3.9 On tap at Muted Horn Berlin. Cones with a dark brown color and a tiny muddy head. The nose is gingerbread, cinnamon, spicy herbs, malts. Taste of sweet gingerbread cookies, speculoos, honey and cinammon. Its like Xmast.
4.0 @ Budapest. Ruby/amber, clear, no bubbles. nose is a gingerbread cookie. Thin/med body and moderately fizzy. lots of ginger, a nutty and burnt chocolate malt is a bit too burnt. nutty finish. decent. aroma is better than flavor. >>> Beeroda.hu - Beer tasting sessions @ Budapest, Hungary. <<< Facebook: www.facebook.com/beeroda
3.7 Draft 0.25l at BeerTemple Amsterdam, The Netherlands. 02.02.2017. Taste with kermis. Pour it brown color with small brown head. Aroma ginger bread cookies. Taste like ginger bread cookies, speculoos, sweet honey, little bit of clove, some more spices on the back, cereal, medium to heavy cloying sweetness, medium body, creamy, average carbonation, long finish, interesting.
3.9 660 ml bottle shared at home. Dark brown with a small off-white head. Medium to full body with low to moderate carbonation. Spicy bitterness with subtle sweet tones. Caramel, spices, herbs, ripe dark fruits and hops. Nice winter brew.
1.6 From tap at BeerTemple, Amsterdam. Aroma is an explosion of spices, huge unpleasant cinnamon, nutmeg, christmas cake, sugar, sweet malt and caramel. Flavour is quite annoyingly sweet and cloying. Body is medium. Way too heavy on the cinnamon for my taste, almost sickening. I still love Hoppin’ Frog, but this beer...
3.2 Bottle 0,65. Pours hazy redish with small off-whitehead head, nice lacing. Aroma of spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, malts. Sweet taste with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar. Medium body and soft carbonation.
3.6 Draft at Beer Temple. Hazy brown with a thick cream head. Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger cookies, malt, caramel and cloves. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
3.3 From Mikkeller Shop. In Teku glass. Bomber. Playing A Golden Wake. Very spiced, reallt christmasty. Pumpkin notes and maybe some ginger. Zesty. In the long run it becones a bit tiresome.
3.6 On Tap @Señor Lúpulo. Despacho de cervezas, Gijón 11/01/2017. Color marrón oscuro aromas especiados sabor dulce especiado, canela. cuerpo medio.
3.9 1pt 6fl oz shared bottle at home from FirmaBier. Nose is acetone, alcohol, dried fruits, cinnamon, cloves. Body is opalescent deep ruby brown, head is medium, offwhite, frothy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is cinnamon, cloves, old wood, milk chocolate, ginger bread. Medium sweet, medium bitter, light fruity sour. Finish is medium lasting roasty fruity medium bittersweet, light alcohol warmth. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft carbonation. Easy dessert beer, real christmas biscuits spices, nice one.
4.6 [Tasting glass draft @ Billie’s Bier Kafetaria] Dark brown amber, small tanned head. Nose is cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, Christmas cake, brown sugar, more spices, pumpkin spices, candy, sugar, more cloves, caramel sweet, amazing if you are really into these spices. Taste is extremely massive on cloves followed by nutmeg, Christmas cake, pumpkin spices, sugar, caramel, toffee, more cloves, cinnamon, sugar, candy, brown sugar, very faintly metallic. Amazing, reminiscent of a pumpkin spices beer in a way with the massive spices. Body is a bit too thin & fizzy keeping it from greatness for me. For sure a fan of this one. I may need the BA version of this one.
3.8 Miedziane, metne. Piana wysoka drobnopecherxykoea trwala. Cynamon cynamon cynamon.... gozdzik i inne przyprawy. Slodko. Wysycenie niskie. Dosc pelne.
2.0 Rami Rami is drinking a Frosted Frog Christmas Ale by Hoppin’ Frog Brewery at JabeerwockyFuuuuj, sam cynamon czy jak to badziewie sie nazywa. W tle jakis jakby brown ale... Nie moj Rami Rami: Gozdzik tez. I ten syf z suszu. Rami Rami: I imbir. No generalnie przyprawy. Brrr. 3.4 From tap at Taphouse. Dark amber colour with an off-white head. Aroma and flavour of malt, spice, caramel, dried fruit, sweetness and coriander.
3.6 Bottle. Teku. Deep amber/almost reddish with small, lightly reddish head. Poor head retention and lacing. Aroma is really nice, christmas with lots of cinnamon. First of all dark fruits, along with nutmeg, nicely balanced with caramel and brown sugar notes. Very nice spices with domination of cinnamon and some ginger, also some chewing gum-like aromas. The taste is semi-dry, not so perfume as you would expect from the nose, rather constant the the degustation. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation, finish is spicy and semi-dry, the palate is not the best side of this beer. In general this is Christmas beers, what I like here the most is very good balance between all the flavors and aromas. There is a lot of cinnamon, which I’m really fond of. Highly drinkable with well ABV hidden.
4.0 Barwa miedziana, piwo klarowne - pierwsze piwo naprawdę fajnie wyglądające. Aromat to świąteczna bomba!
Piernik, przyprawy używane do piernika...Gałka, imbir, goździk! Intensywnie, nie za słodko, idealnie zbalansowane. Super, po prostu super!
3.8 A beautiful, dark red beer, a head is quite small and beige. Aroma has huge amount of spices, cinnamon, ginger, pomerans, cardemum, also berries of red currants and richness of red wine. All these complex aromas are nicely balanced and pleasant. Taste has strong spicyness, but not so dominantly as in the aroma. Cinnamon, cardemum, ginger, fruitness, some cherries and roastiness. Surprisingly light, only medium bodied. Balanced even the huge amount of spices, the nice beer also in the middle of Summer as today.
3.9 Deep dark amber coloured body with a nice thick, four centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of spices, herbs, grain, alcohol, malt and a lot of deep pitted fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong malty flavours at first with bunches of spices showing allspice, coriander seed, nutmeg, canella and even some cloves. Aftertaste shows a robust complexity with malt, brown sugars, some grain, yeast, pit fruits and toffee all around - very nice. Overall, a very good complex spice-based beer with a lot of malt, alcohol and sweetness around! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased at Whole Foods in New York (Bowery), New York on 27-May-2016 for US$9,99 sampled at my hotel in Lower Manhattan on 27-May-2016 a few minutes later. Rating for this Sample: 8,4,8,4,16 Rating #2: Deep, fairly hazy brown and amber coloured body with a thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that shows nicely and stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of very spicey, nutmeg, canella, allspice and caramelised sugars with some molasses and a nice balance of rich toasted malts with some oaky dryness noticeable and a good hit of alcohol here as well - but fairly spicey in a good way in the nose. Medium-bodied; Strong rich malt notes show at first with a lot of alcohol and depth and a nice spiciness which persists throughout, really showing the canella and allspice, but some toffee and anise does come through near the tail end. Aftertaste is rich, robust and very sweet, with the caramelised sugars, molasses and brown sugar elements the strongest, but some nuttiness is noticeable at the end with a mild almond-like bite. Overall, a nice brown ale with good spices, but not overwhelming and a rich sweetness, but again, not cloying. Great to sample and well worth trying to find and enjoy around Christmas or like me - right in the middle of the year to remind yourself how great Christmas really is! I sampled this 65 cL bottle, purchased from K-1 Beer and Wine in Arlington, Virginia on 03-February-2018 for US$5,99 sampled about two and a half years later on 19-June-2021, at my house here in Washington on 19-June-2021 for a Father's Day celebration with my family. Rating for this Sample: 9,3,8,4,15
4.1 Bottle at home. Pours deep ruby brown, nose is pumpkin pie, gingerbread, vanilla, cinnamon, taste is similar, sweet and fruity, really tasty.
5.0 A lovely way to ring in the new year!! Happy New Year everybody! This was an enjoyable experience!!
3.6 Tap@Banksia, Copenhagen - pours brown with a beige head. Aroma and taste comprises malty cake like Christmas pudding prominence, caramel and treacle, dark dried fruit, nice showcase of winter Christmas spices, some brown sugar, great stuff.
2.9 Stark gewürziger Antrunk von sämtlichen Weihnachtsgewürzen, trocken. Gewöhnungsbedürftig, ab dem 3. Schluck erheblich angenehmer, hefig, süffig. Zimt, Nelke, geringe Süße. Mild herb, nett. 10/8/9/8/11/8
3.2 Dunkel orange braunes Bier mit einer geringen beigen Schaumkrone. Geruch nach ginger, Zimt, dunkles malz. Geschmack nach Zimt, Ingwer, spekulatius.
4.0 Smells like liquid Christmas, tastes like liquid gingerbread, and looks like a brown ale. Superb.
3.6 On tap at The Wine Bar Destin. Pours a cloudy copper brown with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is cinnamon, nutmeg, chocolate. Thin mouthfeel with strong spices, cinnamon, caramel, rich malt, hides alcohol well, very good.
3.4 Bottle received from Erica and Chris at Christmas. Pours a copper brown with small dissipating head and no lace. Aroma is a lot of nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Taste is much the same as the aroma. It is like eating gingerbread. A little hop bitterness balances it out. The malt hides the alcohol well. Very warming though.
3.6 Bottle split at Pedro leaving drinks, thanks to LKS, 24/04/15. Lightly hazed amber with a decent beige cap that dissipates edge ward. Nose is fruit cake, spice, rich malt, herbal tones, toffee, brown sugar, pumpkin. Taste comprises rich fruit cake mix, dates, clove, icing sugar, toasted sugar, winter cheer. Medium body with bite, fine carbonation, drying close. Xolid flavoursome affair for the style.
3.7 Bottle shared at CBC Clerkenwell during the Peter’s leaving do. Picked up at CPK about four years ago. Pours clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Despite the beer’s age, the aroma is outrageously pungent, with lots of Christmas fruitcake, candied fruits, cinnamon, stewed apples. Medium sweet flavor with some rich fruitcake, bread, toasted grains, ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, some booze. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Lightly warming finish, a little sticky sweet, with buckets of wintery spices, fruitcake, ripe berries, some toffee. Rich. Very tasty for a spiced winter beer.
