Independence Brewing Stash IPA

Independence Brewing Stash IPA

Stash IPA is defined by the hops. 7 additions of 4 different varietals, Columbus, Galaxy, Nugget and Cascade create a hop explosion that finishes clean. A dank, resinous and enlightening hop trip. It’s got mad hops.

Head Brewer Michael Waters: "The Stash is a reincarnated beast. It makes sense to go to the source, and IPA for me is defined by the West Coast. Three pounds of hops per barrel, 100 IBU, and a large dose of Columbus hops so the aroma matches the name."

3.6 Tap at craftpride in Austin. Gold with medium white head. Piney oily nose. Medium resin, some crisp hop, light dankness. Medium body and sticky, with lasting finish. Pretty good.
3.1 Very light for an IPA. Doesn't have an incredibly strong finish, almost disappears after the initial flavor. Interesting beer
3.9 Big hop bite that fades away into grassy hops. Well done by independence, it's a refreshing IPA, drinkable, I could have several.
4.2 Very lite crisp taste but with a nice hoppy aftertaste. A little like flower power IPA
3.3 Tap at longhorn saloon. Pours clear straw Some head and lacing. Grain cereal some grapefruit cardboard. Taste med. tiger light sweet. Full body lively carbonation.
3.4 Clear darker yellow, fluffy lacing foam head. Nice hoppy aroma and strong bitter taste. Fine IPA. (Galveston 201705)
3.6 Pale golden beer out of the bottle with a sticky, foamy white head. Nose of citrus rinds. I didn’t find this particularly dank. Lots of bitter orange peel, grapefruit rind and some tropical fruit sweetness. I does drink like an old school West Coast IPA.
3.5 Tap at Banger’s, Austin. Hazy orange color, small off-white head. Aroma has tropical fruits and citrus. Medium-bodied. Citrus, marmalade, piney, tropical fruits, gooseberry. Nice ipa.
3.5 Bought in a draft pint at the local emporium. So how do these Texas breweries keep doing it? Well done. It appears with a fairly innocuous light gold and yellow in the glass. The head is much better, a highly carbonated layer of small bubbles that is as thick as you want I guess. The smell is of pine and hops, an IPA of course. It has a fairly involved taste, juniper with an ending pineapple sweetness. Very decent. And that is followed with a pleasant bitterness, not too much. Clean, brisk. All right.
3.3 Burst of hops. Well balanced leads to a nice finish with good flavor. Would have this again
3.7 12 oz bottle. (Fiesta) Austin, TX. Clear golden color with a small white head. Fresh fruity and piney hops, moderate bitterness and dry malt in the aroma. The flavor is resiny and piney hops, moderate bitterness, dryness and malt. Fresh and tasty. Really tasty.
3.5 Clear golden with a small white head. The aroma has a lot of resinous notes with some pine and tropical fruit notes, along with some sweet malt. The flavor starts out a little sweet, but quickly fades into a strong resinous bitterness. Finishes pretty dry.
3.4 Draft at Alamo Drafthouse. Pale amber with a slight haze. Citrusy, resinous aroma. Nicely balanced bitterness and citrus. Not bad.
3.3 Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pours pale gold and hazy with a white head. Aroma of citrus and pine. Taste is light citrus and pine; a bit resinous but very sessionable. Good.
3.4 Aroma: very sweet, reminding me of honey dew; Appearance; hazy golden straw with thin white head that dissipates fairly quickly; Taste: starts fruity and ends with strong yet non bitter hoppiness; Palate: medium body with long, mildly bitter finish; Overall: very decent IPA; better than expected.
3.7 Golden to copper pour , off white 0ne finger head. Giant hops taste up front and a slightly sweet finish. Great depth of hop flavor.
3.2 Clear golden yellow with an ample white head. Apricot, light pine, hay and grains. Very resinous bitterness, lingering malt backbone. Very oily, coats the palate heavily. Medium body with a bit of effervescence. Lingering aftertaste. Fine.
3.5 Tap at craft pride in Austin. Moderate low citrus and faint pine. Clear deep yellow with full white head that retains. Taste is moderate juicy citrus. Moderate bitterness leads to a quick finish.
3.7 Austin, Tx - on tap at Independence Brewing Tap Room. Slight haze to the medium golden pour, slight off-white head with a nice web of lacing. Tangy aroma with some pineapple accents, hint of spearmint, nice. Solid full-bodied flavor with some pineapple fruitiness, solid citrus bite, some caramel sweetness. Mouthfeel has a solid thickness to it. Me like.
4.1 Nice IPA! Clear gold in color, thick eggshell head. Has a subtle earthy nuttiness to it throughout with a very smooth pined hop profile. Very easy to drink yet plenty of character.
3.3 Pours a murky light golden color with a light creamy head. Aromas of slight pineapple, caramel, pine, citrus. The malt covers much of the hop aromas. Flavors light pine, citrus, light caramel, light grass. Lightly sweet and medium bitter finish and medium dry. All around light ipa that lacks very much complexity.
3.5 Appearance: hazy pale gold with a short ivory head, good retention and well-defined lacing. (4/5) Aroma: tropical fruit, citrus, pale malt, dank, onion. (7/10) Taste: moderate sweet, high bitter. (7/10) Palate: medium body, moderate carbonation, off-dry lingering bitter finish. (3/5) I was sort of expecting brighter hops for something so fresh. The aromas also don’t really seem to communicate the true bitterness of this thing - it doesn’t smell anywhere near as massively bitter as it ends up being on the tongue. The dankness (“stash”, geddit?) starts to come through a bit more as it warms, but so does the onion, so that’s a little bit of a double-edged sword. Ultimately, though, it’s an impressively easy drinking beast for 7% and 100IBU. (14/20)
3.4 Citrus ipa towards lemons. Pours a little cloudy with a nice long lasting pillowy white head. Taste is bitter forward. Some hop flavor lingers and they’re on the brighter side. Not much malt but it’s not so overwhelmingly bitter that it’s an issue. Good drinker, bit of a one note thing though.
3.4 Golden brew with fast fading head. Aroma is mild for an IPA with only a hint at some herbal hops. Taste is slight herbal and floral at first but finished out with a bit of citrus. Not as hopped as I would expect for an IPA but the mild hops has made this one very chuggable. So overall not a bad brew but not the best example of an IPA.
3.8 On tap at Gingerman in Austin. Pours a clear orange with a white head. Aromas of grapefruit and citrus. Taste is light bitterness with a lingering sweetness. On the juicy side. Good IPA when you’re in Austin.
4.6 330ml bottle at home. LOVE the stash IPA, in my opinion one of the smoothes IPAs out there. True hop explosion but not that bitter.
3.3 Rated based on notes taken 23 June 2012 -- Very well done IPA. Much enjoyment was had.
2.5 It was a very weak IPA it didn't finish well at all for an IPA. I don't think the hops in this one was enough to put that floral finish on it.
3.9 Beer pours clear golden color with a retained egg white head. Aromas of grass and citrus. Taste is pleasantly bitter. Finish is also bitter. Pretty damn good beer.
3.0 Onion and dank aroma. Light gold with good head. Unbalanced flavor with dank hops dominating. Grainy malt flavor. Dry finish.
