4.9 An amazing beer. Strong, balanced hops, nice color, a perfect American IPA.
3.4 Pours deep copper, almost red. Thick, creamy off-white head. Big, hoppy nose along with grapefruit, caramel malt and loads of resin. Taste is piney hops, cut some by the maltiness, but finishes overly dry. Mouthfeel is scorched-earth dry; super-bitter, with lingering heat from the alcohol. It’s not bad, but 22 oz of this will be tough to put away.
3.7 Bottle from Kihoskh, Copenhagen - pours orange amber with a white head. Aroma and taste is sweet fruity and malty, prominent big malty backbone, caramel and toffee sweetness is evident, some grapefruit, tangerine, citrus peel, hop resin, pine needles, sweet to bitter finish.
4.0 Bottle, 66cl. This i recall as one of my best IIPA experiences before rating. One month old, this one. Pours a dark, reddish, clear amber with a medium sized, off white head. Really a handsome IIPA! Aroma has lots of caramel malts, toasted malts, in general a very powerfull but still nice malt profile. Lots of hops, slight pine and slight earth. Taste has a big caramel sweetness, some almost roasted bitter toast and a hoppy, bitter finish. Not very fruity, but still really good. Pretty sticky body and a fairly low carbonation. Didn’t live up to my memory, but maybe would have done better completely fresh. Then again - good one!
3.7 Bottle. Hazy dark reddish pour with tan head. Aroma has brown sugar, burnt malt and feels strong. Taste has a lot of sweetness and this seems to take the focus almost completely off the hops. Lots of caramel. Very sweet
4.0 From old notes. 650ml bottle at home. Hazy orange color with off white head. Heavy hoppy and caramel malty aroma, citrusy fruity, grapefruit, pine. Sweet and heavy bitter taste like aroma. Medium oily body with soft carbonation
3.4 22oz bottle. Pours amber with a big tan head. Aroma is of hops pine, caramel, and earth. Taste is of earthy hops, pine, and floral notes. Has a caramel malt back bone. Lingering sweet hop taste. Mouthfeel is light and sticky. Body is light, and it drinks very easy. Very slight alcohol bite. It’s not overly hoppy, so it goes down very easy. Good.
3.6 24.1.2014. Tuoksu hieman tunkkainen mutta hedelmäinen. Maku täyteläinen, hieman sitruksinen, humalainen.
3.5 Dry earthy bitter finish that leans away from citrus toward pine and bitterness. Big and boozy. Didn’t like this as much as Gangster Frog.
4.1 Bottle at home. Pours hazy copper amber, nose is tropical fruit, orange, taste is fruity, juicy, tasty.
3.5 Deep amber with a tan head. Hints of grapefruit and caramel. Very hoppy with a bitterness that lasts through the finish. Almost a strong ale in flavor.
2.7 Aromas of pine and citrus pours a deep amber almost orange. Thin white head that disappears quickly. Nice malt back bone but he hop flavors are off. Not balanced. You get some of the bitterness from the malt , tastes toasty almost a burnt malt after taste.
3.0 Why is this beer so expensive? What does HF put in their beer to make it worth $10 a bomber. Taste has age and malt that shouldn’t be in an iipa. Not terrible or sour, just way overpriced.
4.6 Rhoooo! On dirait du "Miel IPA", en tout cas c’est ce qui décrit le mieux cette bière. La Nez sent plus le miel, le biscuit et le vin rouge que la bière. La bouche est caramel, miel avec une amerume agréable. Une très bonne bière!!
2.8 Ample bitterness but too much malt and booze for my tastes. More barleywine like than iipa, except for the very very strong bitter aftertaste. Lacking the florals or citrus or pine that a good ipa has to have. I don’t mind balance, but this was too heavy. Tasted and smells like an older ipa, but it was just released to the area..."
4.7 I would not say that this is a balanced beer but a beer of opposites that work very well together. Poured with a huge fluffy sudsy cream-colored head plenty of lace and a clear dark honey amber color. Aroma is Malt, some resiny hops and a touch of citrus. Flavor has lots of malt sweetness, a lot of bitterness and enough carbonic tang to set it off. Body is excellent. Super drinking beer.
3.6 Bomber shared. This is an old bottle very old. True representation will be difficult. I am sure it pours a medium orange color with a white head. I am sure the hop flavor is very good but this old bottle has carmalized still good but not what you expecting.
3.7 Bottle. Hazy light amber colour. The aroma has notes of caramel, citrus and pine. The taste sweet malt, pine and grapefruit. Very balanced sweetness/hoppiness/alcohol presence. Nice drinkable double IPA.
3.8 This is a pretty average double IPA. I actually like the single IPA, the Hoppin to Heaven, better than this one. There is just nothing special about this beer that blows me away. It pours an amber color with a small off-white head. There is plenty of lacing left around the glass. There isn’t much in the aroma; only some subtle hints of light hops and a hint of caramel malt. The body strength and mouthfeel are both about average. The flavors are kind of bland for a double IPA. There’s certainly hops here, but just not enough that knocks me off my chair. The flavors are nicely balanced, with delicious notes of grapefruit, oranges, toasted malt, caramel, alcohol and some floral, grassy notes. The beer finishes nicely, with a dry, bitter and floral flavor of hops.
4.0 Bottle - Woody, pine and earthy hops, with a big malty backbone. Clear dark amber with a thin white head. More like an American Barleywine with big malty caramel and a bitter hoppy finish. Earthy and woody, very nice.
3.8 Backlog. Dominated by caramel and tropical fruits, grape, citrus, mango and pineapple.
3.5 Bottle from Capones. About 3 years old so a completely different experience from when I had it fresh - poured it carefully to keep the dead yeast and sediment in the bottle. Apricot, fig, still piny with some citrus, mild carbonation and full body, sweet with a nice bitterness underneath, but definitely past its prime.
4.0 Pours more amber than gold for this IIPA. Lots of pine and citrus on the nose. Grapefruit, lemon, and a little orage on the palate, with some piney grass as well. Finishes with some caramel malt.
3.6 Bottle from the brewery in Akron. A solid IIPA. The Pour is dark amber that lends itself to the intense spicy hops and malty backbone. This is a very different IIPA. Although the finish is full of hop bitterness, there is a lot of caramel malts present throughout. Spicy, malty and lots of bitter, piney hops.
4.0 Ins Glas ergießt sich ein orangegoldenes Bier mit geringer aber schönen Schaumkrone. Geruch sehr malzig herb, fruchtig, tropische Früchte. Geschmack stark malzig bitter, fruchtig herb, minimal würzig.
3.9 Pours a really nice red copper color with little white head and no real lacing. Aroma of mental and citrus hops. Tastes like it smells. A good beer
4.2 Bottle - amber coloured with a slim off-white head. impressive citrus hoppy, malty, sweet aroma. Nice complex and well balanced mix of flavours, citrus hops, malts, dark fruit. Full bodied, creamy mouthfeel, Very good double.
