Inveralmond Lia Fail

Cask: Unfiltered. Bottle: Filtered.

To craft LIA FAIL our brewers selected flavour packed dark crystal and chocolate malts. This combination creates a warming malty body bursting with nutty, chocolate notes that we have balanced with spicy aromas from Cascade and Fuggles hops. It finishes full, mellow and satisfying.

3.9 22-09-2019; bottle; at home (bought somewhere in Scotland). The looks of the beer are very nice. The beer has a nice copper colour, with some touches of nice caramel. The beer is crystal clear and bubbles nicely. On top there is a nice layer of frothy off-white foam. Foam retention is very good. A nice drape stays on top of the beer for quite some time. Nothing wrong with this. I like it. The aroma of the beer is also very nice. It is different from what I'd expect. The malts are delicious. They give the beer toast, roast, a hint of chocolate and some coffee. Nice smooth roasted bouquet. The hops are nice. Earthy and leaflike. They give the beer a nice touch, that goes well with the malts. Yeast gives a creamy fruity aroma, with a touch of banana. It is quite nice. The taste of the beer is also quite nice. The malts give the beer some very nice sweets, but also toasty bitters and roasty salty notes. The hops give more bitterness. For a bitter, it isn't that bitter. Well balanced though. The creamy yeast note makes it extra smooth and balanced. The palate of the beer is also nice. Smooth beer, medium body and medium carbonation. The finish is nice. It has some nice bitter roast, followed by the bitterness of the hops. This hop bitterness in the finish is clearly a Bitter feature, really nice. All in all, a very nice beer.
