Hoppin' Frog Hopped-Up Goose Juice Rye IPA

Hoppin' Frog Hopped-Up Goose Juice Rye IPA

American hops dominate this Rye IPA, creating an assertive citrus and passion fruit character. An old-world flavor from rye malt adds the perfect compliment to Goose Juice’s big, satisfying hop flavor and aroma. Originally home-brewed by our beloved brewer Goose, its wonderful combination of flavors inspired us to brew this specialty IPA.

3.4 On tap. Amber color with one finger head. Rye and citrus aroma. Big citrus flavor that goes down easy.
3.9 A nice orange colour, a head is quite big and blond. Aroma has strong tropical fruitness, pineapple, mandarin, fruit candies, fructose. Rich with a fruit meat. Taste has tropical fruitness, grapefruits, good maltyness, some herbal like spicyness, maybe the origin is the used rye. A bitterness is slightly slow but then nice, medium and long lasting. Medium+ bodied, quite smooth. Very nice aroma, taste has also maltyness, balanced and succesfully.
Aromat to bomba owocowa: dużo słodkich cytrusów, melona i nuty tropikalne.
3.5 sample, poured a deep orange to light amber colour with a white head. nose of sweeter malts, orange, herbal soap hops, grass, and citrus notes. taste has a slight spiced rye notice, rather sweet finish
3.5 Bottle from Beergium. A bit hazy light amber with a large head. A bit on the sweet side with hops, citrus, light resin, malt. The body was medium and the finish bitter.
3.7 Bomber. Cotteridge, Brum. Amber, with a soft haze. Thin, dense, sticky, off white head. Nose has soft, sweet, spicy malts. Old, ripened orange. Some minty herb. Some floral herb. Hint of pine resin. Taste has plenty of spicy bitterness. Some lip coating, sugary sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel. Medium body. Gets juicy and chewy toward the end. Long, bitter finish.
3.7 Pours a nice orangish color. Aroma is grassy hops. Flavor of a classic pale, big grassy hop flavor.
3.2 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark caramel color with a large creamy-soapy orange-white head that lingered and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was sweet caramel, pine, rye and tropical fruit. The flavor was sweet caramel, pine, tropical fruit and tobacco. Long finish. Moderately full bodied. Ok.
3.7 Bottle, another train beer. Would imagine golden pour with some white head. Herbal, grassy, some eye and citrus hop aromas. Flavors come off grassy and citrus, rye malt presence.
4.0 Bottle. Pours cloudy orange with big white head and lacing. Nose and taste is tropical fruit. Taste also has some sweetness.
2.7 Pours an oily, mildly cloudy golden with a fat, bumpy, long-lasting, antique white head. Nothing extraordinary about the nose. A little malty, a little hoppy. Oily and thicker with good carbonation. Pretty disappointing given its overall rating. Green banana, sweet malt, gets drier toward the finish. Pretty big disappointment.
3.8 Bomber from giant eagle. Pours a clear red copper color with a small white head. A big sweet malty fruity nose. The flavor is big sweet resin, oranges, tea, dusty sweet rye. Light bitterness. Solid.
3.8 From tap. Light hazy orange color with almost white head. Hoppy and malty aroma, citrusy fruity, tropical fruits, pine, caramel. Sweet and bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
3.5 650 mL bottle. Coppery with some suspended ueast and a small white head. Mild aroma has a little citrus and a little resin. The flavour is much the same, with the rye being surprisingly restrained. Soft but effective bitterness.
3.6 On tap at the brewery. Pours hazy orange with a foamy beige head. Aroma is of rye, hops, citrus, and tropical fruit. Taste is of hops, citrus, and some tropical fruit. Has a rye flavor underneath the hops. Bready malt backbone. Lingering dry, bready taste. Had a nice bitter hop burn to it. Mouthfeel is very carbonated and light. Drinks really easy. I like it quite a bit.
3.5 Smell of hops, a faint of rye malt. Red amber colour, massive beige/orange head. Aroma of alcohol (much stronger than expected for 7 ABV), hops. Not so much rye to be noted, although suitably bitter. A faint sweetness due to alcohol. Some citrus to be noted. Soft and plentiful carbon,
3.9 passion fruit, grapefruit, pine and buttery caramel aromas from an amber gold body big frothy white head, rather sweet and smooth with all the flavours of fruit in the finish, very nice.
3.8 Bottle Aroma-fruits Appearance-amber, hazy, white foam, Taste-medium sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, Palate-medium body, creamy, lively, bitter finish Overall-very good
3.6 (650ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, Jan 23 2015) Pours a very hazy dark brownish orange with a moderate white head. Aroma has lots of spicy rye and a bit of grain as well as caramel sweetness, a bit of grassy notes and some wisps of passion fruit, grapefruit and other tropical fruit. On the palate, rye and caramel lead as well, pine needles, grass, floral, grapefruit. Moderate bitterness holds rye, citrus pith and light pine in the finish. Medium full, sort of thick in the mouth. Frankly this bottle did not drink like it was particularly fresh, so while I quite like the rye character, it lacked the strength in the hops to match it. If fresher, I think I might like it more.
3.7 Bottle. Pours hazy copper with creamy off-white head and lace. Aroma is rye, malt, light caramel, grassy and floral hops, light pineapple and light lemon. Flavor is a good balance of fresh hops, rye dryness, lightly toasted malts, and citrus bitterness. Dry finish with a touch of bitterness and sweetness lingering. Medium body and carbonation. Thanks to Erica and Chris for giving me this as a Christmas present.
3.8 Ezek a rozs ipák igen megosztóak szoktak lenni. Egyébként igen szép a kinézete, főleg a szinte elpusztíthatatlan habja.
3.9 (Hoppin Frog Hopped-Up Goose Juice Rye IPA) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a teku. ABV 7% Deep copper orange colour on the body, clear, with a big and thick off-white head on top. Very good retention, the foam collapses slowly and leaves medium lacing on the glass. Very nice aroma, very fruity, fresh cut grass, rye, light passion fruit. Nice taste too, again rye, grass, lots of fruits, light pine notes. More sweet than your average IPA but there is a good enough bitterness on the aftertaste, with satisfying duration. Medium bodied, good carbonation. Very good.
3.7 So Draught 55 a bar i frequent has a once a month baby brunch in back room so took wife and sone for food, kids music, and I had some brew perfect. This is hazy orange pour nose of tropical fruit and rye. Tastes of rye, perfume, pine, grapefruit, dusty hops, light caramel, and honey. Decent mouthfeel tasty brew but lacks some punch of excitement.
3.7 22 oz bottle First beer of Christmas 2014. It is a good one. I shared with my son. The IPA poured a cloudy amber color with frothy off white head and lacing. You detect citrus and pine in the aroma. The ale had a medium body and average carbonation. I did notice the rye at the finish. The pine resin does provide a dry clean finish. This is a great way to start the 12 beers of Christmas 2014.
3.9 Big bottle, served in teku. Pours deep orange, amber, a little bit hazy with large and thick head. Aroma is predominantly citrus, grapefruit, some maltiness, a hint of rye. Its much more intensive after shaking a glass. Taste is really sweet in the beginning and then mildly bitter, its perfectly balanced, however, a little bit harsh hoppiness in the finish, but its not too disturbing. It gives you a very pleasant mouthfeel, perfectly carbonated. Low drinkability though, seems quite heavy. Nevertheless, its a great IPA from great brewery. Worth every single penny.
