Hornsby's Crisp Hard Cider

Hornsby's Crisp Hard Cider

Hornsby’s Crisp Hard Cider has an elegant golden hue with the aroma and bouquet reminiscent of sweet apple juice. The taste has rich apple notes and a slight effervescence making a well balanced mouth feel with a little tanginess.

3.8 We did a blind taste test with this cider and 4 other ciders to objectively determine which one is best. The other ciders were: Woodchuck, Angry Orchard, ACE, Hornsby’s, and Strongbow. You can check it out here: http://youtu.be/Dk02pKd09Q8
3.2 12oz bottle picked up at the local gestapo Pours clear golden, no head or lacing. Aroma of red apples and sugar. Flavors of apples, tart, sugar with a dry finish Nice and refreshing.
2.1 12 oz bottle pours golden with a white head. Aroma and taste of crisp apples.
2.8 Bottle from MGM Eagan, apple juice color pour with no head. Aroma of old apples, taste is some overly sweet apple juice.
2.7 This Hard Crisp Cider was pretty good. Sharp and tasty, with a decent amount of alcohol.
1.8 Bottle. Sweet, super carbonated. Candied apples, not too much rotteness or juiciness, very clean.
3.1 Smells like apple juice, tastes like apple juice with a sour finish. Very sweet. Only a hint of alcohol at the end. Tasty and refreshing.
0.8 Smells like a cider, looks like apple juice, tastes like syrupy sugar water. I had to throw it out after drinking half the bottle. I just couldn’t do it anymore. It is WAY TOO SWEET. Seriously, how can anyone stomach that sweetness? It’s worse than just regular apple juice, even. It is unnecessary.
4.0 One of my favorites. Has a mixture of apple mixed with citrus flavors, and crisp carbonation.
3.0 Bottle from beerboxer. Aroma is Apple with light yellow color. Taste is Apple juice and sweet with a slight bile finish.
3.0 Bottle shared by beerboxer. Pours clear yellow with no head and an apple aroma. There is a sweet apple flavor that sticks to the palate. Earlier Rating: 4/16/2013 Total Score: 3.4 Bottle shared by beerboxer. Pours clear yellow with a tiny white head and a light apple aroma. There is a, yes, crisp apple flavor with a tiny bite at the finish. Sweet and refreshing.
2.6 Bottle to taster (shared with the Mrs.). Looks alright; a transpArent gold with thin white lacing that quickly dissipates. Smells tart and dry. Tastes sweeter, but not bad. Average on the palate. Simple and inoffensive; more like juice than cider though.
3.4 Clear yellow color with a bit of fizz and some white foam. Tart green apple up front with sweet sugar and apple to follow. A touch of straw and butterscotch. Sweet apple and sugar flavors. Some tartness, particularly up front. Mild straw, honey, and plenty of carbonation.
3.5 Bottle same ABV listed as Hard Crisp Cider. I assume this is an alternate name or renaming, I will find out. Pours a clear yellow color with some bubbles. A light nose of floral apples. Sweet, at times quite sweet, some honeycrisp elements here, light vanilla. Dry at times. Good.
2.5 clear, pale yellow color, no head to speak of. aroma is mostly apple with a little honey. flavor is pretty similar with apples and honey.
3.4 NIce and sweet, not so hard. I alkso had the strawberry one but was quite painty. NIce aroma and bubbly character too.
2.4 Tastes like Mott’s apple juice with a twang, great if you love a intense apple taste not terribly carbonated.
3.3 bottle. pale golden with minimal head. sweet and lightly tart. not complex at all, but very pleasant.
3.3 Smooth, easy to drink, not overly sweet, though not overly flavorful either. Still, it fits the season.
2.4 12 ounce bottle from a Kroger. Pours a clear golden color with a thin fizzy head that lasts a while for a cider. Aroma of sweet, artificial apples. The taste is tart apples. A bit grainy. Thin bodied. Meh.
3.2 12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Looks like apple juice. Smells and tastes like apple. Sweet and a little tart. It’s a cider. While there is nothing really special here, it’s drinkable and fits the fall season pretty well.
3.5 Bottle purchased at Kroger on Polaris. Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Aroma of apple juice, a bit of tartness and light alcohol. Flavor is spiked (and carbonated) apple juice with a sweet apple finish.
3.4 I like balanced the sweet is to the tart. Compatible to angry orchard only it tastes closer to actual cider.
4.1 I like Horbsbys’ crisp apple. I think it’s comparable to Woodchuck, but Hornsbys is a little more tart.
2.4 12 ounce bottle purchased at WinnDixie supermarket for $4.49/6-pack. Not good.
3.4 Clean and crisp, this a a tart apple cider. Very refrehing - not much but clean apple flavor. Good cider.
2.6 Not really a cider drinker, but I am starting to like them more and more. The smell of apple vinaigrette and the look of a dehydrated pee. Taste of a slight vinaigrette also but the apple itself is very good. A wonderful refreshing beverage for grilling and mowing the grass if your not in the mood for a beer.
2.8 Not much to critique with this one, but here goes my submitted attempt anyway—it’s a lucid, urine-bayed cider of which smells a little unsettlingly of stale wheat bread and simultaneously what it has the liquifiable essence of. Apples only detectable if you cram your nose on the lip of the bottle and snort away. Zero head. Tastes sweet—gratingly sweet—but seems to have an alright balance for the style in which it represents: caramelized sugar, apple cores, and sodium. Complex? Not so. Interesting? Meh. Drinkable? Yessir!
2.6 An sweet cider that offers a bit of a bite. It’s better than woodchuck or ace pear.
5.0 I love the Crisp Apple. It tastes like you’re actually biting into a crispy juicy sweet apple! It *is* sweet, but I like that. Feels like autumn when I drink a Hornsby!
