Innis & Gunn Blood Red Sky

Innis & Gunn Blood Red Sky

Blood Red Sky sets a scene. Warm Caribbean sand, flickering candles, cold beer and anticipation of the night to come. From this place came the inspiration for this brew. Jamaican rum barrels meet Scottish red beer in an explosion of cool, spicy rum notes, vanilla and rich fruit.

We brew Blood Red Sky using our unique barrel into beer method, turning the traditional beer into barrel process on its head without losing any of the wonderful flavours and aromas from the barrel.

3.8 Surprisingly nice. Ale but with spirit hint. Would have again
3.4 The usual, cool embossed I&G 300 mL bottle. Pours clear, pretty dark with an ivory, stiff head. Candied sugar aroma with notes of peat and vanilla, maybe a little floral. I actually liked the flavor a bit more than I thought I was going to - malty, woody, slightly rummy. Bitterness is more on the backend. Cola finish. OK. Market Square Liquors, Timberlane.
3.7 Got some fruity notes. Harder to drink at first. Definitely got a rum/ spirit like taste from it. Because more and more enjoyable. Would buy again but a tad on the strong side for casual drinking and playing d&d.
3.2 Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a tight white head, malt aroma with hints of sugar and rum, the taste is medium bitterness and fruity with a dry bitter finish.
3.6 Pours a semi clear dark brown with a foamy off white head. Aroma of spiced rum. Smooth with a slightly creamy texture. Light spices and a hint of rum. Finishes smooth with a light lingering woody aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable.
3.7 From Tesco BS
3.9 Tipica rossa scozzese.
3.6 Bottle from local Asda. Nose is dominated by alcohol – presumably rum, along with fruitcake. Pours a dark burgundy with a tight cream head. In the mouth, the tongue gets dark fruits, plums, cherries and raisins, whilst the roof of the mouth records the alcoholic strength. Sweetness, soft carbonation, vanilla and butter slip somewhere between. Spices come out in the finish. One for sipping slowly on a winter’s evening – delightful.
3.4 33cl bottle from Stonemanor, The British Store near Brussels. F: medium, tan, not long lasting. C: dark brown, light hazy. A: malty, bit rum, woody, bit vanilla, caramel, bit red berries. T: medium to full malty base, woody, vanilla, caramel, rum touch, mellow fruity yet almost dry on the palate, soft carbonation, quite nice, enjoyed.
3.7 Cerveza muy buena, con un sabor bastante agradable que se mantiene.
3.5 Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a pint glass. Clear deep ruby brown colour, small fizzy off-white head, mostly diminishing, light lacing. Aroma sweet malt, dark fruit, wood, rum, vanilla. Smooth taste medium to light heavy sweet, slightly bitter, malty, fruity, wood, light vanilla. Retronasal wood rum and vanilla, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, sweetbitter aftertaste, malty notes, lingering wood-vanilla notes, lacks some depth, easy to drink, all in all very nice.
3.4 Pours a deep mahogany brown with a tinge of redness to it, a nice frothy off-white head and a brown sugar sweetness to the aroma. Medium bodied, with a sweet malt flavour and a touch of bitterness, there's a hint of spice in the finish
3.6 27-12-2020; bottle; at the Swedish house (bought at an unknown location). The beer has a beautiful ruby red color. Blood red sky is a well chosen name. The beer seems to be pretty clear. On top there is some nice grayish brown foam. Foam retention is low. A minimal drape is left on top of the beer. All in all, not bad. The aroma of the beer is nice. Nice malt aromas with some caramel and toffee. The hops are nice and herbal. There are some amazing added aromas from the barrel aging. There are nice oak aromas, vanilla, some cinnamon. There is a nice touch of rum, giving some nice spice. All in all, quite nice. The taste of the beer is nice. Bitter hops, sweet malts and some sweet alcohol. The oak aging blends all aromas nicely. The result is a very well balanced beer. The palate of the beer is nice too. Smooth texture, medium body, medium carbonation. The finish of the beer is nice. It has a nice spicy run touch, vanilla and cinnamon, and some oak. All in all, it is a very pleasant beer.
2.3 From a bottle pours dark like a dunkle. Red? I IDK. Aroma of mild whisky. Taste initially is a little too much likker booze and then it mellows out a bit. Some interesting peat and spice starts to come thru, gets more like a gentleman but never quite gets there. Big strong red beer middle. Except for a hint of whisky backbone, you'd never know this was a higher alky brew. Bold yet softly spiced. Interesting finish, like a jet coming to stop down the runway. In the end, its got too much rum barrel in it, but what do I know? After all, I think it turns out just a littlenbetter than expected for this I&G company.
3.1 Bottle, 33 cl @home. Pours a clear dark amber with a frothy white head. Aroma is caramel and fruity. Taste is malty caramel, sweetness and a well balanced bitterness.
3.5 Bottle. Pours clear dark copper brown with airy but stable light tan head. Clear aroma of malt and caramel, with clear notes of barrel and yeast and touches of hops. Bitter, roasty and hoppy flavour with sweetish touches of caramel malt and fruit and peaty and barrellike notes. Nutty and estery aftertaste with peaty and acidic touches. A decent one for the style. Thank you, Rita!
3.6 330ml bottle from Morrisons. Pours dark ruby red, two finger off white head; looks good. Aroma of oak, rum, vanilla, toasted malts, hint of chocolate, sweet; inviting. Taste very sweet with caramel, rum, vanilla, raisins and spice with a moderate bitter finish. Its very nice although maybe the sweet vanilla note is a touch too much. Moderate body and nice carbonation. Good stuff.
3.3 Één lekker houterige geur. Weinig schuim als je uitschenkt. De smaak valt mee maar is geen topper.
3.4 Gentle but spicy aroma with a hint of vanilla. Reminds me of a spiced rum and cola. A little thin texture and a little metallic. Gentle oaky notes with a nice caramel finish. Quite enjoyable!
2.5 Metallic a small aroma. Head disappears quickly. Strong metallic flavour. Tiny bubbles. Slight bitter twang. Once it cuts through that, there is a pleasant silty caramel flavour that takes over.
3.5 Karmelowe i słodowe w aromacie. W smaku również karmel, tofi, taniny. herbata, lekka beczka. Wyraziste, do\bre.
3.4 Bottle from Morrisons. Dark pour with good head. You actually notice the rum along with raisins, vanilla and a dry finish. Not sure it's totally me but does a good job for what it's supposed to be, if that makes sense.
2.8 Gick att dricka, men ingen favorit
3.5 Murky brown/cider color; Medium slightly creamy body; Aroma of toasted malt, some oak, caramel, & light rum notes; Flavor of slight roasted sweet malt, vanilla/toffee, caramel, raisons, some rum, and spice; Nicely balanced; Pretty decent.
2.7 Malty rum flavour. Thick almost petrol like vapours.
3.9 Pours a birch beer brown with a red hue and a fair off white head which lingers.......aroma of spice, slight roastiness, touch of booze.....taste is sweet flavors with a dry finish, hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, the lightest of rum hints, a multitude of complexity. Quite a nice offering.
3.9 Erg fijne barrel aged beer met een hint naar rum. Mooie dieprode kleur. Beetje zoete smaak, tikkie vanille. 6,8%. Prima en eigenzinnig bier! Uit Beerwulf pakket.
3.6 Pours a beautifully clear red color with a great amount of head. Aroma is sweet, malt, raisins and plums, wood, mild booziness from the rum, bread. Taste is malt forward but with a great spice to it, cinnamon and nutmeg, raisins, plums, toffee, caramel. Good carbonation to keep it from getting cloyingly sweet, love the spice notes in it without being a holiday beer.
3.1 Correct Scotch beer. A beer that improves with temperature, and with more oxygenation. It’s hard to find a beer made in Scotland that is a great product; they tend to be correct products, like this one
