Hornbeer IPA

Hornbeer IPA

3.1 500 ml bottle shared with czar, thanks mate. Pours an orangeish brown with a resilient beige head. Aroma is hops and citrus. Flavor is coffee, hazelnut, roasted malt. A dry finish, not as bitter as I would have expected, a touch of coffee, a touch of citrus. Medium body, average carbonation. Sadly lacking in bitterness for an IPA, but would make for a very alright american-style brown ale, though.
3.3 Bottle. Hazy amber liquid with medium white head. Aroma of red berries, citrus, grapefruit, marmalade, tangerine, biscuit and light butter. Taste is light sweet and medium bitter with notes of red berries, caramel, citrus and biscuit. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Ok, but too sweet.
2.8 pours clear medium dark brown with a nice light beige head, good retention and lacing - surprisingly dark.. blind folded - i would guess a light bipa... anyhow, the brew is relatively roasted, some burnt caramels, fruity, resin-plenty, some minerals and plenty of yeast. average to soft carbonation, light body - watery, short but present grassy-spicy finish. more aromatic than bitter. decently done, aside its darker side. o-k.
3.3 Pours dark amber colour with frotty beige head. Carbonation is fairly low. Aroma is very hoppy, fruity. Taste is bitter from the hops, grapefruit, sweetness, alcohol. Dry finish, medium body.
4.3 Strong performance very deep taste and syrapy aroma. Flavourful, almost too much. Might need some food to accompany
3.8 Buona ipa, forse un pò troppo amara ma davvero piacevole!
3.7 50 cl bottle. Originally rated on 20101112. Pours copper color with a medium head. Aroma of fruits, hops, grass and mild pale malts. Flavor of resiny hops, fruits, hay and caramel. Nice.
2.0 50 cl bottle, Dark Amber color, Chocolate and coffee flavour, off white head, long taste
3.4 Flaske, god IPA flot luftig skum, tør bitter eftersmag, købt i Salling Aalborg Free Føroyar!!!
3.6 500ml bottle from IPB.. Appearance : Amber with small head. Aroma : Resinous and piny hops with caramel. Nice woody notes. Light overcooked caramel notes. Toffee. Nice balance between malt and hops even if I’m not a big fan of caramel malt in IPAs. Taste : Piny and resinous hops with caramel. Light alcohol. Finish quite resinous and piny with caramel. Persistent resinous notes. Slightly oily. Overall : Not bad. Caramel malt is quite present but it’s rather well integrated with the hops. This could almost be a light Barley Wine or something like that. Tasty but not exactly what I’m looking for.
3.5 500ml bottle, dark amber-copper color, with a bubbly beige head, nice floral, fruity mango, lemon, grapefruit, citrus hop nose, with a mild toasted, caramel malty note within a leafy, grassy, faint sappy accent in the aroma follows through on a yeasty, toasted, caramel, biscuity malt, light cookie dough, good flowery leafy, grassy, piney, citrus hop character, with some light candied lime, lemon, grapefruit peel, piney bittering flavours, leading towards a soft maltiness, cofiferous, leafy, grassy, citrus hop bitterness finish.
(Rating #4344)
3.4 Bottled. Dark amber, rather cloudy. Lively and very frothy head is lacy and has slight tan. Very fresh, piney and citrusy hop aroma with some earthy/wet leafy and berryish yeast notes. Slight dark caramel aroma and slight toasted wood notes. In the flavor bitterness turns into more herbal than resiny direction, and its strangely mineral and soapy. It is dry with only a hint of caramel, but it also lacks malty depth. Light tuo medium body, frothy but chalcky slick/soapy, resiny finish. Aroma is great, but the rest is somehow artificial.
3.1 Bottle courtesy of Jay during Dadtoberfest 2012. Pours a hazy amber body with white lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, fruit and toast. Mouthfeel is medium with caramel malts, bread, toasted malts, light citric hops and mild fruit. Not sure if freshness was an issue here, but would like to try again.
3.0 Bottle at Dadtoberfest. Amber with an off white head. Toffee malts, and faint herbal and floral hops. I’m sure this one has seen better days.
3.3 Bottle that I took to Dadtoberfest, bottle originally courtesy of Dany. Pours a hazed amber brown with a thin white head. Soft musk and a touch of oxidized malt, plum. Medium bodied, soft malt, toast, a touch of bitterness. Long old malt, faint hops, decent enough, but nothing amazing.
3.8 ambrato carico buona schiuma media persisistenza agrumata resisnosa secca ben amara leggero fruttato leggero caramello
3.5 500ml bottle. Courtesy of Papsoe. Some sweet and herbal aromas. Pours dark gold, almost clear, with thin white head, some persistance and lacing. Medium body, soft carbonation. Taste is somehow sweet, low abv, with a nice balance of bittering. Aftertaste is mild bitter. Quite enjoyable.
3.3 Bottle 500ml @ Patricks Pub og Restaurant, Kristiansand Pours cloudy deep amber with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel, citrus and grape. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long sweet, caramel finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.
3.9 Bottle at home. Aroma lots of hops, citrus, earth. Light hazy brown color Sweet malt taste, hops citrus, vanilla nice bitter aftertaste. Nice smoth IPA!
3.4 In short: A yeasty, caramelized and resinous IPA with an assertive bitterness. Good How: Bottle 500ml, consumed when 2.5 years before expiration date!!! (those European IPAs sure have a long shelf-life!) The look: Very cloudy rusty-amber body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention In long: The hoppy nose is very resinous, just smelling it you can already feel the beer sticking to your tongue. Taste has fluffy caramel swimming in a dense bowl of yeast soup. Pine sap and fresh fruits. Assertive bitterness level is in the medium+ range and has a very resinous character. Mouthfeel is dense and foamy with a lively carbonation. I’m not a big fan of those muddy yeasty IPAs (typically from Europe) but this one was pleasant even if far from a refreshing beer. Not a great beer but I could a dozen of them anyway, I always want to drink more beer, never seem to have enough, so I finally decided to call the alcoholics helpline only to discover that those bastards don’t even deliver.
3.5 Draught @ Gastropub Nordic. Rated on 12.11.2010 Aroma is somewhat hoppy with some exotic fruits, resin and caramel. Flavour has hops, caramel, some berries typical to danish ales and fruits. Too low on hops and too high on berries.
3.8 Bottle 500ml. Pours dark golden/amber wth nice head. Some lacing. Aroma is of mango, other fruits, pine. Taste is of mango, pine, fruits. Overall: Very fresh feeling. Biteer finish. Full bodeid. Pretty good.
3.8 Bottle 500 ml. Thanks to SlovakSniper! Clear amber color with a medium off-white head and fair lacing. Aroma of malt, resinous (pine, spruce) and citrus (mango and grapefruit). Taste is resinous and citrus with an average malty presence. Medium bitterness. Mouthfeel is creamy. Medium to full body. Well balanced bitterness.
3.1 Caramel, bread, coffee, cereal, resin, floral, coffee, nuts, cheese, earthy, earthy, barnyard, basement aromas, alcohol, basement aromas, clove
4.0 Bottle. Amber hazy. Two finger foam. Plenty of grapefruit pine aromas. Dry bitter with some faint sweetness. Medium finish. I recommed this brew especially for its balance; high bitterness too the sweet caramel.
3.4 From bottle at Ølfestival 2012. Hazy amber with a small head. Hoppy aroma and taste. Not extremely bitter with a dry finish. Not bad but there are tastier India Pale Ales.
3.7 Draught at Cockney Pub, Aarhus. A hazy amber color with half a finger layer of creamy off white head. Aroma us sweet malty, floral and citrusy hoppy, orange, citrus, grapefruit, spring flowers. Bittersweet in the mouth, light caramel, a little toast, dry  light heavy bitter finish with mostly citrusy notes. Medium body, oily texture, well made if not exceptional IPA. 7 3 8 4 15
3.8 Bottle: Poured a nice amber color ale with a nice large foamy head with excellent retention and some good lacing. Aroma of citrus and pine hoppy notes is quite enticing with some sweet caramelized malt notes also noticeable. Taste is a solid mix between some hoppy notes with some citrus and light resinous notes which are well balanced by some caramelized malt notes with medium sweetness level. Body is quite full with good carbonation. Solid IPA with nice floral hoppy notes and balanced bitterness.
