Hook Norton Old Hooky (Bottle)

Bottle: Filtered

A well balanced and full bodied beer demonstrating fruitiness, with the Crystal Malt content being distinctive. The hoppy mouth gives way to a sweeter finish.

3.6 Bottle from Beers of Europe. Appearance - amber with a red edge. Thin but attractive head. Nose - toffee and red fruit. Taste - strawberry and burnt toffee. Crunchy burnt bread. Palate - medium bodied, rich and creamy in texture. Dry crunchy finish. Overall - good.
3.1 Bottle shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear dark amber with a short-lived thin white head. Aromas of toffee and a light metallic note. Taste is light sweet, candied peel and toffee. Metallic finish.
3.0 Appearance: clear copper, no head Aroma: sweet malt, toffee with notes of roast malts Palate: low carbonation, smooth Taste: caramel, sweet followed by bitter after palate
3.3 9Feb2019 Sweet grain and cereal malts, caramel, biscuit, dark fruits. Slightly hazy brown, medium, creamy, off-white head. Light sweet. More bread, sweet grain malts, caramel, light biscuit, soft carbonation, medium bodied. Alright. Bottle from Ocado.
3.5 Nice amber color with a well balanced and smooth flavor. Would order again.
3.5 Nice rich winter warmer nutty caramel bordering on sweet bottle from ocado.
2.6 Bottle. Poured an amber color with an off white head. Toasty, some caramel, and maybe some very light fruitiness in the back - but meh.
3.2 Quite a decent ale but not exceptional, in my opinion. At first the sweetness is beautifully balanced with the bitterness. But then the bitterness takes over and dominates the later taste and aftertaste. And it is not an entirely likable bitterness, being a bit monolithic and oppressive, with no tang or citrus to it. So that dulls this beer for me. There is a bit of malty backbone, which I like--but the bitterness noises that out pretty quickly. Hoppy, yes, though on the grim side of hoppiness for me.
3.8 Grainy malty beginning. Dry, caramel. Nice Ale aromatic, bitter roasted with a nice dry bitter caramelly finish. Smooth with a fruity creamy caramelly finish.
3.0 Bottle in Oxford. MacDowall’s wedding. Soapy, thick head. Dark amber and copper, mostly thin. Quite fruity bitter. From bottle is a bit flat tasting. Bitter. Cherry and orange zest. Ok.
2.8 500mlFlasche. Kupferrotes Bier. Heller Schaum. Sehr schöne Optik. In der Nase nasses Holz, Kork, Malz. Wenig spektakulär. Sntrunk bitter.
3.3 Bottle at home in London - sourced via Ocado. Pours totally clear burnished gold with a creamy, mostly white head. The aroma holds lightly toasted pale bread, a little citrus peel, faint leafy hops. Light-medium sweet flavour with basic bready malts, hints of toasted sugars, vague orange, mellow leafy bitterness. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, with lightly toasted bread, low bitterness. It doesn’t set the world alight, but it drinks OK.
3.2 Bottle. Clear Orangey Gold in colour. Average foamy off-white head. Fruity; orange citrus. Hoppy; grassy and earthy hops. Malty; bready malts, caramel. Tastes a bit metallic. Moderately bitter citrus fruity and dry throughout. Easy drinking. (2015-09-26)
3.6 (Bottle) Pours clear amber brown with good beige head. Nice aroma - herbal / seaweed / tea and some caramel notes. Medium body, good carbonation. Foretaste is a nice mix of caramel and fruity notes. The fruity notes are steadily replaced by a nice hoppy bitterness. Nice beer.
2.9 A balanced beer, foremost is the herby giving way to a light malty flavour. Easy to drink.
3.6 500ml bottle. Pours clear amber with a one-finger off-white head. Aroma: malty, caramel, fruit. Taste: sweet fruity malt, caramel/toffee, citrus, some bitterness but the finish is actually sweet. Medium-full body, smooth mouthfeel, good carbonation.
3.6 Bottle. Bubbily little head, bronze. Strawberry and malts aroma. Fruity and malty with a nice dry finish. Not your typical English bitter, light and tasty. Super drinkable and something I could definitely session. Thanks for sharing @kapusil !
3.6 0.5l bottle. Hazy deep orange body, thin white head. Aroma of caramel, biscuit, orange zest and floral hops. Taste of biscuit, orange zest, yeast, caramel and floral hops. Nice English ale.
3.5 500ml bottle (Sip, Tallinn) Clear amber, tight head. Sweet milky black teabag tea aroma, a bit fruity. Sweet fruity taste, toffee-ish malts, some toastiness. Medium palate, a little bit smooth from sweetness, but pleasantly carbonated too. Milky black tea comes back in the finish, and a delicate resiny hoppiness - nice. Lovely malty English ale. So simple, but so delicious.
3.3 Pours clear copper with low white head. Aroma of citrus, light fruit, caramel. Taste is sweet, initially somewhat fruity, followed by a caramel sweet finish. Thick bodied and creamy with soft carbonation.
2.8 500ml bottle from local Co-op. Pours amber with flat, thin head. Aroma a little herbal with treacly sweetness.
2.9 Meget maltet (krystal malt), og fyldig krop. Let humlet.
3.7 Pours clear amber with medium white top. Aroma is old cloves, butter, malts, some hay, dried fruits. Taste is fruity, some bitterness, toasted bread, malts, hops, butter with bread. Low carbonisation, hops in after. Nice bitter.

2.4 Backlog. From bottle at Mi2 at Cardinal 08.04.15. Dark golden to pale copper. Some bitterness and malt sweetness in aroma. Neutral, but slightly fruity taste. Low bitterness. Medium carbonation.
3.5 Typical bitter in appearance. Healthy white head. Tasty sweetish malts with hints of nut flavours. Long dry finish with really good, fruity hop flavours. A first-class bitter, with high drinkability.
3.7 Just like the label says. Fruity and full bodied. Nice malt and sweetness, and well balanced so not overly strong on any one point. Drink at the right temperature to gain as much flavour as possible. Good drop especially easy to drink.
Geruch sehr hopfig, getreidig, zitronig. Geschmack trocken hopfig, getreidig, grasig, etwas Karamell.
