Hop Back Crop Circle

Hop Back Crop Circle

Cask: Regular. Also available bottle conditioned.
A very clean, flaxen-coloured beer with wonderful thirst-quenching properties. The subtle blend of aroma and bittering hops give a crispness on the tongue which is delicately fruity, giving way to some dryness. The inclusion of flaked maize in the grist subtly hints at crisp corn flavours. Crop Circle bottled condition beer is now accredited as gluten free.

2.8 Cask at cloisters. Pours clear golden, nose is floral, toffee, lemon, taste is sweet, toffee, cloying, floral.
2.2 Cask @Cloisters, Edinburgh. Pours golden thick-ish white head. Nose is slight hops some biscuit unfortunately big soap. Taste is virtually all soap. I remember this first up as a dark beer many years ago and then the change to a golden beer. If this is the normal beer from Hopback its a real pity.
2.9 Colour of pale lager, with a decent white head and even a bit of lacing. Body is light enough to be refreshing without being watery. Citrus hops evident in the nose and these lead the way in the taste too. Bit more malt would be nice.
2.8 Bottle from supermarket. Golden colour with a big foamy white head. Light grainy aroma. Taste light sweet.

2.4 Flaske 500ml fra Kjeller 5. Veldig lys gyldengulbrun. Svakt uklar. Høyt kremaktig skum som daler sakte. Svakt metallisk aroma. Smaken har antydning til gress. Litt tynn. Litt syrlighet i ettersmaken. Bra tørsteslukker.
3.8 Cask @ OT. Lovely smooth and drinkable beer with heavy bread notes and a very fresh flowery hop profile.
2.4 Cask @Wyndham Armas, Salisbury. 08-08-2014. In short: butiric nose beer. Strong butiric nose. Pours clear bright gold with little white head. Short head retention, no lacing. Taste is mild, malty, sweet, as well as the aftertaste. I guess some kind of problem occurred with this beer, cause Hop Back at its "home" is supposed to be in proper condition.Weird.
5.0 Perfect summer beer, served at the correct temperature is full of flavour but smooth enough on the taste buds. Doesn’t blow your head off like other beers so you can have a fair few and still walk at the end of the session. As a real ale it’s best served around 15 degrees but can be served a bit cooler although this does rob the flavour
2.0 Bottle from Matkroken Natland, Bergen. Pours a clear light yellow body with a massive frothy white head. Aroma is wet grains, straw, grass and hints of pale malts and metallic notes. Taste is pale malts, wet grains, dry cereals and hints of straw and grass. Light body, medium carbonation. Fantastically boring stuff.
3.0 Bona cervesa molt equilibrada i gustosa. Buena cerveza muy equilibrada y sabrosa.
3.1 Cask @ Glue Pot, Swindon. Straw, almost transparent, with a thin white head. Light aroma of honey and malt with vinous overtones. Surprisingly sweet taste, like a gentler version of Summer Lightning without the astringency. Long sweet nectary finish. Weak mouthfeel. Good beer, but slight and unassertive.
3.4 Cask the hind Leicester. Golden colour ok white head and lacing. Aroma is slight citrus malts. Taste is sweet malts mild bitter hops. Medium full body nice mouthfeel soft carbonated. Decent session ale.
3.4 Cask @ The Clarendon Leicester. Pale golden colour. Aroma is cereal-like, almost straw. Very easy drinking with slight hop bitterness. Not loads of flavour, but I imagine it's quite the thing for a summers day. Unfortunately it's a sodden February day.
2.9 Cask. Incredibly light straw ale with a decent white head. Wheat and lemon nose. Wheat, sugar and lemon in the mouth. Sugar puffs! It's "ok".
2.8 500ml bottle. Clear pale golden colour, foamy white head that dissipates away and aroma of cereal grains, corn, hay. Sweetish biscuity cereal corn flavour with a grassy metallic bitterness. Light bodied, well carbonated, dry metallic bitter finish. OK.
4.0 Dobre i zdrowe bezglutenowe piwo. Zaczne od wygladu, zwlaszcza piany. Obfita i niesamowita jest do tego trwala. Stoi caly czas w pintowej szklanicy, w zasadzie ona sama jest. Lekka metnosc i zamglona zlota barwa piwa ladnie wspolgra z ta piana. Smak zbozowy i jakby lekko orzechowy, delikatny i orzezwiajacy. Polecam szczegolnie bezglutenowca

3.4 Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear golden beer with a small white head. Malty aroma, caramel, fruity, spicy notes, egg notes, floral, hop notes. Fruity spicy flavor, bready, biscuits, hay, pepper notes. Simple but refreshing.
3.8 Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Clear golden. Fruity nose with hay and salt. Mim dry with light body and soft mouthfeel. Dough and hay, mid bitter finish. A very quenching, edgeless golden ale.
2.9 Cask at Angleterre, Helsinki. Colour is golden with some white head. Aromas and flavours are grass, hay and some hops.
2.2 Cask at the Birmingham beer festival 2012. Light straw yellow pour with a big bubbly head. It didn't look great I must say so I wasn't expecting much. The aroma was a bit skanky. It smelled like stale malt from an old brewery. Lord only knows what hops they used, but it didn't taste so good. It was rather sour with very little else to excite my tastebuds. I like sour... I really do, but this just wasn't so nice. I'm starting to think that Hop Back are losing their way. I only ordered a third of a pint but struggled to finish it.
