Hop House 13 Lager

Named after an early 1900’s hop store building at St. James’s Gate where hops are still stored, Hop House 13 is a double-hopped lager made with Irish barley and aromatic hops and continues the 256 years of heritage and brewing excellence at St. James’s Gate.
A crisp and full-flavoured lager with subtle malty notes and fresh hop aromas with hints of Apricot and Peach.

Finish is short to average, malty and lightly sweetish, light - some caramel and faint bread, faint hoppyness. Caramel sweetish lager - more caramel than bitterness. For those with sweet toot (and fear of hops).

3.3 Barwa złota, klarowne, gęsta piana. Dość ostra goryczka połączona z ciasteczkowym tłem, gorzki finisz.

3.4 Bottle. Clear amber color, fine white. Not overwhelmingly fruity aroma. Dry, high bitter taste. Fruity, exotic aftertaste. Full body, low carbonation.

3.4 0.44l can. Clear golden colour with medium lasting white head. Aroma: Citrus, grapefruit, hint of caramel and yeast. Taste: Has a light malty start with a quite hoppy, bitter mouthfeel. Has a slightly buttery texture. Light/medium body with fizzy carbonation. Long lasting bitter/dry finish.

3.2 Quite hoppy aromatic for a lager, so the name is not misleading. Good solid body as well. Altogether a positive drinking experience, although still not super exciting.

2.9 Light amber body and white head. Hoppy aroma with some malts, fruits and grass. Malty, hops, fruity and some herbal taste, low bitter. Medium body ad carbonation. A good beer.

4.0 Fine carb and foam, color is astonishing. Very indeed peachy fresh fruity but a very solid and grounded hoppy lager beer. In the end a little bit flat watery finish. Recommended!

3.0 33cl Bottle @ Erasmus Bruin Cafe, Salamanca. Golden colour with a thin white head. Aroma is malt, hops, slightly herbal. Taste follows the aroma. Medium body, average carbonation.

3.2 Can -pours a clear amber-gold with a 2 finger puffy white cap that lasts....demure aromas of malts and dried grass, some earthiness...has a bright lager character with a sharp mouth feel...flavor hs malts and hops in balance up front then gores to a dryer hoppier clean finish...a decent lager for sessioning by a mega-brewer...enjoyable, drinkable and tasty

2.9 440 ml can. Pours clear golden color with white head. Aroma of hops, with notes of yeast and mild grassy hints.The taste is bitter, hoppy with herbal notes and sweetish notes of yeast and malt. Bitter aftertaste with notes of essential oil.

3.2 Robe or sombre limpide, mousse moyenne, mais disparaît assez vite, reste un résidu sur le bord du verre, belle carbo irrégulière. Nez houblonné, herbacé, avec un léger côté biscuité. En bouche, attaque légère, suivie d'une certaine rondeur biscuitée, pain très légèrement grillé, gros côté herbacé avec une amertume quand même relative. Ne ressemble pas tellement à une lager. C'est pas mauvais du tout, sans être fou, c'est pas mal subtil pour une indus.

3.1 Nagy, hófehér, tartós hab, borostyán szín. Lágeres, visszafogott, de határozott illat. Intenzív virágos, barackos, kissé citrusos izvilág, az ipari lágerekre jellemző olajos és enyhén kénes jelleg nélkül. Száraz, kozepesen szénsavas, közepesen kesernyés. kellemes, kifejezetten friss sör.

3.1 bottiglia 33 cl, schiuma bianco sporco fine media persistenza, colore oro limpido, al naso malto cereali agrumi luppoli, in bocca è fruttata malto pane e agrumi, corpo leggero, carbonazione moderata, dolce con amaro percettibile. 3.9 bardzo dobry lager, zaskakujace, bardzo chmielny, klasyczny, wytrawny, malo slodowosci, nie dominuje, a jest ukryta, taki old schoolowy lager, z piekna czapa trwalej piany. no lagerek lepszy niz swego czasu pity harp, zaskakujaco dobre jak na lagerowy styl.

2.6 On peut dire ce que l'on veut...Guiness est pour moi synonyme de Stout et ce n'est pas cette Lager qui va me faire changer d'avis. Vous me direz qu'il est bien que des brasseries historiques comme celle-ci augmente son champ d'action au lieu de se reposer sur ses lauriers. Mais je pense qu'ils auraient mieux à faire en restant sur les stouts, voire à aller sur les Black IPA. Mais suis-je bête...la vente avant tout ! N'attendez rien de sensationnel donc ici, pour cette Hop House 13 Lager qui ne vous surprendra pas pour sa présence en bouche, ni pas sa complexité aromatique. Celle-ci est néanmoins globalement appréciable avec des accents de chouchen, surtout présent au nez et qui se retrouve de façon plus modérée à la dégustation. Le visuel est sur un blond doré soutenu parfaitement limpide, sans mousse. Au nez, le chouchen domine (alcool breton à base de miel pour ceux qui ne connaissent pas), avec du caramel et des céréales. A la dégustation, l'attaque est insipide, avec un petit côté caramel qui est là pour nous rappeler que nous ne sommes pas en train de boire de l'eau pétillante. La deuxième bouche, sans être beaucoup plus goutue, a une petite présence douceâtre avec de légers arômes de biscuit. Ce n'est pas l'arrière bouche qui nous égaye davantage. La troisième bouche arrive donc à point nommé pour ne pas nous morfondre complètement. On y retrouve les arômes du nez, le chouchen en retrait, avec cependant une intensité limitée et un alcool, à 5 % très limité. Le final...pas vu ! Une chose est certaine, dans un pub, à Dublin, je ne demanderai jamais une Hop House 13 Lager !
