Ilkley Lotus IPA

Ilkley Lotus IPA

Cask and bottle; Regular.

India Pale Ales were made for transport overseas and are strong in alcohol and strongly hopped. Our golden coloured Lotus IPA is both of these and more with summit hops from New Zealand and cascade hops from America giving strong aromas and flavours of mango, grapefruit and all round citrus.

3.4 A fairly straightforward new world-y IPA. Hazy, white head, sweet citrus aroma, grapefruit and mango in the flavour giving it a sweet hit that's borderline sickly to my taste. Gimme a well chilled can of it and I'd be all over it.
3.6 Cask pint at the Crosse Keys, Gracechurch Street. Pours golden with a white head. Aroma of malt and citrus. Bitter taste and finish.
3.2 Pint in wetherspoons Newcastle. Had a few of these over the years and enjoyed them but for some reason not reviewed. Solid ipa. I preferred the other labelling.
3.6 Can. Hazy gold, thin but lasting white head and gentle condition. Big fruity nose with lemon citrus, melon and passion fruit, a touch of grassiness, and a hint sweet grain. Full bodied and peppery in the mouth with a gentle sweet grain note, becoming chalky dry and hop bitter with time, some citrus and grassy hops persist and there is a faint background yeastiness, finish is long, dry and lingering bitterness and a slight peppery spiciness.
3.8 Slightly dank aroma with some mature fruit. Fruit continues into the flavours, some floral there too, with a slightly bitter background that comes through more strongly at the end. Subtle malt throughout. Very nice.
3.5 Danke an minutemat. Süffiger, stark hopfiger Antrunk. Geringe Bitterkeit, grasig, würzig herb. Süßlich fruchtig, konstant bitter, klebrig. Noten von Honig, etwas trockener Hintergrund, langer, etwas holziger Abgang. 10/11/11/11/10/11
3.0 19th Nov 2018. Monthly Share Group meeting in Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury, only three of us this time. 330ml can, cheers Mike. Misty old gold body, white topping. Hoppy, earthy, bitter, dank; some citrus action too.

2.7 330 ml can from Beer Hawk, bb 11/2018. Deep gold, clear, occasional bubble racing to the surface. Nose - malt, malt, malt. And some more caramel on top. Taste - malt. Some shy fruit in the background. Bitter malty aftertaste. No.
3.2 From a beer hawk mystery case. Pours orange with a nice head. Fresh mild hop aroma. Great taste of hops , malt , lemon , fruity. Chewy IPA.
3.8 Pours almost clear yellow-golden, topped with smaller white head. Lots of tropical fruits, mango and pineapple. Piney. Very nice. Milder bitterness with some fruitiness. Herbal aftertaste. Light body, fresh and sparkly. A bit too harsh on the herbs in the aftertaste.
3.0 Canned 330ml. -at Pivoteka Zagreb. Golden coloured, medium sized white to off-white head, hops and touch of caramel in the nose. Sweet malty, caramel, herbal hops, mild citrusy and some light bitterness with rather sweet finish. Not so fresh example.
3.8 Sweet and grassy aroma, some rye maybe, citrus. Hazy orange color with small sized white head. Taste is also grassy with that same sweet bubblegum-ish rye note. Mango and lemon. Medium body, soft carbonation, silky. I've seen some bad ratings from people drinking it from the can, but keg was really nice and fresh. Maybe it's just me, maybe is something wrong with the cans. //tap at Craft Room
3.2 On tap at Craft Room, Opatovina, Zagreb. Shared with lovely Anja. Murky golden, small off-white head. Lightly to moderately hoppy, fruity, citrus, orange, maybe peach, tropical notes. Also malty. Not getting the English hops if they were in fact used. Light bitterness. Aromatic. Medium body, moderate carbonation, light finish. Average.
3.3 Pours amber with a off white head. Aroma of citrus, floral and some caramel. Taste is grapefruit and caramel
3.0 Can I reckon. Hazy golden body, white head. Huh, sadly, this was a bit oxidized, caramelly maltiness was the only thing in the aroma. Sweetish malty taste, with some very light orangey hops. Okay. To be rerated fresh at some point.

3.6 Keg at Beerdock Leek. A hazy golden colour with a medium white head. Aroma of passionfruit, mango, slight bubblegum, a little grapefruit, orange and subtle floral hops. Taste of passionfruit, grapefruit, some orange, slight mango, caramel, a little pale malt and subtle floral hops. Medium bodied and an oily texture.
