2.9Can within the confines of my library.
Pours a very hazy yellow color with a small but reasonably well retained head.
The aroma is lightly sweet with a whole bunch of grapefruit. It almost smells more like grapefruit soda than grapefruit beer... good grapefruit soda, but still...
The flavor is certainly sweet & it’s got a bunch of grapefruit juice flavor, it’s tart and pleasantly bitter with some light malt and herbal hop character.
This is fine, I mean... I wouldn’t drink much of it, but for a "Grapefruit Shandy" sure, great.
3.2Hazy orange pour. Aroma is faint. Taste is candied grapefruit. This is a teenagers’ beer. If you like wine coolers, this might be for you.
3.7Refreshing, citrusy, fun, has depth even for a fruit beer, my favorite over my usual Blue Moon or 312
1.7Aroma is grapefruit. Taste is very sweet with lots of fruitiness. Overall too much on the fruity side.
2.6Draft sample. Cloudy, almost murky, golden orange color, pretty flat. Aroma of earthy grapefruit. Taste is bitter citrus. OK.
2.6Sweet, bright tangerine and grapefruit on the nose. It’s a little sweet and nothingy throughout. Got a pithy bitterness. Hazy cereals too. It’s fine.
3.2Pours a murky golden yellow on tap with fluffy off-white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of sweet citrus, lime and grapefruit juice all over it. Taste follows, sweet and cloying, but that is what it is supposed to be. I’d chug it at the beach or pool.
4.6Very refreshing love the grapefruit flavor! Probably an excellent choice on a hot summer days and nights!
3.0Bottle.
Pours hazy yellow-orange with a dusting of a head.
Smells of grapefruit juice, a bit of lemon, and a pit of candy.
Taste is pleasant. Sparking grapefruit juice, a tiny bit of sugar (but not too sweet), and a hint of lemon peel.
2.7Really has a nice grapefruit aroma. The beer is certainly light with some lemon mixed in with the grapefruit. Not bad in a small portion.
3.4Bottle poured a cloudy gold with a lingering ring of ivory foam. Aromas of bread, grapefruit and a hint of earthiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread and grapefruit with a crisp dry lingering grapefruit finish.
2.2Has the color of a dark yellow. No head with some bubbly mouthfeel. Strong taste and smell of grapefruit
2.9Cloudy yellow with a foamy white head. White ring lace. Smells like lemon and metal. Too bad the grapefruit was added after the fact instead of doing it with hips. It’s refreshing except for the dirty lemon rind notes. A big of sugary sweetness further detracts from good beer no matter how it helps sell this to young girls.
3.7Bottle. Pours a hazed wheat with a medium sized white head. Sweet grapefruit juice on the nose, smells like a soda already. Medium bodied, light wheat and a bit of sweetness. Grapefruit comes through, but not the bracing bitterness I was hoping for from the nose. Much more subdued and light. Gentle wheat and light grapefruit on the finish, bitterness.
2.4Bottle from Albertsons. I didn’t buy this, have actually been avoiding it. Pretty bland, tastes like slightly fizzy grapefruit juice. Hazy, milky golden body, not much of a finish either. This might work on a super hot day as a thirst quencher, but not right now.
1.812 oz bottle as Illusive Traveler Grapefruit Ale. BB Oct/2015. (Posh Liquor) Honolulu, HI.
Cloudy orange color with a small white head.
Sweet citrus aroma with orange, lemon and mild grapefruit.
The flavor is sweet orange soda with some grapefruity and malty notes.
Quite alright radler/shandy.
2.7Hazy orange with off-white head. Aromas of grapefruit juice, sweet citrus. Tastes of grapefruit juice, wheat, slightly medicinal. Medium-light body with a dry finish.
3.912 ounce bottle poured into a brandy snifter. The beer is a hazy copper to gold color with a white head of foam. The aroma has lots of grapefruit juice and dried toast characteristics. Some pith type bitterness. Medium sweetness and moderate bitterness across the board. Not bad, and actually quite good overall.
3.8Bought this at a local supermarket and was quite surprised at it. Smells of a sweet but acidic grapefruit as expected, but not overpowering. Has a hazy yellow tint with maybe the slightest trace of pink as expected. The taste is a nice, but not over powering grapefruit. The head was frothy and quickly vanishing with a ice carbonation. Awesomely refreshing! Perfect for a patio get together or a backyard bonfire meeting! Maybe even certain BBQ’s!
2.9Sampled at GABF 2015. In tasting glass. as hazy orange. No foam. Nose of citrus. Light body. Flavor is citrus. Tart finish. Liked it better than I was prepared for. Shandys can be done OK
2.8Bottle at America on Tap
Cloudy light golden color. Huge grapefruit and bitter pith in the aroma and flavor. Honestly tastes like grapefruit juice more than beer. Not a fan.
2.5beer with fruit added in. not a bad job but it is what it is. there are times when it would work good and therefore earn a better score from many including me. will rerate. sampled at monmouth racetrack nj. try not to miss it.
3.3Keg pour at powder keg beer and chili festival. Aroma is fruit/grapefruit.
Appearance is cloudy/hazy yellow with mild head with poor retention, trace lacing. Taste is nice medium sweet grapefruit. Palate is light to medium bodied with thin texture with nice carbonation that is very refreshing--perfect for a hot summer day. Overall, I liked this way more than I thought I would--not much of a shandy fan. But, for a certain setting, I could see this hitting the spot. Kind of an alcoholic Fresca.
3.812 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 2/2016. Pours very hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of ruby red grapefruit, lemon peel, light pepper, wheat, cracker, light honey, light herbal/grass and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of grapefruit/lemon, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of big ruby red grapefruit, lemon peel, light pepper, wheat, cracker, light honey, light herbal/grass, and yeast earthiness. Light lemon peel bitterness and grapefruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon peel, wheat, cracker, light honey, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice balance and robustness of grapefruit/lemon, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; with a nice malt/bitter/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Moderate amount of dryness after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, and lightly creamy/bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with zero warming present as expected of 4.4%. Overall this is a very good grapefruit shandy style. All around good robustness and balance of grapefruit/lemon, pale malt, and light earthy hop/yeast ester flavors; and very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
2.7on tap @Drake’s / Florence KY --- Opaqye dirty light amber, white head cover, bands of lace. Taste is natural citrus with an edge of bitter/sour grapefruit in a medium finish. What malt? What hops? Definitely a shandy, and nothing else.
2.7Bottle at poker mix in a shandy slow shit down. Pours peachy orange. Nose is all grapefruit. Tastes of grapefruit juice, wheat, lemon, lime. Just juicy soda fun no beerishness detected but tastes fine enough
3.0bottled - both good and bad at the same time. The grapefruit flavor tastes good but also artificial. Refreshing though.
3.4On tap at Home Plate. Super cloudy medium orange color. Little to no head. Wheaty citrus aromas. Flavor of tart grapefruit with a little lemon. Decent overall. Better than I thought it would be.
3.0pours cloudy pale golden with a small white cap, some retention and lacing. fresh tangerine-orange juice, pink grapefruit, honeyed maltiness, some bitter lemon peel, hint of sweetness - grapefruit-flavored candies; few astringent herbs/peel; hint of citric acidity, yeast. light to low carbonation - lacking for its style; light body - not watery; semi-sweet and peppery-grapefruity-zesty finish. tad too sweet for my tastebuds - still a quite decent and fragrant grapefruit radler.
3.6Hazy orange with a white head. Citrus aroma. Really nice wheat and grapefruit flavors on the palate. Great summer beer
