Hornbeer The Fundamental Blackhorn

Hornbeer The Fundamental Blackhorn

Men døm selv.

4.7 Wow, this On my way! Tickles all the tastebuds, even the ones you didn’t know you had. Black as... whatever. Brilliant beer. Top 5.
3.6 Veel gist in de fles, erg gebrand bitter. Ruik niet zoveel meer, veel chocola schijnt .
3.5 Wersja 3-letnia bodajże. W aromacie likier czekoladowy, gorzka czekolada, kakao, nawet trochę owoców kandryzowanych wpada. W smaku słodkawe, gładkie, owocowe, bardziej kawowe, orzechowe. Alko minimalnie wyczuwalne, acz raczej w przyjemny sposób. Solidna pozycja.
3.8 On bottle @Musen & Elefanten. Pours black with chocolate colored foam. The scent is liquorice, nuts. The taste has high carbonation, english liqourice, smoke, caramel.
4.0 A very tasteful imperial stout. Aroma with complexity of chocolate, coffee and hints of spices and licorice. Black with a brown head. Medium-high sweetness, light-medium bitterness. Close to full body.
4.0 Deep and opaque black pour with a thin frothy brown head. Sweetness at first with a hugely robust, dark roast with note of dark chocolate, espresso beans, mild spice notes. Seems almost burnt burnt not smoked malt with a ton of roasty bitterness. Mouthfeel seems odd; oily and watery for the style. Stiff booze on the finish. This is one stiff ass beer with a huge pungent roasted malt. Sweetness throughout with a chocolate fudge cake esque quality. A hint of black licorice is evident in the aftertaste. Hornbeer seems to understand my beer tastes.
3.9 500ml bottle purchased from LCBO ... uh, some time ago. Best before 2024, so there's that ....Black pour, huge lasting frothy light brown head. Standard slightly sweet alcoholic deep roast aroma, a little Christmas cake. Taste is way less fruit, more burnt malt, iodine and bitterness - solid stuff, but a dichotomy from the aroma. Slick, average mouthfeel, quite astringent, building bitterness - ultimately no residual sweetness.
3.9 Copenhagen 7/11-2017. 50 cl bottle from Meny, Østerfælled Torv, Kbh Ø. What looks like a sketchy mole with sunglasses on the label. Pours opaque dark dark brown with small beige head. Settles as thin layer of foam barely covering the surface of the beer. Moderate lacing and retention. Aroma is strong and rich. Roasted coffee, dark bitter chocolate, dunghill and warm asphalt. Medium carbonation and thick oily palate. Flavor is strongly sweet but nicely balanced by a solid coffee bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with sweet notes and surprisingly light for a beer with an ABV of 10. Fat, creamy and roasted fellow.
3.9 Barw czarna, piana obfita. Aromat kawy, czekolady i alko. W smaku popiołowy, palony, kawowy, czekoladowy. Mocno wytrawny z czasem wychodzi trochę kwasowość kawy. Alko obecne ale nie przeszkadzające. Fajne pifko.
4.6 PhenoloEspressoShocker with the SOUR Hop Fist!! CremeNutty, auch unaufgeregt IS & doch donnernd Black Strong Ale Ig😉!!! ❤❤...0,5l Bottle aus DK.
3.9 Bottle @ home. Cellared seven years. Black liquid with a brown head. Aroma is roasted, dry. Notes of dark chocolate, raisins, walnuts, oak, soy, coffee, cocoa. Taste is medium to full with medium duration. Bitter and roasted with some soy but also flavours of coffee, walnuts, caramel, oak, dark fruits, licorice, herbs.
3.7 poprawny imperial stout... duzo kakao, czekolady, sporo popiolowych nut. dobre
3.7 Bottle. Pours a nearly black, dark red-brown with a beige head. Rather reluctant aroma with some sweetish roasted malt, nutty, toffee. (Only !) Medium body with a light sweetness and a medium bitterness. The flavor is full of heavily roasted malt - coffee, dark chocolate, wood, ash, earthy notes. Weird - did not fully convince me. Aroma: 8 Appearance: 4 Taste: 7 Palate: 4 Overall: 14
4.0 50 cl bottle. BB July 23rd 2025 (!!). It's like pouring engine oil. Jet black, lively carbonation and aggressive pour creates a medium tan to mocca coloured head. Aromas of dark, bitter chocolate, plum, fig and raisin. Full body, thick and dense, medium carbonation, bitter finish. Flavour is mostly about roasted malts, chocolate and coffee, some residual sweetness like honey or melasses. Gold medal in Brussel and Stockholm, silver in San Diego, all in 2011/12. For me personally, it's a bit too high in ABV.
3.7 From the tap at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Pours fully black with brown foam, very fine. Aroma is not that much, mostly roasted coffee. Body is strangely light but quite sticky at the same time. Some carbonation. Taste had some initial sweetness, but most of all quite a bitter character coming from roster malt mostly. Finish is long, bitter and sticky.
3.7 Bottle, shared at game night. Nearly black, moderately viscous pour. Chocolate liqueur, espresso, light char, something dusty/minerally, with a long bitter finish.
3.7 Bottle. Black pour, creamy head. Aroma of licorice, nuts, chocolate, creamy caramelised malt and coffee. Taste of bitter coffee, chocolate, licorice, nuts, honey, caramelised malt and a bittersweet finish. Solid.
3.6 In aroma dominating dark chocollate and coffee scent’s, may be a bit of caramel. In taste chocollate and in the and caramel, solid bitterness, could have more body, medium carbonation, not bad at all
3.7 50cl Bottle @ The Beer Garden Store, Madrid, Spain. Black colour with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, anise, oak. Taste is roasted malt, molasses, chocolate, coffee, walnut, slightly fruity and bitter. Full body, low to average carbonation.
3.5 Bottle 0,5. Pours pitch black with medium dark beige head, nice lacing. Coffee, raisins, dark berries, some wood and a bit smoke. Hoppy bitterness in the aftertaste. Full body, oily texture and soft carbonation.
3.6 Aroma with roasted malt, some cold coffee slightly diluted with milk, dried black fruits. dark honey. Taste of burnt malt, dark chocolate’s bitterness, charcoal, some dried walnuts, brown sugar and dark honey. Good!
4.0 This stuff is fantastic! Soft nose with a bunch of things - walnuts (says so on the bottle and the bottle doesn’t lie), dark dark dark milk chocolate, red twizzlers, the slight smoke has depth of earthy qualities, plenty of roasted malts, vanilla, molasses, touch of toffee, salt. Nothing dominates - softly complex. Dammit if this stuff didn’t hit me hard tonight. Excellent flavours that are mostly mellow, well balanced and totally succulent. The bitterness is there but never even remotely dominant. Ok, ... well when it warms that bitterness comes out pretty big but there’s so much more that it only adds to the experience. Huge deep roast, licorice, bakers chocolate, cracker, vanilla, smoke is there, quite dry at this point but it wasn’t always so. Vanilla, red candy sweetness, burnt logs (wood logs, not logs logs) in my mouth rules, molasses, a hint of alcohol here and there. Mouth is happy with the changes that go between bitterness, puckering dryness, permanent aftertaste, smoke breath. Wonderful. My second Hornbeer - very pricy at 13$ but mostly justified.
3.9 Pitch black, small coffee head. Wine, distant smoke, malty sweetness in the aroma. Mild, roasted, perfectly balanced, a bit nutty. Long lasting bitter finish.
4.2 500ml bottle. In the cellar for a year and a half. Wow. Pours black, light does not penetrate, stars are lost. Black. A thin cocoa powder coloured head on top of that. On the nose, molasses, leather, light ash, raisin and notes that make me think stout meets a lightly peated Scotch. HUGE on the tongue with molasses, tonnes of roasty malt notes, sponge toffee, faint red licorice, espresso, and a faint trace of alcohol that heads into caramel, butterscotch, heavy tannins, and a faint mint note in a lingering note of molasses in the huge finish. This is awesome. Why did I only buy ONE?!
