3.6 500ml bottle from Beers of Europe: Bright amber with tonnes of fine bubbles rising to the surface, a large & foamy white head about 3cm tall that's got great retention too & a slightly cloudy body; excellent so far. It is light smelling with citrus, wheat & banana with faint clove at the end but it should be stronger. The taste is similar, lots of banana & wheat, touches of citrus pepper & cloves with a bit of yeast at the end but again it's light. It is well carbonated though with a medium body & sweet finish.
4.2 On tap at Weissbräu Huber as Freising Hefe Weiss. Hazy deep yellow with large white head. Fruity, banana, sweetish, smooth. Medium bodied. Tasty and one of the better hefes I had chance to try.
3.6 Bottle from House of Trembling Madness. It pours cloudy orange with a thick hick, fluffy white head. The aroma is soft, sweet, foamy banana candy, banana split, museli, cereal, doughy wheat bread and flump. The taste is initially dry, then it's softens out, banana split, foamy banana candy, touch of grass, smack of citrus, light spice, clove rock, doughy wheat bread and cereal with a dry finish. Medium body and fluffy, foamy carbonation. Nice sweet - dry balance. A nice classic example of the style. Very drinkable.
3.0 Bottle. As Hofbrauhaus Freising Hefe Weiss. Poured hazy golden, foamy white head. Aroma of yeast, banana, fruity. Taste was medium sweet, yeast, wheat, grain, mild spices. Lacking flavor overall.
4.0 Bottle from The Curious Hop, Otley. Pours a hazy muddy light orange colour with a huge thick creamy off-white head. Strong aromas of bananas and cloves, apples, pears, bread and bubblegum. Taste has the same notes as the aroma, very full flavoured beer. Full bodied with fair carbonation and a slightly oily mouthfeel. Overall it is a very good Hefeweizen and up there with the best that i have tried. Excellent beer.
2.9 Bottle. Pours a hazy orange colour with a fluffy white head, light wheat aroma, the taste is medium bitterness and with a dry bitter finish.
3.2 Dark golden to light orange, hazy. Classic big weizen head shows good enough persistence and lacing. Aroma has soft dough base, followed by strong bubblegum, slight banana and a touch of spiciness. Not too complex but quite intense. Taste is again not too deep or interesting. Doughish-like base, bubblegum, slight banana, clove spiciness a bit stronger than the aroma suggested. Overall very much your standard weizen, and not especially refined at that. Light to medium bodied with medium to high carbonation in a classic soft but lively enough mouthfeel. An ok example of the style.
Man schmeckt gekochte Früchte, Getreide, minimal Zitrus.
3.7 500ml bottle, while watching a programme about the rockies, Canada. Thanks Sinh4 for this! Pours hazed yellow, large white head. Good weiss esters on the nose. Prominent banana, lovely fluffy weiss yeast, smooth textures, nicely rounded. Good weissbier.
3.2 Flasche 0,5l: Bernstein, ocker, kräftige Trübung, kräftiger stabiler feinporiger Schaum; eher trockene + dezent fruchtige Nase, leichte fruchtige Säure, leichte malzige Süße, kräftige eher trockene Hefearomen, Bananen, Malz, Getreide, Karamell, dezente trockene Hopfennoten; leicht fruchtiger + eher trockener Körper, leichte fruchtige Säure, sehr kräftige Hefearomen, Malz, Getreide, etwas Karamell, cremig, kräftige Kohlensäure, Bananen, leichte Hopfennoten; angenehmer malzig-trockener Nachgang
3.5 This is a smaller 11 oz bottle. But hey, I thought I tried this already but I guess its not related to the houfbrauhaus in Pgh? Just asking, this one is in freising? Now, there are so many wanna be supposedly hefers out there and very few are on style. Let me tell you, this stuff is. From the start I know its real hefe by the way it looks. The taste is very good, and its creamy co2 on the palate. Yes its wheat, but lacks any of those stupid wheat ale attributes. This stuff is smooth and friendly, finally a beer that has not been bastardized by bitter hops. No sign of bitterness in this smooth refreshing brew. Friendly easy fun and heffy flavorful. Is it it bananas? Is it bubblegum? Who knows, its just plain good hefeweiss, the real thing! Thanks toerring. Lovely example of the style.
3.8 Fles 50cl thuis. Zacht banaan, romig, klein zuurtje, licht kruidig, süffig, prettig zoet. Prima balans. (3-1-2020).
3.4 08-12-19 // 500ml bottle via trade with jonas. All around solid weizen. Soem bannan, some yeast. Some spice.
3.2 Beer with yellow color, fuzzy aspect, soft bitterness, soft carbonized, good volume of foam on top, (drunk a 50cl tap beer with LG at "Wirtshaus zur goldene Traube", Großmehring, DE #1070)(#138 DE)(#64 Bavaria).
2.9 bottled - a classic German wheat beer. Nice golden color. Slight banany aroma. Decent wheat flavor.
3.2 Bottle shared at Max'. Hazy gold, white head. Aroma of yeast, fruit, bubblegum. Tastes sweet, fruity, some banana candy. Smooth, full body.
3.0 Bottle sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks kerenmk. Cloudy golden, white head. Banana, yeast, spiciness, bread, sweetish, mild sourish note, faint bitterish hint, medium-bodied.
Belle couleur, belles bulles. Dommage que les arômes ne persistent pas.
3.7 Pour is cloudy and golden. Strong aroma of banana. Good flavor. Very true to style Hefeweizen.
3.1 Tap at Dock No. 13, Bangkok. Poured a hazy golden orange colour with a round bubbly white head. The aroma is big yeast, grainy malt, crushed banana. The flavour is yeasty, acidic citrus, with a smooth, yeast dominated banana, light sweet fruit palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation. A standard Hefe. Doesn’t really stand out from the crowd.
3.0 At Stubaital, golden with a nice head, aroma of banana, bubblegum, flavor of banana bread, bubblegum, medium bodied
3.3 Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow color. Light malty and moderate hoppy and moderate yeasty aroma. Moderate bitter flavor. Average moderate bitter finish. Some fruity esters mostly pineapple. Oily palate.
3.4 Berry white tasting. Bottle shared, unclear golden with white head. Sweet wheaty malts, creamy banana. Moderate sweet and bitter, light sour overripe banana. Medium body and soft carbonation.
3.4 Bottle shared thanks to SinH4 for the bottle. Bit hazy golden with big white head. Spicy yeast, wheat, dough, banana, light herbal, dry grassy hops, light malts too. Just medium sweet and solid bitter for a weizen. Medium bodied. OK.
3.0 50 cl bottle (BBD 2020-02-05), bought from and drunk at Trevs Bar (DH1 3LN) on 2019-06-26. Appearance is a hazy deep gold with a thin white head that lingers and a small amount of visible carbonation. I like to see more head on a weizen. Aroma is predominantly notes of banana and clove, with hints of honey maybe. Nice wheat beer aroma but not particularly complex. Taste is surprisingly heavy on orchard fruit notes. Apple jumps out, maybe some elderflower. Pleasant. Palate is medium bodied with some carbonation in the mouth. The finish is medium length and rather nice. Overall, this is a perfectly satisfactory example of the style but nothing else. I like a bit more complexity in the taste of my wheat beers, but I wouldn't turn down another of these.
