Hoppin' Frog Barrel Aged Outta Kilter

Hoppin' Frog Barrel Aged Outta Kilter

"The rich and malty character of our Outta Kilter Scotch Style Red Ale is masterfully complimented by barrel aging, as the ’angel’s share’ slowly evaporates resulting in a wonderful concentrating of flavors. The full flavor experience goes one step further with the vanillin undertones from the oak wood of the barrel, adding a savory, satisfying depth of flavor, ultimately creating a wonderful sensory experience!

Bottles marked "Barrel Aged" Outta Kilter is aged in Bourbon barrels while "Liquor Barrel" Outta Kilter are aged in Brandy barrels.

3.7 Piana obfita drobna powoli opada, zdobi szkło.
3.4 Refrigerated brown bomber poured into a glass. Clear copper with small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, medium body, medium carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel, some toffee, wood, and some booze.
3.9 Draught @ Beer Temple. Clear red color. Dense off white head with a thin layer retention and good lacing. Aroma's: malty sweet, red fruit, light vanilla. Retronasal too it's sweet, red fruit, with soft whiskey, wood/tannines, light vanilla. Flavor is above moderate sweet with a hint of bitter. Alcoholfeel is not too strong, but still warming. Above medium bodied. Long finish with wood/tannines and light bitterness. A big improvement from the basebeer.

3.5 Draft at the Hoppin' Frog Tasting Room. Poured a mostly clear, caramel color with a little orange hue to it. Aroma was caramel, vanilla notes. Orange. Sweet toffee, butterscotch. Whiskey. Booze, with a sweet finish. Light vanilla.
A magas alkoholtartalmat jól elrelytették. Enyhén szénsavas, a keserűje összetett, a komló kissé háttérbe szorul, a hordó fanyar keserűje viszi a prímet. Iszonyúan finom, nagyon jól kiegyensúlyozott sör.
4.4 CherryHolzSofter mit dem krassem Sour Ale Sideburner. Lambiknähe & WaldbeerenMadness machen ihn zum coolen StyleOutsider??!! Bomber für 8 Euro aus Haarlem ...
3.8 Pours deep red colour, little head, some residue. Very rich, caramel aroma. Intense vanilla and whisky notes. Some dried plums, raisins and berries. Rich mouthfeel, big body. Very sweet flavour, enormously intense caramel, rich and a lot of vanilla and cask flavours. Long rich finish, in which the bourbon barrel comes out fully.
3.8 650 ml bottle, pours red/chestnut, hazy, offwhite creamy head. aromas of wood, raisin, honey, vanilla, whiskey, and baked apples. full to medium body, soft to medium carbonisation. oily texture, maybe a bit heavy on the sweetness, rather sticky finish

3.9 650 ml bottle. Pours a hazy light copper with a nice beige head with relatively small pores. Intense aroma with lots of whisky notes, wood and vanilla. Medium to full body with a light to medium carbonation. Medium to heavily sweet with a very light bitterness. The taste is very rich of various aromas, again with whisky, brown sugar, caramel, honey, raisins, cinnamon and also some alcohol. Overall very enjoyable beer on which you can sip for quite a while, maybe a little too much sweetness.

3.3 Bottle, bought @Beershoppen, Kolding. Mild gusher. Pours clear amber with a tiny, fizzy off-white head that soon disappears. Quite a bit of floaties. Aroma has lots of Vanilla, fat caramel, biscuits and oak. Fine creamy mouthfeel, subdued carbonation. Flavour is sweet, vinious and Vanilla. Light oaky dryness to go with the viniousness, sticky caramel as well. Too sweet and too one-sided.
3.8 Smooth malty caramel cocktail, toffee, some wood impact, corduroy, moderate sweet with light bitterness. Lovely but nothing fancy
3.8 65 cl bottle @ Timo A. Pours dark mahogany red color with a small head, lots of sediment floating around. Sweet caramel and malts on the nose, mild nutty tones, some vanilla and bourbon notes, faint bread, syrupy sweetness. Sweet caramel malty flavor, nutty dry notes, resin, very subtle chocolaty tones, vanilla. Smooth and sweet, quite pleasant, alcohol comes slightly through but nothing disturbing. 5424
3.4 22 oz bottle. Courtesy of olio. Clear red amber color with a tiny tan head and some floaters. Sweetness, marmalade, resin and caramel malt in the aroma. The flavor is sweetness, malt, marmalade, apricot and some alcohol. German Bock notes. Strong red ale if you ask me.
3.2 Shared 22 oz. bottle. Pours medium brown/copper and hazy with a beige head. Aroma of booze and malt. Taste is malt, bourbon, caramel, and wood with faint vanilla notes. Decent.
3.4 Aroma: lots of bourbon, vanilla and malt; Appearance: cloudy red pour with fairly thin off white head that dissipates quickly; Taste: follows nose but body a little thin; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: good but not amazing; might buy again.
3.6 Ruddy pour, big foamy off white head. Aroma of cherry, caramel, toffee, spices. Taste follows, with a lesser kick. Quite malty. Nice.
4.2 Pours with a large, slow head over a deep copper colored body. Boozy aroma first strikes me as rum. As it warms the alcohol becomes more distinct as whiskey, while malts provide a backdrop of caramel with a light roasted nuttiness. Smooth and silky, malty sweet yet tempered with that roast bitterness. Whiskey notes are obvious in the flavor, and the alcohol provides a pleasant warming sensation to the palate and gullet. I’ve been to a few "Festivals of Barrel Aged Beers" and I think this offering would fare well. ~~~~ 22 oz. bomber, purchased at the brewery.
3.6 Sampled on draft at the brewpub this beer poured a dark bronze color with a medium sized foamy orange-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was caramel, golden fruit, honey and coconut. The flavor was caramel, toasty malts, honey, golden fruit, coconut and a hint of smoke. Medium length finish. Medium body. Interesting.
3.6 Rubí limpio y espuma marfil. Aromas de bourbon, maíz, fondo de Malta acaramelado. Cuerpo sedoso y denso, sabor dulce de bourbon y final seco.
3.4 Keg at Craft Holborn. It pours clear dark amber with a thick yellow - beige head. The aroma is rich, sweet, vanilla custard, creamy coconut, toffee, brown bread and fruit cake. The taste is pretty damn sweet upfront, vanilla, creamy, coconut, custard, toffee, alcohol warmth, fruit cake and wood with a dry, boozy finish. Medium - full body and moderate carbonation. A bit sweet and boozy, but fun in small doses.
3.6 Keg at CBC CG, London. It pours a clean golden color with a small white head. Aroma is sweet bold and lightly yeasty with notes of raisins, vanilla, liqueur and oak chips. Taste is also sweet and boozy with more notes of toffee and raisins. Medium to full bodied with good carbonation. Overall, ok
