Hornbeer Caribbean Rumstout

Hornbeer Caribbean Rumstout

English: We have brewed on this beer on a long time and we finally think it is a should. A very majestic stout with a hint of roasted barley malt, smoke malt, coffee, some spices and to top it all a drop of rum. The beer has been seasoned on oak wood. This beer can stored many years in a dark closet or cellar, but is also ready to drink when it leaves our brewery. Buy an extra bottle and stash it for a special occasion in some years. It will develop like a god wine- only get better and better by the years.

3.9 Tap@brewdog Helsinki. Opaque black color with tanned head. Aroma has caramel, dark fruits, rum, coffee. Taste is malty sweet with long sweet aftertaste. Flavors of caramel, rum, dark fruits, chocolate and coffee.
4.0 svart, kaffe, lakris, fat, fyldig..............................................
4.1 Black, with no real head to speak of. A strong note of espresso rises from the glass, along with some plum and an unsurprising whiff of pure alcohol. Rum? Well, it's there - just about - especially if you search for it. On the tongue, you have a bitter-sweet syrup (very nicely balanced) that finishes off with more coffee, a mercifully tiny and tasteful hint of liquorice... and some smoke! Where does that come from? Surprisingly complex for such an intense beer. But is it worth the premium price - almost twice what I pay for a Samuel Smiths Imperial here in Germany? I'm reluctant to answer that one, even though I can think of cheaper stouts I rate even more highly. I might try ageing a bottle as per the brewer's recommendations.
2.8 Bottle. Impenetrable black color with brown head. Very dark malts in the nose, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Mild sweetness at first, finish strong and bitter. Full mouthfeel, but not that oily. Low carbonation.
4.0 see my comment on Black Magic Woman but far away you can detect rum barrel which cause some sweetness. Heavenly.
3.6 Tap. Shared with Riveiro and Esgueva on the 10/05/2018 at "Lord Nelson", Copenhagen. Black colour with a medium tan creamy head. Aroma is dark chocolate, oak bourbon barrels, liqorice, tobacco and dried dark fruits. Taste is strong on the coffee and bourbon side with presence of liquorice and dark fruits on the finish. Next one please!
3.8 Bottle from De Bierverteller, Utrecht. Aroma is roasted malt with coffee, ash, tobacco, touch of dried dark fruits, berries, caramel, burnt wood, some dark chocolate. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a medium roasty bitterness. Body is above medium. Rum? Fuller body would have been nice, aroma is very fine though. Good.
3.2 Bottle share with Brian. In a word, decent spice in finish. The rest, some smoke and coffee, and way too woody. So-so drinkability. Dry.
3.5 Bottle shared at a tasting at Tom L's place. Black, tan head. Smokiness, coffee, roast, tobacco, dark fruits, caramel, licorice, a bit of rum, sweetish, a bit of alcohol, bitter finish.
3.4 At Tom's Place, pours black with a beige head, aroma of chocolate, burnt wood, caramel, salty, flavor is bitter with orange, chocolate, caramel, coffee, wood, medium bodied
4.1 gorzka czekolada, lekko palone, rum wyczuwalny i dobrze ukryty alkohol, do powolnej degustacji
Krągła do tęgiej pełnia, umiarkowane do wysokiego wysycenie i wytrawny finisz z alkoholem rozgrzewającym przełyk. Niezłe, ale na dłuższą metę trochę męczące.
3.9 A nice, clear coca cola-colored beer with minimal brown foam. Sweet nose with fruity aromas of coconuts, chokolate, lingonberries and coffee. Sweet flavor with mild bitter flavors and a little bit of tannins on the finish. Low carbonation and surprisingly rich palate with minimal alcohol burn. Incredibly well made beer with well hidden alcohol but it does feel a bit one-dimensional.
Sztos
3.6 Coffee and Caramel Aroma and Taste; also has a treacle...smooth beer with no taste of the 10% alc; if there is it's very subtle.
4.3 On bottle. Pours black. A really creamy beer, with a small scent of smoke. Lots of chocolate, and a bit alcoholic (the rum obviously). This is by far the best beer, Hornbeer has made.
3.8 Bottle. Pitch black beer with small beige head. Aroma of peat, roasted malts, molasses, coffee and some chocolate. Taste is medium sweet and bitter, peat, coffee, roasty, notes of molasses, chocolate, rum. Burnt, roasted coffee finish. Medium to full body, oily texture, soft to average carbonation. Very good and complex imperial stout.
3.4 Rich body, powerfull, and full of taste. Great volumen. Coffee, slightly smoked and good spiced.
3.9 Pours oily black, small brown head that disappeared right after pouring. No lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and oak. Tastes grassy bitter, very complex with strong roasted barley, oak, rum, chocolate and coffee, alcohol is very well masked. Feels oily, full bodied and without carbonation, quite easy to drink but with a strong aged rum after taste. Good stout!
3.4 Sampled at LIBF 2017. Thnx for sharing, everyone ! Pours black, no real head. Smell is rubber, roast, mild smoke. Taste is full, rubber, some roast. mild booze. Not a fan.
4.1 Du?o rumu, kawa, leciutki sos sojowy, czekolada, wi?nia. S?odko, umiarkowana palono??. Bardzo dobry ris
4.0 Bottle thanks to Mick. Pours a jet black color with a medium tan head. A big heavy rum and roast nose. Lovely flavor, more intense hot rum, dark fruit, ash, not on the big fruity side, very malty. Hot. Spicy. Nice beer.
3.9 Pours black no head. Aroma is sweet, lots of spices, cardimomme. Taste hoppy, burnt, coffee.
4.2 5/VI/17 - sample from 50cl bottle @ LIBF 2017 (Leuven) - BB: n/a (2017-764) Thanks to the Belgian RB crew for sharing today’s beers! Clear dark brown beer, small creamy beige head, unstable, bit adhesive. Aroma: lots of coffee, roasted, dusty. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very roasted, coffee, bitter touch, alcohol, caramel, some chocolate. Aftertaste: bitter, hoppy, bit metallic, alcohol, sweet sugary, decent stuff, alcohol, some coconut.
2.7 Draft at Tap10 aroma of wood, coffee, alcohol, malt. Taste of wood, malt, caramel, cardboard, tree syrup, barch.
4.6 Piwo wypite jakiś czas temu. Ocena wystawiona na podstawie wspomnień z degustacji, w ramach uzupełnienia profilu.
3.5 LIBF2017. Kolor czarny, od góry płyn zamyka jasno brązowa, wysoka piana. Jest dość trwała, zbudowana z drobnych pęcherzyków. Aromat raczej mało intensywny. Palony z nutami kawy. Nasycenie niskie
3.6 Sample at LIBF’17. Aroma of sausage, burning alcohol, smoked malt, alcohol. Pours black with a brown thick head, lasting. (I give this a 5 because it was the only of 10 I tasted at LIBF with a head lasting this long! Nice) Taste is milkchocolate, milk, bitter, sweet. Finish is a boozy, a bit burning.
