Hop City Barking Squirrel

Hop City Barking Squirrel

When your brewmaster comes up with a recipe as good as this one, you let him name the beer whatever he wants. Here’s what makes our recipe so darn good: a rich burnt orange colour, darker than most lagers, a smooth, medium body with a bold, but pleasant, hop taste, full of flavour, unlike your traditional ’cold-as-ice’ beers with no taste, made with only the best ingredients, including Canadian & English Malts, and German & Czech Hops.

3.1 Canned, 473 ml from Beers of Europe, Kings Lynn, Norfolk. Amber with white head. There is a sweet caramel, toffee character to this from the start, some fruitiness, light melon notes. The sweetness is a touch cloying as you go through the beer. A tad dull by the close. It's okay.
3.5 Pale ale, h-malty, l-hops, caramel, m-head, h-carb, h-body, B++
4.8 This beer is delicious! The smell, colour, taste - I love it!
2.9 De couleur cuivre avec col blanc, on n’a dés malt caramélisé.en bouche c est goûte le caramel grillé et léger soupçon houblon mais très léger
3.2 Can shared at home, thanks to Móni. Pours deep amber and a finger off-white head. Nose is faint grains, quite weak. In taste it's definitely better, decent toasty and bready malts with a touch of herbal-y, moderately bitter hoppy touch. Light yet somehow full body, average carbo, goes down easy. Korrekt kis vedelős sör, kifejezetten kellemes a maga nemében.
5.0 I’m a lake of bay drinker and when there wasn’t any on the shelf I turned to trying this beer. I love a beer that has full flavour and is green. Green being no preservatives and has a shelf life. On my shelf it gets drank. Summer of 2018, this has been my beer of choice. If you haven’t tried it.... it won’t let you down. Cheers from Woodstock!
5.0 Got this in a sampler with some other beers at Deacon Brodies when in Ottawa on Vacation. This was by far the best beer in the lot and I would order this again if I had the chance. I like "Red Beers" and prefer this to the red beers I can get at "Beer store".
3.2 Vibrant Amber off white head rich caramel light toast taste can from boe at home.
4.7 One of my favourite beers. Excellent body and aroma. Quenches the thirst and leaves you craving for more
3.3 8th sin tasted really good compared to this one, Altogether way better then most beers. Thank you Hop City. Some beer are a bit too foamy.
3.4 Medium carbonation, light toffee notes. Everything from Hop CIty pleased my needs so far.
3.6 Malt forward sweet beer. Not a strong finish but an easy drink lager. Caramel undertones give it a sweet rinse. Medium cream head.
2.9 Ok brew. Slight metalic flavor to it. I have tasted much better Ont. craft Amber Lagers than this, ie; Longslice Loose Lips Lager. Drinkable. 473 ml can lcbo, TO
3.2 lighter on the hops, slightly oxidized. Very easy drinking, great on a warm day on the patio
2.9 On tap at St. Augustine’s, pours a hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is very subdued, with bready malt and toasted caramel. Flavour is on the sweet side, with bready malt, toasted caramel and light brown sugar. Somewhat sweet, with a dry bready malt base. Decent.
3.0 This is a nice malty lager and not too, too sweet. It's a bit nutty with some caramel tones as well. It's a little sticky in the palate but nothing too bad. A bit of hop bitterness rounds thing out in the finish.
4.7 Great tasting before and after taste. Very enjoyable! Hearty, yet smooth.
3.8 I thought this one was quite well done for an amber/scotch ale. Better than average for my taste.
2.4 Pint at the airport. Malt is faint. Clear copper it’s retained tan head and massive patterns. Lacking malt in the taste.
2.7 On tap at Montanas in Woodstock Ontario. Pours dark clear orange with a fine tan head. Aroma is subtle toasty malt. Flavour is malty with a full mouthfeel. Finish is slightly sweet.
2.8 Pours a copper from a tap, light caramel aroma with some bread in the mouth. Okay beer.
2.0 Ressemble plus a une rousse qu'une ambrée. Aucune balance ou subtilité, juste un goût de sucre/caramélisé. Pas de fun a boire ça!
3.1 341ml Flasche. Bernsteinfarben und klar mit minimaler Schaumkrone. Malzig. Leichter Körper. Süßlich.
3.6 First time drinker. Reminds me a bit like Yeungling which I love to drink in Florida
Null Bitteraromen.
4.8 Hop City Barking Squirrel is a great beer. Its a little on the heavy side (reminds me somewhat of Guinness) but overall a great beer. The only downside is the price. I wouldn’t get it all the time because of the price but picking up 15 to 24 tall boys once in a while isn’t that bad.
3.0 Had this from a tall boy can with Marc. Hop City Brewing is in Brampton. Clear medium amber color. Malty nose. Medium mouth feel. Sweet caramel malty flavor but with a crisp finish. 5% alcohol. F Avey
3.2 Bottle at J:Gallery inside of the M50 art district in Shanghai. Aroma is a little grassy with some malt. Taste is quite malty but only lightly sweet. Smooth texture.
3.6 Can. Clear amber body, medium beige head with medium retention and no lacing. Aroma of caramel, nuts, grains, mineral water and herbs. Taste of caramel, rye bread, peppercorn, grains and herbs. Great example of amber.
3.2 (bottle 0,355l) Aroma: Malty, bread, very light spicy. Appearance: Clear dark golden color. Medium, white head. Taste: Malty, sweet, bread, light alcohol warm, light hoppy. Palate: Medium body. Sticky texture. Overall: Good, malty.
