3.5Brown with a fleeting, foamy head. Grains and nuts with gentle berry tones. Taste is very mildly bitter with light toasted noted. Medium body, balanced carbonation. Simple but quite pleasant.
3.1Een wat vlak donkerkleurig bier maar geen dubbel. Alcohol 5,2%. Van brauerei Höff uit Sonthausen, gekocht op vliegveld München. Niks bijzonders.

Clear red beer, small creamy irregular white head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: very malty, grains, cow fodder, rural, some cherries. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: malty, fruity, cherries, bitter touch, bit sweet, grassy, little metallic. Aftertaste: malty, cow fodder, some caramel, bit sweet, banana, little bitter.
3.5Bottle from Malt Traders on 6 April 2019. I found this to be a decent enough beer with a good copper colour and a big fluffy head. Strong malty aroma and the sweet maltiness carries through to the flavour.
2.7Optisch dunkles Kupfer, leichte Perlung, im Trunk vorwiegend Karamell, kurz bitter, dann süffig süß. Ziemlich straight forward, ohne viel Schnickschnack. Ordentlich, wenn auch nicht außergewöhnlich.
2.9As all other beers from Höss, also this beer is OK. The names of the german beers are sometimes confusing, especially when the region name is involved. Looking at type of beer and not a region, I would call this beer an Alt for beginners.
2.7Clear dark amber color, creamy white beige head of medium size, which quickly disappears. It has some earthy notes, nuts and notes of dried plums. Not so nicely bitter - sweet rye bread taste. Slightly cheap and unconvincing taste and overall impression.
3.1Bottle. Brown with a cm of off white head. Aroma of toffee, bread, chocolate, but stern enough floral and herbal hops to suggest it's not going to be that sweet. And it isn't but unhappily there's some cardboard. Can't see a date. Still, a decent balance of toasty/ caramel and spicy bitterness is most of the show. Would try in situ.

4.8OK first things first - brewed by Sonthofen (private brewery) Germany - so which is it - Austrian or German ? - fucK Knows. Any how, I have been drinking beer for a long long time. I am well versed (taste bud wise) in all
manner of craft beers & the new fad IPA wave that is gonna run its course.
I must say, I am truly blown away by the quality of this beer - it has it all, & in a subtle beautiful kind of way. I love its traditional Arian or Viennese pacKaging. The label invoKes, a beer liKe this is required after the day I've put in. Sweat & toil is rewarded when ye imbibe Holzar. It speaKs of an erudite brewing process. Does not contaminate the brain in moderate consumption. Each copious mouthful is cherished. A well balanced alcohol strength. An absolute rarity among-st the prolific droll drab shit we see on our off sales shelves -yours truly, Magpie ♎ Charm
3.4clear dark amber colour, medium sized creamy beige-ish white head, which disappears within a minute; aroma of ryre bread crust, some nuts and dried apricot notes; taste of rye bread, roasted nuts, caramel and hints of dried apricot; good one
3.0Bouteille 50 cl achetée via Bofrost. Bière cuivrée limpide et petite mousse. Nez assez discret sur le caramel et les fruits rouges. Bouche fraîche, douce, assez plate, malts, caramel, candi, prune. Assez agréable, sans plus.

2.0Clear dark amber, soapy head. Lots of cooked corn in the nose, some olive brine. The taste is husky and papery with a good deal of dms. Light bitterness, if anyone cares...
3.4.5 liter from my son in Rome. These beers were purchased by my son for the World Cup while in Rome. The beer poured a dark Amber color with a small head and no lacing. The malty aroma was esily noticed. Some wood and crystal malts as well. The beer has a medium body with average carbonation. Clean finish great to drink while picnicing on the Italian LakeTrasmeneo.
3.3Did not know what to expect. Light red transparent colour. Light red ale malts and quite sweet.
2.9Clear dark amber with a slight white head. Caramel, lemon iced tea, plum, forest honey, grass, light resin and spruce. Light bitterness, medium sweetness, light sourness. Medium body and carbonation, malty finish.
3.6Not quite like any other German beer I've had--they say on the label it's a traditional beer, as brewed by their forefathers ... a "bernsteinfarbenes traditionsbier"--traditional amber beer. It's a fairly dark-amber beer, with glints of cherry colour against the light. There's a lagerish smell to it, mixed with a chutney whiff. In the drinking, something of the Bavarian dark lager kicks in, though lighter in carbonation and softer in mouthfeel. I'm tasting some unusual notes here ... black treacle, maybe, toffee apple, syrup of prunes. I grew up near a jam factory, and some days a smell wafted across the river that has echoes in this beer, a stewed damson flavour, boiled plum. I also taste a touch of tart raspberry and roasted malts on the back end, in lieu of any hops bitterness. It's a nice drink, I must say.
