Hoppin' Frog DORIS The Destroyer

Hoppin' Frog DORIS The Destroyer

Beware! Beware! The Double Oatmeal Russian Imperial Stout will destroy your taste buds like no other. More hops and more malt than BORIS create a super deep roasted and full bodied flavor, making this the great, great grand daddy of all stout styles.

4.1 From a bomber poured rich dark dark brown with a raging dirty brown head that settles to a nice rim with viscous legs. Aroma is dark chocolate malts, roasted, with cocoa and a bit of tanginess. Thick and creamy body with sweet rich chocolate malts upfront that resolve to roasted coffee, then oatmeal and some real roast/hoppy bitterness to finish. Earthy and tangy; a bit cloying. More than mild carbonation. Aftertaste has echoes of chocolate roast, but leans bitter. Booziness hidden, but creeps. Excellent. 506/
4.5 From the 650 ml. bottle with noticeable date stamp. Served about 45 degrees. Deep dark brown to jet black pour with a modest dark tan head. Big aroma of roasted dark chocolate malt, a little musty cellar, and earthy hops. The 10.5% alcohol is not front and center on the nose. But I do not pick up the promised oatmeal. Heavy, chewy body. The sweet chocolate malts start the tasting experience with some of the cooked oatmeal findings it way into the flavor and a bigger earthy bitterness than I expected. Maybe that was the booze, which I got more in the taste. I'd probably do 5 out of 5 if I got more of the oatmeal. Otherwise, a topnotch Imperial Stout.
Carbonazione bassa. Birra ben fatta e deliziosamente bevibile. Ottima davvero.
4.1 Aromas espresso, chocolate, mocha, nougat, alcohol sugars, roasted malts, licorice, oats, raisins, oak, vanilla, barrel wood, whiskey, rye spice, corkscrew and sherry. Pours black with a lively brown foam. Taste is rich chocolate, espresso, mocha, latte, milk chocolate, nougat, sweet plum wine, prunes, dates, figs and raisins. Mid palate falls into oak, whiskey, rye spice, vanilla, almond, barrel wood, toasted alcohol sugars, malted barley and aged wort malt. Overall, a great runner up to the TORIS with some of the classic flavors.
4.7 (nez fondant-houblons, bouche pleine (onctuo-creamy), ∞-well-made, ∞-sensuelle-hard (faut s’accrocher))
4.1 Bottle shared at Puttetjes’. Black with light tan head. Big sweet deep roasted rye malts, chocolate, oats, deep roast. Big sweet and bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Lovely.
4.1 W aromacie czekolada. Dużo ciała, alkohol nie wyczuwalny, duża oleistość, całkiem dobrze pijalny RIS.
3.9 Taster showing pitch black with barely any head. The nose shows very intense notes of roasted malt, licorice and light umami. The palate is smooth, full bodied, slick with mild carbonation. A lot of coffee and adzuki bean with a strong espresso bitterness on the finish. Just a lot of flavor.
4.3 Toranomon Hills tasting, thanks Jon. Pours just very dark brown pour, some lighter brown bubbles on top but very low carbonation there, obviously. Nose I do like, nice thick and creamy chocolate toffee, good roast, warming even to smell this. Light smoke and dried black plums there. Tastes boozy, creamy and these dark fruits are really there, kind of Korean salty smoked plum character. huge flavours and super balanced at that. Wow. Hops have subdued during the years it has been aged - but time has done good for this, really loving it.
4.0 Big 22 Oz bottle aged 6 Years. Medium to small fluffy dark brown head. Very dark color. A nice wsrming roasted malt aroma. Sweet caramell and chocolate taste that lingers. Balanced bitterness and body. One of my personal favorit imperialism stouts.
4.2 Bottle. Color: Black, thin light brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, chocolate, coffee hints. Taste: Dark roasted malt, notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee and mocha. Bit earthy and boozy. Moderate to medium sweet and bitter. Full body, below average carbonation. Nice, bit sticky mouthfeel. Long lasting roasted malt and mocha finish. Great Imperial Stout.
4.2 Bottle. Black color, brown head. Aroma has roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, hint of wood. Round taste, sweet melasses, hint of smoke, coffee, chocolate. Quality hoppin stout.
3.9 On tap scura schiuma media non molto persidtente intenso tosato caffe cioccolato amaro ae liquirizia discreto corpo piuttosto amaro alcool nascosto
4.3 Pullo @ Alko. Loistavasti tehty IS, pehmeä ja monipuolinen siemailtava. Upea kokonaisuus.
4.0 From Boxbeers. In Teku glass. Playing Avadon 3. Well executed imperial stout, but lacking something special to stand out among other and deserve its high price. Abv well hidden.
4.4 Puur zwart met fijne mokkakleurige schuimkraag die redelijk snel inzakt. Koffie, roast, tabak, leer, plakkerig, (pure) chocolade. Volle stout met goeie (Koffie)bittere afdronk. Prima.
4.0 22 oz Bottle shared with ebone1988. The pour is a dark black with a thicker dark mocha colored head and a couple spots of lace as it falls to a thin ring. The aroma is heavy chocolate and roasted malts with a light alcohol and a hint of oatmeal. There is a dark fruit and a bitter hop that pop through on the back end and balance it out. The flavor is much of the same. The dark chocolate and bitter malt is interesting with a split dark fruit and a hint of alcohol. There is a nice balance and a smooth alcohol on the finish. The mouth feel is medium bodied and softly carbonated with a lingeringly dark fruit and hop bitter heavy finish. The aftertaste is a little bitter and fruity with a nice dark malt. 8 4 8 4 16
4.1 Bottle shared with koleminer20. Aroma is oatmeal, dark fruit, licorice, dark chocolate, just like a lighter version of TORIS. Appearance is black, dark brown head, poured thickish. Taste is lovely, roasted malt, dark fruit, licorice, dark chocolate, coffee, decadent. Mouthfeel is heavy body, light carbonation, roasted malt dark chocolate coffee dark fruit licorice aftertaste. Overall, this is quite excellent.
4.2 Clear, black colored, medium creamy tan head, nice lacing. Aroma is malty, roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, some toffee, some oat. Taste is medium to very sweet malt, roasted, chocolate and coffee notes, toffee, bit licorice, oatmeal, light alcohol with warmth, medium roasty bitterness. Full bodied, soft carbonation, oily to creamy. (on tap, Craft Room, Zagreb)
4.0 Tap at Craft Room. Pitch black, trace brown head. Very nice, full malty aroma, dried figs, caramel, toffee, slightly boozy, vague cocoa, glue comes up later on. Taste... Nice full silky roastiness, chocolate, orange liqueur, boozy notes too, but less later, citric notes indicative of hoppiness pop up too. While at first the aroma seems classy and the taste crude, with warming, things change completely and this reveals a classy imperial stout worthy of hype!
4.6 Sweet candy and licorice aroma. Bit ashy, and boozy, strong cocoa and chocolate. Jet black color with big sized creamy dark brown head. Tastes like perfection. Chocolate, bitter cocoa, oats, alcohol in very weak traces, earthy. Dark chocolate chip cookie aftertaste. Full body, thick, creamy, bit oily. Only slight warming, but still pleasant. Excellent stuff. //tap at Craft Room
4.0 8 - 4 - 8 - 5- 15 Close to black body with a large, very long-lived, light-brown head that laces the glass well. Malty and strong aroma of dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, coffee, burnt sugar and some alcohol. Strong flavour of dark roasted malt, brown sugar, and a more gentle chocolate feel than in the aroma; milk chocolate and chocolate sauce. Also some coffee. Moderate to heavy sweet taste followed by a long-lasting moderate bitter finish. Full body, incredibly smooth and creamy texture, soft carbonation. Lovely! [12.5 cl from tap @ Brewberry, Paris]
4.3 Bottle, from Csak a jor, Budapest. Pours an ink black with a dark tan head. Aroma: cocoa, roasted malt, coffee, oak notes. Taste: bitter cocoa, coffee beans, roasted malt, mild cherry flavours. Full bodied. Mild boozy sweetness with a lingering bitter boozy finish. Complex and very tasty flavour balance. This is a good beer.
4.0 Pours motor oil thick black with a thin, dark head. Aroma is heavy caramel, heavy oatmeal and heavy roast - nothing light about this beer. Taste is thick dark chocolate and sweet caramel, mixing to robust roast, light spice and building hoppiness. Finish is espresso. This is an elite imperial stout.
4.0 Bottle from Beerdome. Hard roasted aroma with chocolate, dark chocolate, syrup, coffee, some alcohol, and liquorice. Flavour is sticky sweet and quite bitter. Full bodied. Boozy and sweet with syrupy notes, roasty with chocolate, good one.
