Pale, delicately fruity and refreshing. Hooky Gold is a beer which marries English tradition with American pizzazz. It is the first of our beers to use an American hop variety, Willamette, grown in Oregon, and having moderate bitterness with a spicy, noble hop aroma.

3.4 Bottle at home in London - sourced from Ocado. Pours clear gold with a frothy, pure white head. The aroma has crispy biscuits, light grass, melon, pine needles. Light sweet flavour with some pale grains, mild grassy bitterness, more biscuits, pale bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Pretty clean on the finish, with more grassy hops, lemon rind, hay, dry pale malts. Nice easygoing golde.
2.8 Bottle. Pale Gold in colour. Hoppy; grassy & spicy hops. Fruity; zesty, citrus, grapefruit and lemon. Malty; light caramel and biscuity malts. Bitter, fairly sharp, citrus fruity throughout. Dry bitter hoppy finish. OK. Drinkable, but not really to my taste. (2009-12)

3.4 Maker: Hook Norton Brewery, Hook Norton, England *** Beer: Hooky Gold (bottled, 500ml) *** Style: Golden Ale *** ALC.VOL.: 4.2% *** "Pale, delicately fruity and refreshing. Hooky Gold is a beer which marries English tradition with American pizzazz. It is the first of our beers to use an American hop variety, Willamette, grown in Oregon, and having moderate bitterness with a spicy, noble hop aroma." brewery notes] *** Colour: Deep yellow golden, with a small, fluffy white head. *** Nose: Barley, floral hops, hay. *** Texture: Medium body, not really watery. A little grainy. Moderate carbonation. *** Taste: Strong floral hops *and* biscuity malts at the start. Very moderately bitter. Bitterness increases toward the middle, as it should. But the wee-sweet malts are still in there, balancing the beer. Hoppy bitterness in the finish, still very floral. Lasting, but very moderately bitter aftertaste. *** Impressions: Superior golden ale with a heftier than usual malt background. Still, very hoppy, not too thin. Straightforward (some people seem to taste fruit in there - not really, no!), very quaffable. Another solid effort from Hook Norton.
2.9 Ambar, ligeramente turbia.

3.7 Bottle 500 ml at home, poured into a Guinness glass, ABV 4.1% Pours a deep golden yellow beer, with a tall head, thick and soapy, white in colour, with great retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, flowers, lemon zest. Taste is quite hoppy, with some caramel and malts in there, flowers, perfume, some citrus. Bitterness that builds up, hitting its highest point on the aftertaste. 2.6 "Handcrafted in the Cotswold Hills since 1849". You’d think they could’ve come up with something a bit better by now. Times change, tastes change, technology changes. Pours clear gold, very minimal white head. Aromas are buttery, some light floral hops. Taste has a little spice, but mostly water. Promised pizzazz plainly passed. Piffle.
2.9 500 ml bottle from a supermarket in Helsinki, 4.1% abv. Clear dark yellow colour, small frothy whit mostly dissipating head, decent lacing. Light malty aroma of bisquit, hay and dough, moderate fruity and floral hops. Taste is initially bittersweet turning into a fairly bitter longish finish with an astringent feel. Medium body, lively carbonation, dry texture. Not bad at all, a bit too much like lager, but still quite different and pleasant
