenuated background character. APPEARANCE: dark amber colour and clear. medium creamy beige head with good retention. TASTE: low maillard notes (roasted bred crust) with a overly-sweet and somewhat underatenuated character. low bitterness. finishes sweet. PALATE: medium-high body. medium carbonation. OVERALL: a doppelbock with interesting aroma but with overly sweet flavour, rendering it a underatenuated character.
2.4 Pours amber brown colour with a medium tan crown. No lacing at all. Aroma is caramel, raisins and roasted grains. Taste is too sweet and cheap. Reminds somewhat of kvass, but kvass is much better.
4.1 Aroma: malty caramel with a hint of metallic hop App: red clear with a tan head and sheet lacing Flavour: prune, toffee and loads of malt Palate: clean malty finish
3.6 500ml bottle. Dark burgundy with a foamy beige head. Flavors are toasted/roasted cereals, molasses, caramel with fruity and nutty notes. Full body, moderate carbonation, syrupy texture.
3.6 2019/01/08 - Pours a clear amber brown colour with a thick, frothy tan head that slowly reduces and leaves no lacing. Aroma is sweet malts, caramel, bread, light banana and hints of dark fruits. Taste is sweet bready malts, light roast, yeast, banana, raisin and fig. Mouthfeel is medium with smooth carbonation and a moderately sweet and lightly roasted finish. Not bad at all.
2.9 Bottle. Pours clear brown. Aroma is infected vegetables, also sweet bock. Body is medium, sweet and chewy, lowish carbonation. Works, but don't smell it.
3.8 Pours a dark ruby red, with a huge off-white creamy head. Aroma has notes of rich toasty malts, grains, esters, and biscuits. Tasting notes include roasted malt, cane sugar, caramel, and finishes sweet. Decent beer!
3.7 500 ml bottle. Dark brown reddish, small head. Raisins, cognac, roasted malt, caramel, barrel notes, nuts. Some malty sweetness, light dry bitterness. Full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonated. Nice Doppelbock!
