Hop Valley Citrus Mistress

Hop Valley Citrus Mistress

This seasonal IPA features 4 different hops with multiple flavors and aromas complimented with the addition of grapefruit peel. It creates a bouquet of citrus, peach and tropical fruits with enough Munich malt to produce a classic burnt orange color.

3.9 On tap at Portland City Grill. Clear amber with foamy cream colored head. Citrus, caramel, pine. Smooth. Medium bitter. Well done. Nice balance.
3.7 16fl oz. Pours a slightly hazy orange caramel with a half finger of head. Aroma is a big, juicy citrus, sweet caramel, very slight pine and resin, and a hint of floral. Taste is balanced but on the bitter side. Resin, pine, citrus, slight grass, and a drawn out, bitter ending. Medium-full body with a dry finish.

3.5 12 oz. can. Pours a cloudy, light, orange color, with a big, frothy, white head. The aroma is grapefruit peel, dry grass, biscuit dough, and cardamom. Fairly dry, with a light, sticky bitterness. Light to medium body, with a crisp, clean mouthfeel. This is a refreshing and tasty, citrusy IPA.
3.3 A golden ipa with a thin white head. In aroma, nice biscuit malt with citrusy floral hops, dank and smooth. In mouth, sweet caramel malt with loads of citrusy floral hops, grapefruit pulp, nice and smooth. On tap at Village Bottle Shop.
4.3 From a Can to a Glass. Pours a Slightly hazy Amber color with big frothy head. Aroma is citrus, caramel, floral, Oranges, some spices, and cracker malt note. Taste follows the aroma well with a Grapefruit note in the sip but not the aroma. Medium mouth feel. Great malt Backbone and thick Malt rings all down the Glass.Very well balanced good IPA!
4.0 On tap at the ballgame at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. From PracticePlastic - thanks! Best blend of the 3 Hop Valley brews at the game. Ironically, not that bitter for 80 IBU. Fairly smooth. Certainly hoppy tasty. 15
3.5 Aroma: honey, grass and notes of lemon. Taste: citrus, honey and malt. Bitter aftertaste. Decent ipa
3.1 Can. Lightly hazed amber, low head formation. Pineapple with a touch of sawdust on the nose. Prickly citrus on the palate, strong grapefruit, mild lemonade backbone. Another OK IPA,
3.6 Piney nose, with some grapefruit. Medium body, some sweetness. Slightly heavy mouthfeel. Bitter flavor, but no noble hop notes. Grapefruit flavors pop up in the finish, but overall the finish is harsh with a clinging bitterness.
3.7 From a 12 oz. bottle. Pours a hazy gold with an off white head. Aromas of tropical fruits and peach. Flavors are bitter grapefruit peel. Lingering bitter finish.
3.8 A but malt heavy somehow with all these hops. I believe there is some grapefruit in here but it's overrun with hops and seems like you could tease the grapefruit flavor out of the hops. A nice hopbomb reguardless
3.9 Can at AmeriCan in vegas with commonmac and samadouche and rosskyle . Light copper with medium white head. Pine hop nose. Sharp hop bite, heavy bitterness. A big hoppy beer, pretty good.
4.2 Can at American Beer and Cocktails in Vegas with commonshawn, samadouche, and rosskyle. Heavy haze on a golden orange colored effort. Plenty of off white head. Nose is big assertive citrus with some nice pine notes. Great aroma. Taste actually caught me off guard with its quality. Lots of citrus but without the NE IPA juicy characteristics. The right combination of tropical sweet and lingering bitterness. A very pleasant surprise. I'd stray from home again.
3.9 Served in a can. Cloudy orange color with a white head. Tropical fruit citrus aroma. Really nice IPA.
3.2 This IPA had the potential to be great, but it is merely good. Copper, hazy with almost no head. Aroma of very mild citrus and peach. Taste is dominated by soapy hops flavor, with citrus and pepper spice in the background. The malt balance is nearly perfect, but I'm not a fan of Munich malt, so that flavor throws it off the tracks for me.
4.5 Disclaimer: I'm not some trained beer snob/taster or anything like that and I can't hardly tell one IPA from another 99% of the time. With that said, this ones got a little something special to it. It starts out exactly like you expect an IPA to start, with a dash of hops straight to your tonsiles, but it transitions quickly to this delightfully tangy finish... Or so you thought, because right when you think this beer is cashing in for the night it hamfists a grapefruit straight into your mouth, and just as quickly vanished from sight, like some sort of sick grapefruitist... Long story short 9/10, would buy again.
3.4 Draft. Pours somewhat hazy copper with white head and lacing. Pine aroma. Dry grapefruit with pine; bread malt backbone.

3.7 Pici, villámgyorsan elillanó hab, félbarna szín. Grapefruitos, narancsos, déligyümölcsös illat. Citrusos, déligyümölcsös, enyhén citrushéjas ízek, némi fűszeres aromával. Közepesen tetes, közepesen szénsavas, erősen keserű. Kellemes, jól eltalált IPA.
4.1 Can from Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas on 9 October 2017. Hoppy aroma with plenty of citrus in the mix. Big bodied with a long grapefruit finish. Slight zestiness and resinous in the mouth.
3.7 Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark yellow colour. Moderate malty and heavy hoppy aroma. Citrus and apricut notes. Heavy bitter flavor. Long heavy bitter finish. Creamy palate.
3.5 Draft @ Blake Street Tavern, Denver CO. Pours a slightly hazy golden pale orange color with a small white head. Has a fruity malty hoppy citrus aroma. Fruity malty citrus hoppy bitter flavor. Has a fruity malty grassy citrus hoppy bitter finish.
3.5 On draft at brewery. Not much nose. Sweet hop candy like most their beers. Light harsh balance.
4.6 Oh, Hop Valley. Our time together was so sweet. Good service, friendly patrons, delicious homemade empanadas with salsa verde, and hoppy beer everywhere. Citrus Mistress was the last of my 4 half pints at Hop Valley, and, my god, what a gorgeous way to end it. Citrus Mistress has a copper-orange appearance. Massive tropical fruit and fruity candy aromatics. Passion fruit, grapefruit, tangerine, guava, apricot, mango, peach, and clementine flavors. Just a hint of caramel malt underneath and way more than a hint of bitterness. This is probably the most approachable of the IPA's I tried, and it's still not for the faint of heart. All good things must end. Alas, it was for the best. My palate was pretty much wrecked from having 4 West Coast IPA's in a row.
3.7 Tap. Pours clear golden orange, small off white head, good lacing. Aroma is Grapefruit, pine. Flavor is light sweet, light bitter, grapefruit forward, lingering pine bitterness. Medium body. Old school, but with a pop.
4.1 12 ounce can poured to wine glass Sight: Dark yellow/amber, hazy, cloudy, medium tan foam, lacing Aroma: Very Fragrant- hoppy 3.50 taste: delicious, medium bitterness, sweet Feel: long follow through, bitter aftertaste, medium carbonation Overall: Very good beer, even got a growler of this beer.
3.6 473ml can. Pours a hazy medium orange with tiny particles floating around and a large, frothy, long lasting, white head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of pale malt, grapefruit, peach, tropical fruit and floral. Sweet flavour of caramel malt, grapefruit peel, orange peel, tropical fruit, pine resin and a dry, bitter grass finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty.
4.8 I’m not a beer expert but I’ve had a decent amount of different ipa’s and this one is really smooth with a nice bitter to sweet ratio with a citrus touch. Not too bitter but can still taste the hops, I hate when ipa’s are way too bitter and that’s suppose to be considered good, I’m fine with a decent amount of bitterness but when it over powers everything then it’s not that enjoyable. This is a solid A, good stuff
3.6 From a 12 oz bottle into a tulip glass. Pours orange gold with head and lace. Aroma of grains, pale malt, orange and grapefruit zest. Significant carbonation and mouthfeel. Flavors of grains, pale malt, hay, straw hops, slight black pepper, grapefruit rind zest. Overall rich, bold, citrusy bitter.
