3.4 Thick white head on an amber brown body. Clarity is clear. Aroma of vanilla and nutmeg. Taste of nutmeg cinnamon, vanilla and tending towards a pumpkin finish.
3.2 Bottle at home. Pours clear copper with a small, fizzy beige head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is brown sugar, pumpkin, nutmeg and vanilla, and toast malt. Flavor is sweet toast malt and brown sugar, vanilla and nutmeg with pumpkin and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
3.7 missed review from the fall. solid pumpkin brew with all the requisite spices but not overdone. nice color and body holds it all together. I’d get again.
3.1 pours a clear copper-orange with a large white head, and some lacing. smell is of spice, pumpkin, and malt. taste is of spice, pumpkin, some caramel, malty, flavor grows on you over time (gets better as it warms). ends a little dry and definite pumpkin
3.8 1 L. swingtop. Lightly hazy orange-copper body supports a lasting thin disc of creamy foam. Nose is dark fruit bubblegum, sassafras-spiced hard candy and an occasional bit of squash. Tastes of bubblegum, toffee, earthy spice mix, toasted nut and some nice notes of vegetal pumpkin. A bit of wooden hop, roast and the spices provide a dry, mildly astringent finish. Medium body has medium carbonation and shows just a pleasant warming from the 8%. Great spice mix that provides lots of complex flavors, doesn’t have any one spice dominating the flavor and on the whole doesn’t completely overwhelm the pumpkin or the yeast. Would be really great if there was just a pinch less of the spices though.
4.8 I saw this in the holiday section at BevMo and couldn’t believe the size of the bottle. My friend and I were joking about it and then when we looked it up on Rate Beer, we had to try it. This is the most enjoyable holiday craft brew I’ve had by a long shot. It has a lot of the fall seasonal flavors like cinnamon and nutmeg along with caramel in it. At the same time it runs very smooth and pours out orange :) It’s something definitely worth trying if you haven’t had it before. It’s not very bitter or anything but it settles quite well. It doesn’t taste like it’s 8% either :)
3.8 Your basic pumpkin beer, but a bit more assertive and alcoholic. The assertiveness comes though in the spicyness, accentuated by added hops.
2.6 Pours clear medium amber with two fingers of fluffy off-white head diminishing gradually to a thick cap, moderate lacing. (3/5) Nose is pureed peaches and squash, caramel malt, pumpkin pie spices. (5/10) Taste is sweet tending to cloying, mild bitter. (5/10) Medium body, low carbonation, mild bitter finish. (3/5) Hey, it’s Halloween! If I can’t have a pumpkin beer now, when can I? Well... Never, maybe? A bit disappointing, to be honest. I read the reviews before buying this, and thought it might be one of the (very) few pumpkin ales that bucked the trend. But this isn’t even close to being the best pumpkin beer I’ve had, and pumpkin beers aren’t even close to the best beers in general, so... Yeah. (10/20)
3.5 Pours clear orange, thin off-white head, doesn’t last, lacing is spotty. Nose is pumpkin pie spices, crystal malt, light non-specific fruitiness, standard clean yeast, some pumpkin here, but if there wasn’t a giant Jack-o-Lantern on the label, I’d be hard pressed to pick it out.
4.3 I didn’t even want to like this thing so much. In the past I have had some fairly awful at worst and lackluster at best Pumpkin Ale experiences. As I am a sucker for all things pumpkin though, I keep going back in hope of finding a decent festive brew. From the smooth notes of clove, cinnamon, anise, nutmeg, brown sugar, caramel and of course pumpkin to the beautiful red-orange glow with the lofty cream head, this liquid pie does it right. The taste is sweet but not saccharine and is thoroughly pumpkininny. A smooth and low carbonated body with a small hint of oiliness, this gourd guzzle hides it’s booze bomb well but warms this fella on a crisp autumn day. Huzzah!
3.8 Quite a tasty pumpkin brew for how strong it is. Pours an unfiltered amber colour with a big head. Aroma is of pumpkin pie, and all the spices that go into it and even some ginger. Tastes about the same which is fine by me. Had low carbonation and is smooth, I was kind of hoping for a heavier body though.
3.4 Pours clear copper with a thin white head. Aroma and taste are mostly roasted pumpkin with hints of spice and caramel.
3.8 32 oz bottle, consumed at Right Proper Brewing. Poured a relatively clear amber color with a small off-white head. Aroma was pumpkin, actual pumpkin, with notes of cinnamon, nutmeg. Flavor was nice light pumpkin pie, with nutmeg taking the forefront on this, with light cinnamon and gourd following up. Actually not bad.
3.6 Bottle - 1L swing top. Gorgeous copper amber with a medium, dense foamy tan head. Nose is pumpkin pie, soft spice, caramel, sweet malt, pumpkin bread and sweet malt. Taste is big pumpkin pie notes, spices, sweet malt, caramel notes, bready malts and candy notes. Body is medium with a dense, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more pumpkin pie notes, pumpkin pie spices, sweet malt, bready malts and caramel.
3.3 19 sept 2014, bottle. Orange, clear, steady bubbles nose is big pumpkin our spice but not too sweet. Med body and mildly fizzy. A tad spicy, pumpkin pie spices, maybe clove is most noticeable but not too much. Decent.
3.4 Bottle. Pretty standard pumpkin ale, some nice pumpkin spice, medium-full body. It's no Pumking, but a pretty good pumpkin beer.
3.9 Large flip-top bottle. Pours a bright orange red with a pillowy head of tight white bubbles that quickly diminishes to a thin layer. Aroma is creamy and well spiced. The complex scents don’t compete with one another, they are cohesive. Gentle carbonation brings the flavors onto the tongue. Lots of complex spice and lightly roasted pumpkin. Some toast and bready notes as well. Very drinkable considering the high alcohol level. Well done.
3.6 75 cl bottle, Calgary, AB, Canada via coop. Hazy apricot colour. Butterscotch sweet aroma, some clove and fennel. Sweet, though balanced, alcohol helping to flatten the seasonal flavours. Long spice hop finish.
3.7 Tap at the Jeffrey. Pours orange with no head. Nose is rich pumpkin pie filling and spice. Tastes of plenty of pumpkin, nutmeg, cinnamon, touch of earth, and malt. Almost some fruity koolaid on finish. Semi-sweet and a fulfilling pumpkin ale.
3.3 Pint purchased at the brewery. Dark orangey brown with minimal white head. Hint of pumpkin and cinnamon I think. Nice and chill on the first sip the bitterness followed by flavors of cinnamon and something I can’t put my finger on, although it is interesting. It doesn’t have too much of a palate, but I do feel the cinnamon when it goes down the throat.
3.6 Slightly hazy, coppery amber with frothy off white head. Low retention, some lacing. Aroma of fresh pumpkin and cinnamon. Taste is pumpkin forward, a touch of cinnamon, and underlying earthy and nutty flavours. Flat carbonation, with a thick, oily texture and full body. Long, lingering, almost film-like pumpkin finish. More or less an amped up version of your standard pumpkin beer.
3.4 Reddish amber color, moderate head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is pumpkin, cinnamon, clove, caramel, bread. Not getting any of the licorice type flavors from the anise. Medium bodied, pretty straightforward but good.
3.9 Hazy orangey colour. Lots of pumpkin in the aroma and a little bit of nutmeg...pretty appetizing. Sweet, lots of pumpkin, with a hint of cinnamon, a fairly strong, sweet, malt character and some gingerbready character. Almost a bit chocolatey character, Good balance.
3.1 Aroma: Spicey aroma with some rich maltiness. Some hopiness lightly present Taste : sweet and spicey flavors thst give way to a bitter finish Appearance :Clear dark amber body with well retained creamy head
3.2 Huge 1 litre bottle from the LCBO. Pours a dark colour with thin off-white head. Aroma is pumpkin, spices. Taste is same. Pretty good pumpkin ale.
3.0 Sigh…….. yet another short distracted review due to being at a party. I normally really dislike this style of brew, the pumpkin beers do nothing for me but this one I can drink. Dark copper body with a ok crown, gets extra points for the flip top lid. Body is light and easy to drink. Spices are kept under control so it not like drinking a candle shop. A lot lighter then I was expecting given the higher ABV. Maybe that’s why this is working for me the higher ABV. No fake over the top flavours here…………. That’s a good thing. Just a light pumpkin and spice build onto a solid easy drinking beer.
3.1 Huge bottle from Brian. Thanks! A: Brackish read with an off-white head. N: Pumpkin, cinnamon, all-spice and some hops. Not an overly strong flavor, not particularly holiday. T: Lightly sweet with some spice. Again. light on flavor. M: Medium body - a touch watered down. O: Not much to say about this one. It’s an average beer; not good, not bad.
3.7 Giant freaking bottle thanks to neepsntatties . Pours a clear dark copper/orange hue with a medium white head. A big nose of spicy pumpkin. The flavor is more authentic natural pumpkin, light heat, big spices, quite nice. A damn nice pumpkin beer.
3.5 A nice fall beer. Aromas of cinnamon, apple, and pumpkin. Roasty and toasty flavors. Sweet and spicy flavors Too. A very nice fall ale.
